Gaming: Essays on Algorithmic Culture

Hi, can you explain what sources are unclear to you in this article? -- asilvering (talk) 07:10, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

As the tag itself notes, the issue was the lack of inline citations. DocFreeman24 (talk) 06:35, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
Yes. Which places do you think need an inline citation? What source is unclear to you in this article? -- asilvering (talk) 17:57, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

Re: The Mitsume ga Tooru cover art you uploaded

Hi, I wanted to ask you if you happen to remember where you got that cover art for Mitsume ga Tooru. I ask because the game was never officially released in English & yet the scan appears to be an English printing of the game complete with a Nintendo Seal of Quality, & it looks like an actual scan of an aged physical item rather than a mockup or something made for a reproduction cart. I can't find any information about a planned English release of the game or a known prototype & the only other sources I see through Google Image Search for the scan are for smaller resolution images that I assume were mirrored from your upload.

Thanks Newgongue (talk) 15:29, 15 March 2022 (UTC)

  • Hey I did some more digging and my best guess at this point is that it's a scan of a bootleg version of the game, or just possibly a mock-up. The reasons I believe this are 1) the very plain looking font for the title 2) the art is copied directly from one of the manga covers (hence the "8" volume number), and 3) the specific version of the Official Nintendo Seal (without "of Quality") that appears on the art was a newer version that only appeared on a handful of NES games released near the very end of its lifecycle (~1994). It seems plausible to me that a game released in Japan in July 1992 might end up getting a bootleg made of it sometime around 1994 and that its creator might have directly copied the Nintendo logo/seal from another recently released game.

Still, I would be very curious to know where this scan originated from since if it is a bootleg cart, it doesn't seem to be documented anywhere else online.

Hi there, unfortunately I don't remember where I got it from. If it's not an authentic cover, my apologies for uploading it and please feel free to remove/delete it! DocFreeman24 (talk) 20:01, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
