Hi. Good start on the History of the Venezuelan oil industry article. I understand how charged that topic can be (I'm from Trinidad, which is right next door and very much influenced by the turbulence next door).
- Don't use "bare URLs". Use the cite tool on the visual editor to create properly-formatted references.
- It's better to use shorter section headers. "2008- Present Day - Economic Troubles and Their Effect on Oil Policy" could be "2008 - present". Only capitalize the first word and proper nouns in a section header.
- Make sure everything you add is relevant. For more details and background information, link to the Wikipedia article that looks at the topic in more depth. For example
To assuage the oil price decline which began back in June 2014 and continues through to today, Maduro has directly printed more currency, resulting in inflation as high as 700% of what the inflation rate was in 2014. et by 2016, the oil production reached the lowest it had been in 23 years. According to analysts, the economic woes Venezuela suffered under President Nicolás Maduro would have still occurred with or without Chávez
- What parts of this are immediately relevant to this article? The main point here is that production has fallen to its lowest level in 23 years. So start with that. Then you should look at why it has fallen. Presumably it has something to do with under-investment, linked to the financial crisis and devaluation. Maybe to the social unrest. If a source says that's the reason, then say so (but in a way that makes it clear that the sources say so). Beyond that, point readers to relevant pages to learn about background or context - things like Crisis in Venezuela (2012–present), the 2014–2017 Venezuelan protests, or the Economic policy of the Nicolás Maduro administration.
Keep your focus narrow. Talk about the oil industry in the context of these things, and also in the context of low international oil prices. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:43, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
