Hey, I was just overlooking your page and seeing what you have been working on and what need to be worked on for Thermogenin. I think it would be great if you added onto the history of the protein. Maybe talk about the experiment done to find it and who found it. I also think making the subsection for the Evolution of Function would be very interesting and could help provide a better understanding of the function of Thermogenin and would also add on a unique set of information about the evolution of the Thermogenin protein. Talking about brown adipose tissue would be important if that is where it is found, but anything that is just about it or that goes too much into depth about it might be better put in the Brown adipose tissue Wikipedia page. You could also put in more in-text citations, especially in the mechanisms section. I know you are not really focusing on that, but it could improve the overall page. I can't wait to see what you post in your sandbox later. ItnosoyI (talk) 18:01, 2 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the feedback. I will try to focus in on the protein and not the tissue. Djinn32 (talk) 00:54, 13 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hey, your page looks pretty similar from before. Let me know if you have any questions or want second opinions on any ideas you have for the Thermogenin page. I know you might have some more stuff on a different platform besides your sandbox (like I have some things in a google docs), but I feel as though i could be of more help if I could see it (would could send me a link if you also have a docs you are working with). you might just be a bit behind, though. That is OK, just make sure you make it more of a priority within the next few weeks. It might also be a good time to think on what picture you want to add in. It is not as quick and easy as you would hope to get a good picture uploaded. Keep up the work!ItnosoyI (talk) 06:33, 13 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

I haven't begun yet to upload information to the wikipedia article as I'm still in the process of doing research. I'll be sure to keep it more up to date once I get to writing. Djinn32 (talk) 00:54, 13 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Is there any literature on whether the protein is found in species that are suspected progenitors to mammals? This might be your best bet in figuring out when it started to appear. Suppose lizards don't have it but the species most like the first species to have warm blood do have it. Actually, it'd be super interesting to figure out if this is a major player in what makes an animal warm or cold blooded! I agree also about adding a note about brown adipose tissue- it'd be really helpful to know how that tissue is distributed around the body. Probably you can't draw your own conclusions about what parts of the body need to be kept the warmest unless that research has been done, but still, I'd like to know. Looks like you've taken good first steps. Ikenhower (talk) 04:59, 14 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'll be sure to look into that for some of my history and evolution portion. What I've found so far is that all veterbrates have this gene, but only placental mammals have the mutation of the gene that creates heat. Djinn32 (talk) 00:54, 13 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Heyo! Crunch time here- have you got any work in saved somewhere else? Been thinking about thermogenin a lot now that it's getting colder outside, can't wait to see what you can dig up. Ikenhower (talk) 18:43, 30 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Well, I have to assume that you have your work somewhere else, but I think it would be good to upload it (at least some of it) to the actual page. It takes awhile to do it, especially when putting in a picture. It will also still be helpful to put the stuff you are adding to your sandbox so we can better see what you added compared to what you might be adding to the thermogenin page. I know there is no evolution section yet, but I don't know if you plan on moving other people's work around too. Goodluck with this last bit to still work on it! Yeah, I had some work up here but forgot to publish it and then it got erased. I do have some material saved on my computer that I'm compiling, but I will be uploading it here today. Thank you for your comments! Djinn32 (talk) 16:22, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

I see the progress towards your sections, I wonder what sort of work went into figuring out the phylogeny, tracking thermogenin from the decarboxylate or whatever it came from? How did they track that? Hope all is going well, can't wait to see what you come up with! Ikenhower (talk) 01:52, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

I didn't make a figure of that, but I'll try to look at it and explain it in the article if they even know. From the paper, it seems like they only know that a few mutations took place which changed its function. Djinn32 (talk) 00:54, 13 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
