- Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or sock puppetry.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Responding to your email
editThere's a short explanation of the decline in your sandbox, but I can explain further. There are a couple of overlapping issues.
The most critical is our basic notability/inclusion guideline. For a topic to be included in our article, it must be described in multiple, reliable, third-party sources in detail. In other words, there need to be references to things such as newspapers, magazines, books, which talk about the subject in detail. Without references, the article can't fly at all.
The second issue is that even with those references, we'd need more than what is essentially a dictionary definition. There's a line between an encyclopedia and a dictionary, and we try and put appropriate things in Wikipedia (an encyclopedia) or Wiktionary (a dictionary) respectively. Terms *can* rise to encyclopedia articles when there's more to say about them than simply a definition and an etymology, but it does take a term that has developed some level of history and "story" to it that exceeds a simple meaning.
I think it will be tough to clear both these hurdles in this case. Leave a note on my talk page if I can explain further. Cheers, --j⚛e deckertalk 21:21, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Your draft article, User:Dj1mitchell/sandbox
editHello, Dj1mitchell. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "sandbox".
The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply {{db-afc}}
or {{db-g13}}
code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|User:Dj1mitchell/sandbox}}
, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 22:22, 11 April 2015 (UTC)
