Arabic edit

I would like to recommend that you keep your use of arabic on talk pages to a minimum, if you use it at all. The problem is simply the issue of openness. One of the most important qualities of wikipedia is that all its information is available to anyone, anytime. This is, of course, the English wikipedia, so the majority of its users are english speakers. So the issue becomes when you post anything in a language besides english, you make it inaccessable to a lot of users. For example, when someone complains to me about the content of your post in Arabic. Maybe it's a salutation, maybe it's an insult. I don't know without being told. Plus, as Kash said on my talk page, he took it as a 'provocation'. So, in general, it's probably just safest to post in english for the most part. --InShaneee 01:12, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and I do apologize for having started conversations with Diyako in Turkish and Swedish. Bertilvidet 11:38, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

English edit

Yes, I am a native speaker and it's my only language. But what does this have to do with neutrality? --Khoikhoi 00:53, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Believe whatever you want to believe, but English is my only language. The Iranian peoples are an ethno-linguistic group, just like the Germanic peoples. We provided a source that clearly says that, but you and Aucaman just shined it on saying "it's about the Kurds". Yes the subject of the article is about the Kurds, but in the article it says that they are part of the "Iranian ethno-linguistic group". Do you have any sources that say they're just a linguistic group?
No, it's the idea of Iranian languages is a well-known fact. If you dispute this, then you're against most linguists of the world on this one. --Khoikhoi 19:33, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
You're wrong - why would the article say "Iranian" if most Kurds don't live in Iran? The person who wrote the article is obviously well-educated, and I'm sure that they know that Kurds live in Iraq, Turkey, Syria, and Iran, not to mention in places all over the world as well.
Of course the Iranian peoples aren't one people and one ethnicity, that's why they're called the Iranian peoples, they're a group of ethnic groups. You're saying that there are no Iranian peoples, but there are Turkic peoples, Germanic peoples, and Slavic peoples?
You're starting to sound just like Aucaman. Please show me your sources that say that the Iranian peoples are only a linguistic group, not a cultural or ethnic one.
It's been proven to Aucaman that Aryan is an "outdated linguistic term" in the West, but not in places like Iran and Persia. You of all people, you're from the Middle East, right? Can you provide me with some insights how the term was used when you were growing up? --Khoikhoi 20:09, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Clear, but incorrect. You still haven't provided sources for yoru claim "Iranian peoples are only a linguistic group". --Khoikhoi 20:25, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Please don't put words in my mouth. I said that you're clear on what you're trying to say, but you're wrong. --Khoikhoi 20:30, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nusrat Bhutto edit

Nusrat Bhutto or Benazir Bhutto is Kurd ??? --Muhamed 16:56, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Issues edit

  • I agree that the Aryan article needs some rewriting. Probably needs to be turned into a disambig.
  • I'll ask for Kurdish people mediation in about 3-4 hrs (after I get some rest).
  • The Iranian peoples article is full of inaccurate statements.
  • Some users intentionally put inaccurate information into articles because they've made this way too personal. I'm not sure what's the best way to move forward from here, but I'm getting advice from people.
  • Be patient and don't look for a fight, but definitely keep and in touch and let me know if you ever need any help any place. AucamanTalk 21:55, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi edit

I'm sorry, I really am, but this whole debate is really way out of my league. If you've discussed the issue to a deadlock and you are positive that further discussion will not change anything, you may want to consider opening up an Article content RfC in the proper section (which I think would be geography/history). What this could do is get the attention of other, completely neutral users to put a new spin on the situation, and hopefully make for a clearer consensus. Sorry I can't be of more assistance. --InShaneee 01:34, 26 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I also wanted to recommend that you stop asking other users whether their first language is english or not, as it misses the point of an article content discussion. If you believe that they are misinterpriting a word or phrase, simply say so and attempt to explain it better. Remember, wikettiquitte reminds us that we have to discuss articles and issues, not users. --InShaneee 01:39, 26 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
