Disambiguation needed for Mudaliar title to avoid repeat revert wars

Hi Dina,

Unable to accept the fact that his group were not the first users of the title Mudaliar, user Mudaliar has taken up the strategy of attacking the messenger instead of the message. If he was serious about RFC and dignified discussion, the actual RFC he should have posted should be about Mudaliar title and its usage. However he wants to denigrate and personally attack the sengunthar group and hence he posts a insulting RFC about that. Researchers have worked on the article Devadasi and clearly found out that it is the Isai Vellala are the devadasi community. His edits were reverted in that article. He has accepted this fact himself. However whenever he is unable to digest any fact, he resorts to personal attacks. The proofs he gave including the online book [1] in the reference section of Mudaliar talks about KondaiKatti Vellalas and not Saiva Vellalas. He has taken over their claims as his. I gave him one month to come up with proofs for his claims. He has nothing to show except proofs of his bigotry and prejudice.

I think I have made my arguments clear. The evidence is there for you to see. I do not prefer to play childish games. Your advice and actions are needed. Thanks for your time.

Venki 23:41, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi Dina,

User Venki123 cannot deal with the references given by me regarding Mudaliars. The proofs given by me clearly state that our clan was the Mudali tribe. But he simply refuses to accept this. He goes on to claim that Kaikolars are in fact Pallavas who are actually kings. I have given ample references to support my claims while he just continues to abuse me. The relation between Kaikolars and Devadasis is very clear just read through any of the references. Very soon he'll be claiming that his half brother is Prince Charles. Please go through his claims and you will realize how lame they are. Thanks.

Mudaliar vs Mudaliar title revert war by user Mudaliar

Hi Dina, After much consideration, I think I and user Mudaliar cannot come to an agreement on the Mudaliar article. So I have decided to create a new topic called Mudaliar title which includes groups which use Mudaliar title in Tamilnadu a state in india. However the user Mudaliar continues to revert the edits in article Sengunthar made by many users and the newly created article Mudaliar title. I want to prevent the slandering of any group in Wikipedia and avoid revert wars. However user Mudaliar is not able to give proofs for his claims and is unable to accept proofs given by me. Hence I decided not to edit the article Mudaliar as long as it does not slander the group Sengunthar. I have decided to start a new article Mudaliar Title.

Venki 17:28, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey Dina,

This person is repeatedly reverting the Mudaliar article. Now he has created a duplicate article called "Mudaliar title" in his favor. Most of the editors agreed to my version and suddenly this person is creating problems again.

Mudaliar 17:32, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey Dina,

Once again user Mudaliar with multiple sock puppets is creating the same problem of slandering the Sengunthar group in the articles Mudaliar Mudaliar Title Devadasi and Sengunthar. I personally think he is mentally unstable and suffers from some psychological wounds from his childhood. Nevertheless, I would appreciate it if you could persuade him not to slander the Sengunthar group or any other group via his edits. As I mentioned before, I have created a new article Mudaliar Title as user Mudaliar is unable to accept that Mudaliar is not a caste name.

Venki 17:44, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey Dina,

Venki is lying profusely. I have not been using any socket puppets. He is just repeatedly vandalizing the Mudaliar article. He goes into this state once in two weeks or so. Maybe he should get his mind checked out. Check out the article, he is the one who started it again.

Mudaliar 17:57, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey Dina,

Just as a suggestion please see the article Gounder which is another title similar to the Mudaliar. Apparently different groups claim different origins for the title. The different groups that use the title Gounder have a common introductory disambiguation page and then decided to separte into different articles for each group such as Gounder (title), Gounder (caste), etc.

I suggest we follow the same solution in this case also. We need a disambiguation page for Mudaliar also. I think this is an elegant solution compared to the revert wars and solve the problem once and for all.

Regarding sockpuppets, user Mudaliar himself has claimed that he has used multiple sock puppets in your talk page.

Venki 18:47, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi Dina,

Comparing Mudaliar and Gounder is like comparing chalk and cheese. Now that different editors have supported my views, Venki wants to start a new article. Pathetic. He just lost fair and square. This is not acceptable. How come the majority of editors don't seem to have a problem while Venki is going berserk ? Venki's argument is analogous to him adding "Duke", "Lord", "Baron" to his name and then claiming that he is of aristocratic origin. On the other hand I have clearly proven the relation between Kaikolars and Devadasis and how women from the former community go into prostitution for monetary reasons. He is selectively rejecting references to aid his argument. All of the references are third party refernces and they have no gain in just picking on the Kaikolar caste. The references are unrelated to one another but give the same info about Kaikolars.

Mudaliar 19:10, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

User Mudaliar is unable to read properly. Even the proofs he gives on his group TondaiMandala Saiva Vellala, are about the group called KondaiKatti Vellala. He has clarified many times that his group is different from KondaiKatti Vellala. Just check his own proofs based on the edits he has made. When I add the section about KondaiKatti Vellala, he goes berserk and starts denigrating the Sengunthar group based on some Christian websites. I have not mentioned anything denigrating about his group even though it is well known in Tamilnadu that women of his group were used as concubines by the brahmins in the temples as his ancestors were convinced about the superiority of the brahmins and thought getting white skin was more important and did not mind being cuckolded in the process. He also follows the same thought praising the superiority of Brahmins. The whole Dravidian movement was against these Brahmins and the Saiva Vellala. This Dravidian movement was led by pure Tamilians such as Sengunthar. Hence User Mudaliar feels such anger against the Sengunthar. I suggest we ask the opinion of editors of the title Gounder , Pillai, about the title Mudaliar as they are knowledgable about the current situation in Tamilnadu.

Venki 20:46, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi Dina,

Once again user Mudaliar has proven that he is not capable of dignified discussion as can be seen from his edit history of slandering Sengunthar group in almost 50 articles and vandalising them in the process. Please take necessary actions. Thanks.

Venki 22:46, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi Dina,

This person started slandering and look at the way he is swearing profusely. I have been backing up my content with references while Venki is just using foul language Revision as of 22:42 9 February 2007 . According to wiki rules he cannot verbally abuse another user. Moreover I haven't vandalised any article. I have only posted RFC on talk pages. Check it out.

Mudaliar 22:49, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

User:Alyssacarmillo

While reading over your talk page,I came across Alyssacarmillo's user page, which I find quite insultful to the user.I would like you to have a look at it.There is no user name for the person that changed the user page, but there is an I.P. address. JakeTheBlake 03:58, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

regarding Sengundar/ Kaikolar

I haven't been slandering or abusing anyone. Please go through all of my contributions. I am only making statements regarding the content of the articles and I am not vandalising any article. On the other hand I've been backing up my edits with references. Wikipedia rules state that I can make a statement regarding the content as long as I'm not personally attacking anyone. According to wikipedia rules can I not use socket puppets across different articles ?Mudaliar 22:17, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion for User Mudaliar

Hi Dina, I suggest that the user Mudaliar using duplicate logins such as JuneTrey Madrasi Eugene32 and IP address 207.250.0.154 stop slandering Kaikolar group and revert all his changes to articles such as Devadasi and stop creating duplicate articles with other spelling like Kaikolar, Sengundar only for slandering the Kaikolar group. Luckily his blanking of the article Sengunthar were reverted by another editor. I also suggest that he change his username so that it is easy to refer to him during discussion. I also suggest that he read the rules of Wikipedia regarding slandering, personal attacks, blanking pages and duplicate user logins and examine his motives and mental state sincerely.

thnx Venki Mudaliar 21:17, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

So I added a pic to Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, but I think I should have taken one from the other side (this is the side I always think of because its the street I walk down most frequently.) It's better than the old one, but not awesome...Dina 01:41, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I've got to say thanks first, since I asked and then you delivered, but this building should be shown "in the round", and you should show the part on pilotis [2], and where the ramp goes through the building [3], the first two here [4] show this pretty well. On another note, these buildings [5], and [6] also looks pretty interesting. Would like to see more but don't want to sound demanding :-( - your friend DVD+ R/W 03:10, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

The first one is Harvard: School of Education near Radcliffe College according to the site (I don't know that building but it looks cool to me), the second one is the MIT Chapel, which we have a really good interior picture of but the outside one is ehh... ok. Remember when you asked if you have to "know" the fact for DYK? I think an informed decision is like that. Who knows really. You've participated in RfAs right - it is much like that, you review the contribs, userpage, talkpage, other ppls comments and so on. Dear Dina

Hey Dina how are you, hope you're doing great, i have a litle problem with a member user named:Hseldon10 i've been traying to talk with him about not modify the content of articles like Second city wich is the only source we have to make a citation about the second most important city in Mexico. Certainly Mexican people are really localist, and he modifies all articles possible to make look his city (Monterrey,Mexico) like the best city in the world ever. Even if he has to change and modify all sources and citations existed. I've been trying several times to talk with him and explain him the Wikipedia philosphy wich he ignores all the time and change the situation trying to make look everybody like vandal hiding his intentions. I've offered him my help, advices and very polite frienship but i ignore why he doesn't want to understand. Do you know who i have to talk with to report this vandalism situation? so they can do something about, like block the user and/or the IP, or deny him contributions to this articles. Thank you so much Dina, I hope to found your answer soon and send you greetings and good wishes. (Raveonpraghga)

Hey Dina thanks for your fast answer im glad you take a litle time to attend my request, well i know the big fight in the Second city article seems to be between those british cities and i understand the point about that two cities could deserve a position to be a second city, in this particular case the problem goes only with this user who affirms that the city where he comes from is the second most important in Mexico (when this is not a real fact in real life) Maybe he's just playing or he must be over-proud about his birthplace wich is comprehensive but this is an enciclopedy not a space to show personal wishes. I invite you to investigate a litle more about the second most important city in Mexico in the sources you could be able to found, after Mexico city, Guadalajara is the second in Mexico. I've been studing history of America (the whole continent)since i was 17 now im 23,i've been following the development process of the American continent cities 6 years of my life be cause of my career, and i know the mexican development and its process very well, if you can found some information about it that would be great you can help me to make this articles keep real facts. I've been talking with another friends wikipedia memebers who are trying to follow the articles where he colaborates so he can't change information again and again. I hope you're very good and thank you, if you have some information or need something i could help with just contact me, hope to read you soon.(Raveonpraghga)

Hi, Dina. It's a bot to correct refs to agree with where to place ref tags. In this case, it only removed the blank spaces between the punctuation and the ref, which doesn't show in the diff. Sandy (Talk) 21:26, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Letter from Someone, Moved from Your User Page by Tractorkingsfan (Hope that's OK)

Dear Dina, I'm sorry if this is not in the right place; I am an old (by IT standards) man, trying very hard to put things right for MY old man, Francis Coudrill. I've not intentionally vandalised his page, just tried (and failed, obviously0, to correct a few typos such as that zero instead of a bracket back there after obviously. I thank you for protecting my Papa's page; I know you're conscientiously doing your job; if there was anybody who knows their way around to do mine for me, I would LEAP at it; I've tried to put a couple of photographs of him into the picture gallery too; I'm way out of broadband on a rock in the ocean, there's an 80 mph gale threatening to lift the roof, this is taking forever and I'd like to go to bed. end of complaint. To communicate without my getting a headache, try jxcoudrille@yahoo.co.uk, to form a kinder opinion of me try my ancient website, www.jxc.ukf.net, and look at the children's books. thanks, x J

Can you take a look at this page? I have just reverted some very troubling POV edits by Suemcp. I see from the protection that there have been problems with vandalism and I am not sure if other actions are recommended. --Slp1 16:01, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks muchly, and I appreciate the work at the Ecole Polytechnique page as they looked POV to me too!! I will keep my eye on things too. --Slp1 16:51, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
    • I wonder if I could trouble you to take another look at the pages and the talk pages. I would be happy to ask elsewhere too, if you have suggestions. Thanks. --Slp1 22:12, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Thanks for your quick response. I am more worried about the comments on the talk pages in the last few days, actually, where it is bit harder to assume good faith,I think!

I would also particularly value advice about what to do about the "originally known as" issue on the Ecole Polytechnique page, since I can't find any reference that she is correct about this (and indeed evidence to the contrary, and yet she insists on it. I say she because of complaints about the deletion of links to "my website" (ironically Montrealmassacre!) on which are lots of articles by a Sue McP... Anyway, let me know what you think. --Slp1 23:30, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Oops, sorry I should have checked the talkpages more carefully first. I see you have responded to the comments, and that Suemcp has explained the "originally known as" comment in the middle there too. Sorry!--Slp1 23:37, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your nice message, and yes I have been having a nice Christmas and hope you have been having good holidays too. Actually, one of the two better presents has been to have been busy entertaining this evening while all hell seems to have broken loose, and the other present has been to see that you were back and taking an interest. So thanks! I confess to have been feeling a bit isolated and alone in the last few days, hoping that I was doing the right WP thing in a difficult situation: I have been around on WP for a few months but have never had to cope with anything like this before. I think the RFC is a great idea, though I am not really sure what this involves. I guess I will read up on it, but any advice or suggestions would be gratefully received. Anyway, thanks again for your input and help. --Slp1 05:34, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Whatever you want to do. He didn't have too many creations anyway. If he really throws a fit and promises to change his password (e.g., there's some reason he really wants this account), it might be better to just unblock. Vandalism

Hello, Dina.

I am Viva La France, a wikipedian who loves wikipedia. Recently, some of my friends userpages are being vandalized by the following users: user: Big Boned, user: Mr. Wikipedia 019, user: Kokodai, and user: Cloony Da Baloony. You noticed Mr. Wikipedia 019, and I believe the others are sockpuppets of him. The vandalism is as follows: Mr. Wikipedia lies about sock puppetry and being an admin. Big Boned adds obscene messages and pictures of a renaissance painting of an obese person. Cloony Da Baloony adds messages to the page with misspellings and strange meanings like Big Boned. For example: WILL U BE MI FREND? and after that BOO HOO U BROK MY HART U NO FREND. He started adding messages, consisting of the message CLOONY DA BALOONY, an obvious reference to George Clooney. Recently, in a message Cloony Da Baloony gave his password to user: Frenchpoliceman, my friend. He then changed the password and on his user page admitted to being a sockpuppet of user: Vandalbot007. And last, Kokodai joined TODAY, and added a Cloony Da Baloony message. Please have a look in to this. I like to report a person named Dina who says that eveything I do is Vandalism after I did very hard work!!!!! II knew that if I told you whould be sure to make sure you ruin eveything!!!!!!!

monteal massacre name

Is it because most people don't know the longer name of the school and know that it was in Montreal? Lots of people in rest of Canada and USA may simply refer to it as the masscare in montreal? Chivista 19:06, 28 December 2006 (UTC) ~.

confusion all around

Hi,
Thanks for being nice when you thought I was being horrid. But I think you may have things confused. Bobanny didn't make the change from journalist to reporter... (he was actually making changes with the disambiguation thing). Our dear friend Suemcp made the change here [[7]] And my edit summary was in relation to this. Since she talks under Proposed Edits about not thinking it appropriate to "up her (Pelletier's) status" to journalist I think I was assuming good faith, by saying "suspect" rather than "are" about the demotion!!! --Slp1 05:51, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Glad to have got that cleared up. I will try to avoid being snarky in the future, and to be clear whom I am addressing too!! Like you said it has been a trying week or two, so I am grateful for the positive comments even when I have almost reached the end of my editing rope. I have been very grateful for your leadership in knowing what the next step should be in this whole process, and glad about the clarity of your last piece of advice. I will be interested to see what happens next, but it certainly helps that there are other people dropping in to give opinions too. Anyway thanks. And now to bed. --Slp1 06:23, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

École Polytechnique massacre

Hi Dina. I just wanted to say good job on this dispute for staying level-headed without being a robot administrator. These kinds of things can seem to waste a lot of time and energy, but up to a point, I think they can be productive on some level. But yeah, I agree with you that we've passed that point. It's getting a little depressing to see how slim the article still is compared to the talk page. I imagine if there's a few of us watching the article and contributing to it here and there, we should be able to keep it moving forward. Cheers, Bobanny 20:56, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

If you look further back, the article was originally titled École Polytechnique massacre. Somebody else moved it to Montreal Polytechnic massacre out of the false belief that Wikipedia requires titles to be translated into English regardless of actual usage. All I did was to revert that move two days later because the school is never referred to as "Montreal Polytechnic"; even in English, most people refer to the school as "Polytechnique". So, no, I didn't impose a title; I just reverted the article back to its original title after a badly-reasoned move.
Personally, I think Montreal massacre is potentially too vague a title to be suitable now. I wouldn't have objected to it a year ago, but after Dawson College the Montreal title is a bit too ambiguous to anybody who isn't already familiar with the topics. Bearcat 22:27, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
I should add that after thinking about it a bit, if it is decided that a move is in order, dropping the "École" and using just "Polytechnique (massacre/shooting/whatever)" would also be a reasonable choice. Bearcat 22:42, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Get better soon

I hope the Law and Order bad guys were all caught, and the germs beat a hasty retreat. The article can wait, and luckily all's quiet there anyway. Too bad my head isn't: too many contradictory accounts buzzing around, which is annoying but stimulating!!
Anyway drink lots of fluids, get plenty of rest and get better soon. --Slp1 03:58, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

RFC

Since I have zero experience with this kind of thing on WP, and I thought I had seen a change in her editing style in the last few days, I was going suggest waiting. But in the meantime I notice that she is at it again and has reverted everything yet again, with no edit summaries, of course. So I give up too. I will take a closer look at the RFC, though my first suggestion would be to include some stuff from the Marc Lepine article as well, since there was plenty of informing and education on there too. In fact, I think that was were the bulk of the initial discussions were there before they moved over the the Ecole Polytechnique page. I will try and do this in a bit. My New Year's resolution was to get more exercise. It looks like our resolutions are mutually incompatible at present, unless one counts typing as exercise. ;-)--Slp1 18:32, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
PS you should know about this Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2007/01/01 EcolePolytechniqueMassacre if you don't already. --Slp1 18:56, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I have been adding some diffs from the Marc Lepine page to your subpage, but I think maybe the action has moved elsewhere. I will move the stuff over, if you think it would be helpful, as you may have reasons for not wanting extra articles involved. --Slp1 19:48, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I have signed on the dotted line. Please free to review my changes and take anything out that you don't think is helpful or useful. The whole thing is really too bad. --Slp1 21:39, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Don't feel badly. I am sure it was the next step really. I just feel so sorry all around, life, the universe and everything. Gotta run. --Slp1 22:51, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for keeping an eye on things. It helps to know that there are others about. I have also been working a bit on the Marc Lepine page and have found more information about his schooling in a La Presse article that she will also hate. She hasn't noticed it yet, but just a heads up!! Have a good rest of weekend. --Slp1 20:03, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

socket puppetry

Please gimme a break. Am I the only one from my caste/ clan who is reading wikipedia. Are all wiki users active ? If you're accusing me of socket puppetry based just upon the editing and contributions of other users then its really not fair. I think anytime a new user creates an account and favors one of my edits then you think its my puppet. I am not the only one in my clan. If its not some users who agree with me then it could just be Venki123 tryin to play both sides and make me a scapegoat (check straw man sock puppet). He has always wanted me to lose this id. haruki murakami

user: DVDasia. just wondered why you deleted the links to my blog www.exorcising-ghosts.co.uk

Each link is a seperate page on the blog and each contains relevant information (publishing dates, editions, reviews ,covers etc) on each of Murakami's novels/short story collections.

I've read wikipedia's notes on external links and feel my contributions do "......contain further research which is accurate and on-topic"

Any advice would be gratefully received. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dvdasia (talkcontribs) 19:35, 7 January 2007 (UTC).

Duetto buffo di due gatti

Hello

Do I take it that there are Wikipedia rules about not linking articles to User Pages and that is why you removed the link that I put there? If not, I can assure you that I am the Andrew Cooper whose post to the opera-l email list was referenced in the above article, and, if you need to, you can check that via my website which is linked from my User Page. Best --GuillaumeTell 21:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the prompt reply. There's no reason why my name should be even red-linked, as I am certainly not notable enough to have an article in WP, so I'll leave the reference as is. (However, I intend to improve the article itself by adding the info from the reference, link to Weyse, etc.) --GuillaumeTell 22:03, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Image:9497IM002334.JPG

You can see the image because it is on Wikimedia Commons. I nominated it for deletion because it has a redundant, unnecessary local image description page. Some images, like Image:Streichholz.jpg, have a local image description page because they have non-trivial content. In this case, Image:Streichholz.jpg has a local image description page so that the "featured picture" and "picture of the day" templates are there. Image:9497IM002334.JPG, however, only has trivial content: it repeats exactly what is on the copy at Wikimedia Commons. --Iamunknown 00:54, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

I agree with Blnguyen's block, and I find the arguments supporting Dpotop's insults to be extremely week. If you think it was just an innocent mistake, check out one of the other comments he's been making recently:

Vintila, arguing with Dahn on this subject may not be a good idea. Now, he'll accuse you and everybody else of anti-semitic propaganda, and this is the cheapest way of making someone look bad. What is funny is that he asks other people to do his job. :):):) I came to think that his contributions may be too low to justify such behavior. Dpotop 15:32, 7 March 2007 (UTC) [9]

Red (an orchestra)

Hi, you appear to have deleted entirely the article Red (an orchestra), which I wrote from scratch. Someone (probably someone in the orchestra itself, who didn't know better) may have later added copyvio material lifted directly from the orchestra's website but it really wasn't very nice to have deleted the page so hastily without even a discussion posting to the page or to the page creator. Let's give this another try; first please restore the page then we'll eliminate the copyvio material the way things should have been done in the first place. Thanks so much. Badagnani 06:33, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. I did explain, and will reiterate, that when I created the article, I did so from scratch (although using the orchestra's website as a source). The offending text was likely added later, probably by someone from the orchestra itself, and that is why it apparently matches the orchestra's official website. I would simply revert back to an earlier version, the one I wrote from scratch. Badagnani 16:47, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Peter Dewar-Finch

Hi - you put me right over cross-namespace links recently, and the above, which I came upon today when the subject (aka the author) added himself to York, is part of a really tangled web of renamed pages and redirects, probably created through ignorance, but also violating WP:Auto (in my opinion) and NPOV, as follows:

I don't feel equal to trying to sort all this out. It's also difficult to know how to contact the author, as his official talk page redirects to the talk page for his article about himself. My head has started to swim, but I wonder whether the best move might be to submit the lot of them to AfD?

If you'd like to do something about this, feel free! Otherwise, all help or suggestions gratefully received! --GuillaumeTell 21:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

back to Daniel James (fashion Designer) As he designed clothes for Steve strange and Boy George. Could you please tell me were i am going wrong Many thanks William

Thanks for your replay Though not much help yes I do know of Daniel James Just like most people must know something about the people on this site Or else’s it would not exist.
