Speedy deletion nomination of File:Lindsay-Lohan-Sundance-11.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Lindsay-Lohan-Sundance-11.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. BethNaught (talk) 15:33, 14 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

You wrote on the talk page: "This file should not be speedy deleted as an obviously non-free file but which is not claimed by the uploader to be fair use, because... (It is from the Sundance Film Festival official website)." That does not mean it is free for you to copy: the Sundance site says "some images may be subject to copyright", and this version of the same image is marked "Getty". Getty Images are certainly not in the business of letting us republish their images for free.
By publishing an image on Wikipedia, we are making it available to anyone else to copy and use freely for any purpose including commercial. If we publish images that are actually copyright to someone (as are almost all the images you find on the Web), we could be in serious legal trouble.
Before you upload any more images, please read Wikipedia:Image use policy. JohnCD (talk) 16:13, 14 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:ActressLindsayLohan.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Final warning

edit

If you continue to upload copyright images, you may be blocked from editing without further warning. JohnCD (talk) 16:53, 14 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

edit

I have deleted all of the image files you uploaded. For none of them did you provide any source or licensing information, and every one that I checked with TinEye had already been published on the internet, with no indication that it was under a free license, and in several cases credited to picture agencies like Getty Images or Corbis.

Publishing copyright images could get Wikipedia into serious legal trouble. Before you upload any more images, read Wikipedia:Image use policy. If an image is really available under a free license, it is best to upload it to Commons, which will make it available to all the Wikimedia projects.

If you upload any more copyright images, you will be blocked without further warning. JohnCD (talk) 17:11, 14 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
