The life cycle passage seems awkward.

"Haploid gametes develop from meiosis of germ cells starting in embryogenesis" progressive tense "The overall shape of the cell is elongated; most of the cytoplasm is extended into the flagellum (source?). Egg, or oocyte, cells are arrested in metaphase II of meiosis; completion of meiosis does not occur until after fertilization" two semi colons back to back? uncomfortable.

" Egg cells are secreted into the oviduct following mating as cumulus cells," ---> "egg cells secrete" "Egg cells are secreted into the oviduct following mating as cumulus cells, oocytes enveloped in a zona pellucida and surrounded by follicle cells" Awkward phrasing - consider a revision.

" Following mating" progressive of a progressive tense? so hard to read. consider revision. " Following mating, sperm cells navigate to the oviduct, completing capacitation during this time [2]." ---> "sperm cells navigate to the oviduct" that is the only sentence in that phrase. consider revision.

"he zona pellucida by interacting with ZP3 and ZP2" --> "by interactions with...."

"The initial interaction between the sperm cell and ZP3 activates the acrosomal reaction: the contents of the acrosome are released to digest the zone pellucid" Incorrect usage of a colon.

"and unfavorable binding points reduces the ability to properly distribute transcription factors" What does this mean? Unclear. --> "Once bound, plasma membranes of both gametes fuse and the remaining contents of the sperm are integrated into the egg." Two sentences. --> "fuse. The remaining contents..."

Watch the progressive tense...

"The zygote begins dividing into individual cells" --->Begins division. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kim radford (talkcontribs) 15:51, 28 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
