Speedy deletion nomination of Act Now India edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Act Now India requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.actnow.org.in. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Act Now - Global Network for Climate Action edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Act Now - Global Network for Climate Action, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Justiyaya 06:19, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

Hello, Devilsgem0. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Justiyaya 06:39, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

August 2022 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for advertising or promotion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.   -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 08:09, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • You have been using Wikipedia to promote Act Now and related organizations since 2011. The only reason you haven't been blocked till now is that you haven't been doing a very good job at it. So, if there was some misunderstanding: Wikipedia is not the place to promote your non-profit. Even if you really strongly believe in your non-profit's mission. If you're interested in editing Wikipedia about things unrelated to Act Now, I'm open to discussing that. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 08:15, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Dear Tamzin - I am shocked at this particularly rude and monopolistic behaviour - without even verifying anything you have chosen to block me. Act Now is a non-profit environmental organization in the first place (www.actnow.org.in) and has no commercial application, whatever we promote we promote for environmental awareness and climate action. If there was anything out of wiki policy we could have rectified. I just started pulling up the page BUT YOU BLOCKED ME! PLEASE UNBLOCK. and suggest if there is anything wrong which i could rectify. Devilsgem0 (talk) 08:22, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
All I am trying to do is to place act now on Wikipedia - ain't there so many organizations on it? Yes I am not a very good editor as you and might make mistakes but I am open to rectifying it since I have no interest in any commerce but only for providing the source of information on act now! why dont you check the credentials first? Devilsgem0 (talk) 08:26, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
You are not going to be unblocked so that you can continue to spam for your non-profit. It doesn't matter that your cause is a noble one. Wikipedia is not for promoting any cause, and I'm sure that many people who promote for-profit companies think they're doing a good thing too. Now, like I said, if you would like to continue editing about other things, that's something we can discuss. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 08:32, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Dear Tamzin, OK. Yes I understand that wiki is not for promoting any cause but to provide an authentic source of information. please help me how can I have a wiki page for Act Now 9Foundation) like other organizations have? Or can I never have? :( Devilsgem0 (talk) 08:35, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
If Act Now is notable enough for a Wikipedia article, somebody else will write it. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 08:39, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
OK thanks. I get it. Thank you. I was wondering if the information is authentic enough (since all of it can be edited by wiki editors) why can't it be done here itself. But Thank you for the insight. I guess people and organization who can afford to pay or buy services can only have existence on Wikipedia. Sad but true!
Can you at least unblock me? Devilsgem0 (talk) 08:42, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
If I unblock you, will you agree to not make any edits about Act Now or any related entity? -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 09:13, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Arey Mam Tamzin, I am powerless now. Yes I will not write about Act Now since it will be blocked again. I will request someone else to make a page for it, is that right?
Just on a personal note - I checked your profile, it seems so impressive. Would agree with me that (though Wikipedia objectives and policies are quote justified) today's digital world allows only for HAVES that can afford to buy services and looks down upon resourceless smaller entities, hence the state of our current environment. Just check how many insignificant people and organizations are there who can afford to have themselves mentioned.
I will be grateful for your unblocking and may you suggest me any wiki authors who can check credentials and make a page for us in gratis!
when you have a moment, do check our world effort (all for free!) https://actnow.org.in/onlyoneearth-actnow-2022.html
Thanks again! Devilsgem0 (talk) 10:00, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia does not sell articles. Some people do pay third-party contractors to write articles. Most of the contractors are very bad at it, and violate our terms of service, and the articles get deleted and they make it harder for their clients going forward. But the vast majority of Wikipedia articles are created for free. But your nonprofit probably does not yet meet our notability standards, and when it does, it might take a while for one of our volunteer editors to get around to writing to it. But give it enough time, keep your nonprofit in the news, and it will happen eventually.
So, I am unblocking you on the condition that you not edit about Act Now. As an exception, I will give you permission to submit one entry at Wikipedia:Requested articles/Business and economics/Organizations and, if someone contacts you about it, to engage in any conversation that may result. If that does lead to the creation of a draft or article, you may contribute to it through edit requests. Finally, the two exceptions to all editing restrictions on Wikipedia, described at WP:BANEX, apply.
Happy editing. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 10:27, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a ton! Noted and keep in mind. Might bother you in future too :) Devilsgem0 (talk) 10:48, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
