November 2020 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page List of American and Canadian football leagues has been reverted.
Your edit here to List of American and Canadian football leagues was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://handsfootball.wordpress.com/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Speedy deletion nomination of National Hand Touch Football League edit

Hello Demons24,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged National Hand Touch Football League for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Speedy deletion nomination of National Hand Touch Football League edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on National Hand Touch Football League, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 4thfile4thrank (talk) 20:08, 30 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

You need to slow down a bit edit

Hi there. Well, that was a mess for me to sort out! I'm afraid I was on a tiny mobile earlier on when I saw your cry for help on my talk page, and couldn't properly attempt to sort out your creation of National Hand Touch Football League, which had been CSD-nominated. I removed the speedy deletion template and tried to draftify it to save it being speedily deleted, but found that a draft had already been created at Draft:National Hand Touch Football League. At the time, and via my small screen, I'd not appreciated the draft had been made by you, and thought other editors had made it. It certainly looked better structured than what you put into mainspace, but still needed more work. So I copied the article's contents to your sandbox (where I note you have another version of the page, as well as a further copy on your userpage - the latter you should remove as it's not appropriate there, please) and would like you to slow down a bit and work on the draft article until such time as it is of sufficient merit to be reviewed at WP:AFC and accepted into mainspace. As I think you've just spotted, I've put a submission button on that draft. But don't rush it - there is no deadline!

Creating an article on Wikipedia is the hardest thing any editor can do, and requires proper sources and a proper structure, and be able to clearly show a topic meets our notability criteria, or this set of notability criteria for sports. It was way off that, with very inadequate references and would have been put up for a deletion discussion had it remained there, and not been converted back to a draft. So this is a second chance for you to perhaps more slowly understand how Wikipedia works, and to prepare an article that merits being on Wikipedia, and to submit it for review. (I've just seen you've posted on my talk page to ask if I will be working to improve it. The answer is, No - I'm afraid I know nothing about sport, but I know enough to explain that this is the best chance for your proto-article not to have been deleted completely. If you need any further guidance, my fellow hosts at the The Teahouse might be able to advise, but please read WP:YFA, Help:Introduction, WP:REFBEGIN so that you come to understand the key elements of creating an article that survives in the main encyclopaedia.

My apologies for the delay in explaining all this - it took a while to get away from the family and to find a proper keyboard to write all this guff! Good luck. Nick Moyes (talk) 21:41, 30 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks for your draft on National Hand Touch Football League this is vary helpful in what I needed to do. Demons24 (talk) 21:45, 30 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I moved your user page, User:Demons24, to User:Demons24/sandbox2. Your user page is meant to tell other editors about your activities on Wikipedia. You can leave it blank if you choose. It is not for draft articles. Draft articles should be created as "user sub-pages" or as pages whose name starts with Draft:. For more information on user pages and user sub-pages, read Wikipedia:User pages. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 01:07, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

December 2020 edit

  Hello, I'm 4thfile4thrank. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Balloon (game) have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. 4thfile4thrank (talk) 01:22, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry for that I just wanted to contribute I do want to re add them if you would please? Demons24 (talk) 01:23, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

NO! Do not add rubbish content to articles. That was an utterly pointless video, with no value whatsoever. We need you to use far better judgement if you are going to improve articles. And avoid edit-warring. If someone reverts one of uour edits, do not simply reinsert it. Consider, instead, why they viewed your edit as inappropriate for this encyclopaedia. Thanks. Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Demons24. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:40, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Does this mean I can edit the page now? Demons24 (talk) 01:46, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

It means you should avoid editing pages you have a direct conflict of interest with. Since you claimed here that you created the league yourself, I strongly suggest you refrain from editing the subject matter and wait for someone else in the world to create an article for the league once/if it becomes notable enough for a Wikipedia article. And please stop posting on random users' talk pages, this is not a social media website. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:50, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I will wait patiently I know it’s not a social media site I am aware of that I am not trying to bother you guys at all by using social media I will wait Demons24 (talk) 01:53, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of National Hand Touch Football League edit

If this was the first article that you created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

The page National Hand Touch Football League has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appeared to be about a club, society, or group that did not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. You are blocked for repeatedly recreating a page, engaging in meatpuppetry, and overall disruptive editing. Eagles 24/7 (C) 05:21, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Demons24: Sorry you got off on the wrong foot. If you decide to come back, consider spending a few weeks just familiarizing yourself with how Wikipedia works. Read WP:Five Pillars, Help:About, WP:What Wikipedia is not, and Help:My first article. Avoid writing about things that would put you in a situation where WP:Conflict of interest applies. Specifically avoid editing pages where people might wonder if WP:Paid editing disclosure applies.
In the meantime, consider visiting the Wikimedia Commons at Commons:Main page and consider uploading photos which YOU have taken in which nobody else has any copyright interests (this varies by country, but definitely no "pictures of pictures" unless the "picture" you are photographing is in the public domain, like a very old map). Read Commons:Copyrights for details - the Commons is MUCH more strict about copyright law than the English Wikipedia, "fair use" is explicitly prohibited. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 13:35, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Collaboration and conflicts of interest edit

While collaboration is strongly encouraged on Wikipedia, "off-Wiki" collaboration which is not publicly disclosed can lead to allegations of meat-puppetry or sock-puppetry, both of which can result in blocks or topic-bans for all editors involved.

This is ESPECIALLY true if there is a conflict of interest on the part of ANY of the collaborating editors.

If you are collaborating with someone who has any association with the National Hand Touch Football League other than as a casual fan, you should consider yourself as having a "conflict of interest" with respect to this topic and related topics even if you normally would not have a conflict of interest. The reason is that, human nature being what it is, your collaboration with someone who does have a conflict of interests will likely make it harder to edit from a neutral point of view, if not outright impossible.

The same applies if a friend who has a conflict of interest asked you to write such an article or contribute to such an article even if there is no collaboration beyond that point.

Given what you said above about the other editor being a player in the league, I strongly recommend that you and anyone collaborating with you or that person

  • Only create draft articles, not actual articles, about this and related subjects. This means NOT moving them into the main encyclopedia.
  • Do not begin drafting about a topic until you are a lot more than "50% sure" that the topic itself meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines AND you have a collection of reliable, independent sources that, together, demonstarate that the topic you want to write about has received significant from these reliable, independent sources. If you do begin drafting and the topic is "not notable" you will be wasting your time and the time of others who review the draft.
  • Please add Template:Connected contributor or Template:Connected contributor (paid) to the bottom of the "top" section of the draft's talk page.
  • Do not submit the draft until you understand Wikipedia's notability guidelines, it's citation practices, and WP:What Wikipedia is not well enough that you are significantly more than 50% sure that it will survive a deletion discussion if it is nominate for deletion and nearly 100% sure that it does not qualify for speedy deletion. Again, if you fail to do this, your draft will be declined and you will be wasting your time and ours.
  • If it is submitted and rejected, drop it and pick another topic.
  • If it is submitted and declined, read the "decline" message carefully and thoroughly. You may realize "you are wasting your time" with that topic. If so, pick another. Otherwise, address all of the concerns before re-submitting.
  • If you get comments on the draft, listen to them, especially if they come from experienced editors.
  • Once a draft IS accepted, your part is pretty much done. As an editor with a conflict of interest, you should not be making substantial changes to the article. "Substantial" means anything that changes the meaning. There are exceptions - you can remove inaccurate information from WP:Biographies of living persons but you can't replace it with the correct information, at least not directly. All substantial changes must be made to the talk page using the Template:Requested edit template.

Items in italics apply to editors with conflicts of interest. The rest are good practices for all editors writing draft articles.

Failure to follow these guidelines will result in wasted time and frustration on your part, wasted time on our part, and if it becomes excessive, people may wonder if you are here to build an encyclopedia or NOT here to build an encyclopedia.

Please read WP:Paid editing disclosure. If it applies to you, follow its instructions. If you are collaborating with others and you think it applies to them, please let them know AND edit as if it applied to you. If you are collaborating with someone who is a "paid editor," then considering yourself as if you are a "paid editor" even if you aren't one will save you frustration later.

I want your experience reading and editing Wikipedia to be enjoyable and constructive. That may mean that there will never be an article about this semi-professional sport league, at least not one written by you or anyone you are working with. But that is okay. As long as you are here to build an encyclopedia you are not only welcome, but encouraged to participate. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:08, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please communicate on-wiki edit

When it comes to discussing content, I prefer to discuss thing "on-wiki" rather than through email unless there is a good reason not to (i.e. asking for sensitive material to be removed). This provides transparency.

If you want to communicate about freely licensed images or freely licensed videos, please use the Commons. You can use your talk page or mine.

If you wish to talk about things that are specific to the English Wikipedia, including images which are not freely licensed, please wait until your block expires then communicate with me on your talk page, on my talk page, or on the relevant article's or draft article's talk page, or the relevant WikiProject's talk page.

If you talk to me any place other than my talk page here or my talk page on the Commons, please use the WP:Notifications mechanism. The easiest way to do that is to use {{re}} if you are replying to a message I wrote to you, or {{ping}} if you want my attention and you are not replying directly to something I said. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:54, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I don’t want attention I was just adding that there was a League that was played I had video proof of that League Demons24 (talk) 16:58, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

In light of your indefinite block, I recommend you read WP:Standard offer and WP:Fresh start, then stay away from editing all Wikipedia/Wikimedia projects until you decide you want to contribute to a project on topics that aren't particularly interesting to you. In any case, I recommend taking at least 1 month away from all Wikipedia-related projects. Then, if it's been less than 6 months, stay away from the English Wikipedia until 6 months from today. If after 6 months you want to contribute on topics that are not "close to your heart" then follow the unblock instructions in #December 2020 below. In any case, don't try to edit on the topics which have gotten you into trouble here. If that league really does rise to the level of being "notable" someone else will write about it. Or they won't. It's no longer your concern. Or rather, as long as it is a concern of yours, you should avoid all Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects, just to avoid the same thing happening there as what happened here.
By the way, I speak from experience: I came to Wikipedia with "an agenda" at the encouragement of others who shared the same agenda. I was blocked "indefinitely." I was eventually reinstated, but I generally avoid the topic areas that got me into trouble even though I long ago repudiated my earlier behavior and my earlier agenda, which I no longer believe in (please don't ask for details, I will just say it was "meatpuppetry" and point-of-view-pushing). I hope one day you both want to come back and contribute and you have the wherewithal to avoid editing in topic areas that are "near and dear to your heart."
Also, please avoid using email. With respect to content on the English Wikipedia, we have nothing to discuss until you are reinstated. With respect to non-content issues, you can still edit this talk page and use {{ping}} to get my attention. With respect to other Wikipedia/Wikimedia projects, I prefer to discuss things "on-wiki." davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:21, 2 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
