October 2010 edit

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Mandela Rhodes Scholarship. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. I see you've changed your username since your previous username was blocked; please note that the rule about not removing speedy deletion templates from articles you've created yourself applies to you, not your username. How about those who think it should be marked for deletion giving reasons that are specific to the article or remove the notice Dele1234 (talk) 08:50, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

The reason I gave is one of the criteria for speedy deletion, and I also explained the reason on the article's talk page. The article is excessively promotional, to the extent that it requires a fundamental rewrite in order to be considered encyclopaedic. Please see our neutrality policy. Ok. How about you do the "fundamental re-write" then except you don't think the subject is notable and explain why. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dele1234 (talkcontribs)

If someone is willing to rewrite the article, they can do so now to prevent its speedy deletion, or rewrite it after it is speedily deleted. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 09:01, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, you seem to be the person who is dissatisfied with the article, that's why I ask you to do the re-write or to be more specific as to what exactly makes it "excessively promotional". I have compared it to the article on "Rhodes Scholarship" and both of them have the same tone in my opinion. Would you recommend that the article becomes a subsection of the "Rhodes Scholarship"? The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship is very impressive, it is difficult to outline its attributes without appearing to be promoting it.
