Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. Mwanner | Talk 18:42, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia. /wangi 19:43, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

You wrote: "Hi, I'm an avid listener of "Philosophy Talk," [...]. What's wrong with linking to it?"

If you are indeed a listener, and not affiliated with the site, there is nothing wrong with adding links to it, other than the fact that if that's all you do, you'll trigger a lot of editor's spam radar, as you did mine and wangi's.
Wikipedia is being fairly massively spammed these days, and a typical spammer's edit history looks just like yours-- lots of edits adding the same site to the external links of lots of articles. What I would suggest, if you feel like re-adding them, is to slow down, and do some work on the articles besides just adding the link. One or two edits per article would make all the difference (spammers can't be bothered), and the articles generally all need something. Besides, you might find that there are articles that really don't need the link if you spend some time reading what's there-- external links are only supposed to be added if they cover material that can't be added to the article contents directly. So, for instance, if a show covers many of the same points as our article, but has one or two points that our article is missing but that could be covered in the article, it is better to summarize those point in your own language and add that to the article than to add the external link. Also, you're bound to learn something along the way.
Anyway, I'm sorry that your first efforts were reverted. If you could see the amount of spamming we get, you would understand. Hope you take my suggestions to heart, and stay around. It's a great place to work. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! -- Mwanner | Talk 21:53, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Portland06.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Portland06.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:10, 13 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Diagnosis: Userpagious emptiosus

edit
USEYOURNAME Greetings and Welcome! I noticed that your username shows up red when you post an edit -- in case you were wondering why, this is because your userpage is devoid of content. If you were to place anything at all on your userpage (text, photographs, etc.), your username would then appear blue by default. By convention, most serious contributing editors place information about themselves on their userpages, and as a result, editors whose usernames are still red may appear to other editors as lacking a serious motivation in both editing Wikipedia articles as well as joining the Wikipedia community at large. I therefore recommend that you place something on your userpage, such as information relating to your city of residence and occupation -- basically anything that will allow another editor to identify with you and peer into your mind a bit. You can check out other editors' userpages to get an idea of what is normally included (find them easiest by checking the history tab on randomly chosen yet substantial articles), and even copy/paste from other editors' userpages (modifying the information to reflect your own, of course).
