June 2022 edit

Hello, I'm -Alabama-. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Josiah Zayner—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. -Alabama- (talk) 18:31, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

I replaced he/him pronounces with they/them pronouns on the Josiah Zayner page. I added a citation https://amateurgods.substack.com/p/biohacking-to-change-my-gender and signed my edit. Deepfriedoreo (talk) 18:34, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, please read Wikipedia:Reliable sources because that doesn't seem like independent sources. Independent sources are used on Wikipedia that do not come from blogs or self-publishing, and even more so if they are biographies of living people. Once you understand what sources you can consult, add the information, but do not change the pronouns, if it is male or female (biologically speaking, and unless he's a trans person) you have to use the corresponding pronouns. You only add referenced information that explains which pronouns the biographee has revealed with which he feels identified. Thanks, -Alabama- (talk) 18:46, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
You mean on Wikipedia, a person isn't considered a reliable source for their own gender identity? That seems like a very strange policy, and I don't think you're right. The page you cited even mentions,

"Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, especially in articles about themselves, without the requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as the following criteria are met:

The material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim. It does not involve claims about third parties (such as people, organizations, or other entities). It does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject. There is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity. The Wikipedia article is not based primarily on such sources."

And the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Gender_identity#Self-identification says Wikipedia refers "to people according to their gender self-identification".
