 Welcome Decorning!

Hello, Decorning. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions! I'm Crtew, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.
Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
    Introduction to Wikipedia
    The five pillars of Wikipedia
    Editing tutorial
    How to edit a page
    Simplified Manual of Style
    The basics of Wikicode
    How to develop an article
    How to create an article
    Help pages
    What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Do's and Don'ts:
    Do be bold
    Do assume good faith
    Do be civil
    Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
    Don't spam
    Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
    Don't vandalize
    Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
    Ask a question
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page, and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
    Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
    Help contribute to articles

    Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
    Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Sincerely, Crtew (talk) 13:11, 27 August 2012 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)Reply

Editing

edit

Decorning, Now edit your user page. Click on "user page" to get there on the top left and then on "edit this page." Be sure to create a section, use wikilink (or two brackets before and after an article term), and a list of interests with links. Have fun, Crtew (talk) 13:11, 27 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Just in case you did try and were not successful let me share what has happened to others. There are two reasons why some students' have not been able to create their user page. First, they are not clicking on create, writing a message and then saving. Saving your work is crucial. The other thing is that a few students have been writing in their sandbox and not on their user page. Of course, there could be some other reason but try these out! Assignment

edit

You've been assigned Mario A. Segura for coverage of journalists during the Mexican Drug War. Here's a link to the article about journalists killed in the Mexican Drug War.

Please fill out your user page with a brief introduction and then save page. Then I can give you some materials to begin your assignment. I also think you didn't set your email, which makes it hard to know if you received this talk message or not.Crtew (talk) 02:01, 10 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Abukar Hassan Mohamoud

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Abukar Hassan Mohamoud requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Hack (talk) 16:56, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

I deleted the article in question, if you want to make test edits please use either your user page or the Wikipedia:Sandbox. Thanks, James086Talk | Email 17:06, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Education Program: student survey!

edit

Hi! I work with the Wikipedia Education Program, and I'm hoping to get your feedback about your experience this semester! In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it would be very helpful to hear from real program students about their experience, so we know what to change. The survey takes no more than 10 minutes, and I'd really appreciate your response!

Thanks so much! JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 01:53, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
