Speedy deletion nomination of Muchily edit

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion nomination of Dean Barrie edit

A tag has been placed on Dean Barrie requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Speedy deletion nomination of Hoogle edit

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Hoogle, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Team Touchdown edit

Sorry, but "anyone can edit" doesn't mean "anyone can write articles about anything they like." Wikipedia only manages to be a useful encyclopedia by having a clear idea what sort of subjects are acceptable for articles: they have to be notable, which isn't a subjective judgement - it means that other people, independent of the subject, have thought it interesting and important enough to write about. Have you thougt of making a page about your team on Myspace? The links in the Welcome paragraph above will tell you more about contributing to Wikipedia. Speedy deletion edit

Hi Deanops. I saw your messages about Team touchdown (I was the person who tagged it for deletion yesterday, but somebody else did when you recreated it today). The deletion criterion the article met is A7: The article (at least the version of it I tagged; I didn't see the later recreation) didn't provide a credible indication of why its subject was important or significant. Articles in Wikipedia need to meet certain standards: generally speaking, they need to concern the kinds of content that would normally be covered by an encyclopedia. A school sports team usually would not. (Our notability guideline, and our notes on what Wikipedia is not, explain this in more detail.)

I did see the talk page before it was deleted, where you said you were trying to create the page for a school project. We do have a list of alternative outlets to Wikipedia that might be better suited to the kind of page you're trying to create. That list should help you find some wiki that isn't an encyclopedia where you can host your page instead. You can also ask the admin who deleted your page, most recently JohnCD, if they could send you a copy of the deleted page so your work isn't lost and you can recreate it on a more appropriate other website.

Does this help? Gonzonoir (talk) 10:31, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sourcing for Team touchdown edit

Hi Deanops. Please see Talk:Team touchdown for discussion of the article's notability. Can you give us any links to articles that show the team are nationally competitive, or give us a precise citation to demonstrate that? Gonzonoir (talk) 11:09, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Team touchdown edit

The article Team touchdown has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability or even existence

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Re: Team touchdown edit

When your block is over, may I strongly urge you not to consider re-creating the Team touchdown article? While it is obviously an important part of your life, on Wikipedia we have articles about subjects which are notable to the world in general (see Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)). The basic principle that we use to show notability is coverage in independent, reliable sources (see Wikipedia:Independent sources and Wikipedia:Reliable sources).

My advice to you would be to find press coverage of the team - preferably in a national or international newspaper or magazine. I looked for this, and was unable to find any.

If you can find these, use the Article Wizard (here) to create a draft article on your user space (on the final step ("6. End") there is an option for this). Make sure that as you go through the Wizard, you read carefully each page, which explains what Wikipedia requires for an article to be kept.

Then, if you want some help, leave a polite message either here on your talk page (which is on my watchlist, so I will see when changes are made to it), or on my talk page.

However, be aware that if you cannot find any reliable sources, then it would not be possible to create an article that will be kept! Further attempts to re-create the article on the encyclopedia could lead to a permanent block from using Wikipedia.
