Hello Daxmaryrussel, and welcome to Wikipedia! The first thing you should know is that we encourage you to be bold. Feel free to edit and improve articles, by clicking any 'edit' link.

If you'd like to test what Wikipedia can do, check out the sandbox - just type and save the page and your text will appear. That's the beauty of a Wiki.

For more information check out our tutorial - it's designed with newcomers in mind, as is the help section. If you'd like to get involved with current projects, have a look at the Community Portal. There are always tasks for users to do, ranging from copyediting to expanding stubs.

I hope you'll enjoy your time here, but be warned, it can become addictive! Feel free to message me, I'm more than happy to help. As an added tip, sign any message you post so users know that you've said it. To do so is delightfully simple, just use the wikicode ~~~~.

Once again, welcome!

Image help

edit

Alperton tube station

That is your picture. To use it in an article just use this code: [[Image:240_alpertontubestation.jpg|center|thumb|400px|Alperton tube station]]

That'll produce the image exactly how it is above. You can change where it is on the page (left/right/center), the size (edit 200px to whatever number you like. 200px is the standard for articles however). You can also add text below the image like my example 'Alperton tube station'. Again, it's just a process of editing that code.

Hopefully that helps a little. I agree that it isn't straightforward at first, but it's (in my opinion) a little easier than HTML.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Claudia Christian, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.-- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 09:48, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for comments. I wasn't aware I had deleted anything - except the "non"face picture that was there to put in mine, as it said I could do. Hmm I need to read a lot of welcoming and instruction pages, this is very complicated to write stuff and half the time I'm not sure how to get back to my talk page. I find the different codes very complicated, prefer html and I don't even know html. Look at the code up here... wow... I basically copy someone else's code and then change the text. Anyhow - thanks for all your help -- Daxmaryrussel (Daxmaryrussel (talk) 16:37, 15 December 2007 (UTC))Reply
If you actively want the image removed from Wikipedia, you may request a deletion by adding the template {{db-author}} to the top of the Image:Claudia Christian UK 2004.jpg image. As long as the image is part of Wikipedia, there is nothing to stop an editor re-adding it to the Claudia Christian article. -- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 14:05, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK great - I tried to do it but I probably failed. Can you check for me and/or put the right code in? I'll be ever so grateful -- Daxmaryrussel (Daxmaryrussel (talk) 09:08, 9 December 2007 (UTC))Reply
Why do you want to remove the image ...? lɘɘяɘM яɘɫƨɐƮ 14:21, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Claudia didn't want the picture there and was saying that to my friend (who is cut out from the orig. picture) - So I though why not honour her request even though the picture is great. -- Daxmaryrussel (Daxmaryrussel (talk) 16:41, 15 December 2007 (UTC))Reply

Yes, King Crimson ...

edit

... is a band indeed, so our article will end up saying that "they are" a band, even if that is so silly that it almost hurts. Been there, done that. I hate it too, but there's nothing we can do about it, so you better prepare for seeing courageous edits like this and this being undone until you either get tired or blocked. My advice is not to risk the latter. With sympathy. Cheers - DVdm (talk) 22:29, 11 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
