NHL standings

edit

Stop updating the NHL standings in the middle of the day. The standings are supposed to updated at the end of the night when every team has played. Yowashi (talk) 21:41, 3 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Alright, didn't know that, thank you! Dave Ondzuls (talk) 15:35, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Updates

edit

Please wait until all matches from the same starting time are completed, we don't go game-by-game (unless there is a major delay at one game). Kante4 (talk) 15:26, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Alright, thank you for the suggestion! Dave Ondzuls (talk) 15:51, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please check the official standings (which are given). 2 wins in 2 games is ahead of 2 games in 3 wins. Kante4 (talk) 16:18, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

watch out for the possibility of 3-way ties in the standings. For example Canada, Latvia, and France could still all finish with 2 wins and if Canada loses by a lot to Latvia they could still be out. Unlikely but still possible.18abruce (talk) 12:23, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

2025 IIHF World Championship

edit

I noticed you swapped USA and Sweden in the groups, where did you find that information? I can't see anywhere that the IIHF has announced the groups and there are other ways that Sweden and Denmark could end up being in separate groups.18abruce (talk) 23:40, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Usually they swap the top-seeded host to the other group with the closest seed which is in the other group. I do think that it's the case now too, but we couldn't be sure because of the reason IIHF hasn't announced the groups yet. We'll have to wait and see. Dave Ondzuls (talk) 14:25, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
It has happened twice before with shared hosting, in 2017 Germany moved groups (higher), in 2013 Sweden moved groups (lower), there is no 'usually'. In 2018 Denmark wanted to sell a Sweden group and a Denmark group, the lower ranked Denmark was moved. I am going to move Sweden back to the group where they are seeded until there is a source.18abruce (talk) 20:41, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
The Czech hockey federation just confirmed the groups. I'm guessing that they must be official. You can have a look. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/733414159315894445/1245404708160540723/GOwIX1IXoAAvMNR.png?ex=6658a104&is=66574f84&hm=7147b9cc6c273e88eb0d4c814f41673db58c672f5f65b981b6fc10f8c738d2ab&=&format=webp&quality=lossless&width=530&height=662 Dave Ondzuls (talk) 16:49, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Players name

edit

Accept the practice for some players name. This is Wikipedia, not UEFA. Island92 (talk) 21:05, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia pages are based ONLY on official sources and we are not allowed to put in the information by ourselves. Please, stop editing them. Dave Ondzuls (talk) 21:07, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not always like that. Please stop insisting on causing edit war. Island92 (talk) 21:09, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it is ALWAYS like that. Please read Wikipedia guidelines and then come back. I will cause editing war if you don't stop editing the source. Dave Ondzuls (talk) 21:10, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
You might be blocked if insisting. I've warned you. This is not a threat. Island92 (talk) 21:11, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay. I just really want you to actually go and read the Wikipedia guidelines. I repeat, ALL of the pages are supposed to be based on official sources.
If we don't come to a middle point in this argument, is there some kind of an admin/a person who could solve this situation? Dave Ondzuls (talk) 21:13, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Even the Turkish-languaged page uses their short names. And once again, it's not practice, it has always been like that and no one had any problems with that. What arguments make you think you're in right here? Leprazoori (talk) 21:14, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
What does this have to do with turkish-languaged pages? The official source for this competition is UEFA.com, so you should stick to it.
Well if it's the practice, then it's wrong and that should be finally changed because the official source, UEFA.com, says something otherwise.
What do you mean by "you're in right here"?
Also, my question is, if we don't come to a middle point in this argument, is there an admin/a person who can solve this? Dave Ondzuls (talk) 21:17, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is no situation to be solved. That is practice/consensus established here on Wikipedia in the Football Project for some Players name, despite what UEFA says. You are new to Wikipedia. Just that. And the same for Fabián rather than Fabián Ruiz. Island92 (talk) 21:20, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
So I'm saying, maybe the practice should be changed since Wikipedia is a page which relies on official sources and it's one of the most important rules here? Dave Ondzuls (talk) 21:23, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you want to change the practice, start a talk topic and not an edit war. It should stay like that until we don't come to a consensus. Leprazoori (talk) 21:24, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
For that start a new talk in the Wikipedia Football Project. Island92 (talk) 21:25, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) The official source for this competition is UEFA.com, so you should stick to it So if UEFA.com spells a player's name incorrectly, we must as well? We are not an exact copy of UEFA, we source some of their information, but we have our own editorial standards and guidelines which supersede UEFA's own internal practices. I agree with the other users that we should not write the player's names in these ways. Please also be advised of WP:3RR, you are on 10 reverts today when users are not supposed to exceed 3. Any further edit warring and this will likely result at WP:AN/EW. S.A. Julio (talk) 21:26, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

June 2024

edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on UEFA Euro 2024 Group F. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. S.A. Julio (talk) 21:17, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for message.
I just wanted to ask about this, if we can't find an agreement point with the other users, is there a person who can solve the situation? Dave Ondzuls (talk) 21:20, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Accept this practice and move on. Island92 (talk) 21:21, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please stick to our own talk page and let me have a conversation with the user who left the message. Dave Ondzuls (talk) 21:24, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Regarding is there a person who can solve the situation: not a single person, see Wikipedia:Consensus and Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. We try to resolve issues through discussion to gain a consensus. The best way to resolve the matter would be to discuss with other users on Talk:UEFA Euro 2024 Group F or Talk:UEFA Euro 2024. If that does not work, you can talk with other users at WT:FOOTY. For contentious issues, Wikipedia:Requests for comment and Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard serve as further steps to resolve the conflict, often involving outside input. Just please avoid the back-and-forth edit warring, it is extremely unproductive. S.A. Julio (talk) 21:27, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please take care that Croatia is mathematically behind of Hungary and 3rd from Group D/E. So the only possible way that Croatia could qualify i throught ABDE combination. Stigni (talk) 21:23, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
