As a member of the Wikipedia community, I would like to remind you of Wikipedia's neutral-point-of-view policy for editors, which you appear to have violated at Jessica Lynch. In the meantime, please be bold and continue contributing to Wikipedia.

I know you may think you made the article better with the change 13:10, January 23, 2007 ("rescued" denotes removing someone from harm's way - Jessica was in hospital, being cared for. One can't be "rescued" from people helping you, unless you use the word sarcastically.). However, I found that statement rather pro-Bathist and definitely POV.

Just being in a hospital may not be a good thing. There are hospitals — and there are hospitals. The typical Iraqi hospital of the time was probably not as good as a modern military unit. Furthermore, in some regimes, hospitals are probably places of "interrogation." The staff interrogate — then then treat.

If you can find more neutral wording, I will support it. Until then, the wording used by the media (which has always included "rescue") is safer. Will (Talk - contribs) 00:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Using POV words such as "rescue" is clearly misleading. There is absolutely no evidence she was in any danger - your guesswork of interrogation and lack of healthcare are completely unfounded, based on nothing but conjecture. The correct word is clearly "retrieved", as that is entirely NPOV. It's not Ba'athist, it's not biased, it's not incorrect. On the contrary, the use of the word "rescued" is not neutral - it's pro-US, biased, and fundamentally incorrect. "Retrieved" is the only rational choice of words. The evidence of what happened shows she received perfectly-adequate medical care, and was treated as one would hope. No interrogation, no coercion, no trauma, no rape, nothing. Even Lynch herself admits to that. Just because the SEALs thought she might be in trouble doesn't mean she was "rescued", as danger must exist for one to be rescued from it, not just the alleged perception of danger. As the article is in British (and not American) English, I have reverted your edit: connection -> connexion. Had you bothered to check, you would have found that this matter has been discussed before - and, I thought, resolved. Since there is no possible confusion, I don't know why you changed it. (Not that you're the first, but there is a history of this change and reversion before.) Please look before you do this sort of thing again ... and, no: I'm not annoyed, just slightly disappointed. That doesn't change the fact that "connexion" is an archaic spelling in British English. It's very, very rarely used in British English (which, as a Brit, I'm rather well aware of). I don't know why you want to use a spelling that most British people would never use. Why disappointed? Wikipedia is a place for knowledge, not personal bias towards the archaic.
