I was only uploading safe images for Aaliyah's main infobox image. I keep getting shut down when all I'm doing is trying to update her image so it can show Aaliyah at her best as an AALIYAH fan. I think I'm the only one of her fans on here. The images were my own work because I edited them. I did not get them from Google Images. That is why I should be unblocked. Thank You

Editing other people's images doesn't make them yours. People tried over and over to tell you to stop uploading, but you continued. Why?—Kww(talk) 05:07, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

First, this is ridiculous. How does Wikipedia expect images of FAMOUS artists to be uploaded if all of it is copyrighted. Where am I suppose to get an image of Aaliyah or Michael Jackson from. Yall think I have personal pictures of them on my camera or something. It's not making sense. Most pictures from celebrities are used everywhere, but you are blocking me like a criminal. I'm just an AALIYAH Fan trying to update her profile image. Yall trying to make people feel so bad for uploading images found almost everywhere. Do you have personal pictures of Aaliyah? Also, the image that is Currently being used as Aaliyah's profile image is COPYRIGHTED...because I've seen it in Google Images and on multiple blogs So, how didn't that image get removed...because it's not original,it's a photoshoot image easily found on Google. Thank you for pointing out the issue with the image currently on the page. Another editor has nominated it for deletion from Commons because it is not a free image. (Commons allows only free images.)

Regarding your question, for a live celebrity, yes, we expect you to take personal pictures of them on your camera. If you take the picture yourself, and you can demonstrate that you took the picture yourself, then you my license it under a suitable free license (Creative Commons, GFDL, or public domain). Then the image can be used by Wikipedia and pretty much anybody else.

There are limited exceptions, but as a general rule, we cannot use non-free images of living people in their articles. The presumption is that, since they're alive, somebody else could take a free image of the person to serve the same purpose. Thus, the non-free image fails our non-free content usage criterial, because a free image to serve the same purpose could be obtained.

With a dead celebrity, we lose the ability to take a new free image, so there is some relaxation of the rules about non-free images. However, the image still has to be attributed to the original creator, marked as a non-free image, and have non-free usage criteria listed for any and every article the image is used in.

Finally, just because the images are found everywhere doesn't mean that other sites are using them properly. We're not responsible for their misuse; we're only responsible to make sure we use them properly. Well if someone uploads an image for her info box it would not be a problem. It's real funny how everyone was ignoring me when I was asking about images for her info box but when I upload an image , everyone wants to get on their jobs. Point is I'm not leaving her info box empty and since you want to talk about what people will notice. Visitors to Aaliyah's page will NOTICE no image which is a problem . Somebody upload a non free image then. Most images used on celeb pages who have died are copyrighted and they don't get deleted . But not for Aaliyah. Upload an image and you won't have to worry about copyrights or whatever !!! Datyger (talk)

Platinum status

According to this url, Aaliyah's album, Age Ain't Nothing But a Number, has only been certified double platinum. Please refrain from changing it back to triple platinum without providing a more reliable source than the RIAA. Thanks! --Yamla (talk) 00:38, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

You have been previously blocked for uploading copyrighted image, please don't add the image again. It fails wikipedia copyright laws and if an admin reverts the image, they can be tempted to block you again. Once the bot deletes the image, it doesn't replace it so the article may be without an image for weeks. Non-free images are only useful for articles where there is no other option for an image, Lupita is now a known actress so there will be more picture of her in the future so the NFC rules does not apply to her..--Stemoc (talk) 03:45, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

That is the American release date, not the earliest release date, which is July 7th (in Japan) as cited in Aaliyah (album)#Release history. The earliest known date should only be in the infobox (Template:Infobox album#Released). Dan56 (talk) 17:19, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
