June 2019 edit

This is your only warning; if you insert a spam link to Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Hiding Amazon URLs inside citation templates is sneaky and not OK. Drmies (talk) 01:35, 27 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • @Drmies: - Thank you for editing my contribution. I did not realize that the links I was inserting were considered span. I thought it was evidence of the book. I hope this will not cause me to be blacklisted. I will do more reading about how to use Wikipedia and post more questions. Can you respond so I know you've seen this? I'm not sure how to communicate with you... (DashGraham (talk) 14:34, 27 June 2019 (UTC))Reply
    • I'm sorry, but that an Amazon link can be considered spam shouldn't require much explanation. "Evidence" of the book's existence isn't all that big a deal, and the ISBN covers that. Real evidence, which proves notability and noteworthiness, is provided by evidence from secondary sources. This, for instance, can't be considered a reliable review: it is not "published" in the sense that a review in a literary journal or a newspaper is published--with editorial oversight, etc. I'm all for poetry and poets, but it has to be done properly, meaning neutrally and with reliable, independent sourcing. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 16:14, 28 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
      • @Drmies: Thank you. I appreciate your time on this. One question, did you mean to write "A review in a literary journal or newspaper is published -- WITHOUT editorial oversight...." I want to make sure I understand this going forward.(DashGraham (talk) 17:53, 28 June 2019 (UTC))Reply
        • No. Journals and newspapers have editorial oversight. For that link you provided, I cannot find such a thing. Drmies (talk) 18:56, 28 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Well, Colorado Review has a WP-article, though it's a poor one that should possibly be deleted. But it seems like a genuine magazine. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:21, 28 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Something like "Sunday Rising received a positive review in Colorado Review[1]" may be WP:DUE, if that website and the magazine are considered the same thing. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:33, 28 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Gråbergs Gråa Sång - I've emailed the librarians with the Seattle Public Library to confirm the review ran in the literary journal and will be back in touch when I have more infomration. Thank you! (DashGraham (talk) 23:02, 28 June 2019 (UTC))Reply

Ping backs edit

@Drmies: How do these work? I would love to better understand this. Can you help me?

Hello! There are several ways, for example you can write {{replyto|Drmies}} which turns into @Drmies:. But for this to work (not just be a bluelink), you also have to properly WP:SIGN your message in the same edit or else it doesn't work. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:13, 28 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Gråbergs Gråa Sång: can you tell me if this is correct as a ping back? (DashGraham (talk) 17:49, 28 June 2019 (UTC))Reply

Yep, it worked! An even shorter one is {{u|Gråbergs Gråa Sång}}. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:08, 28 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

June 2019 edit

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Discover Cooking with Lavender, from its old location at User:DashGraham/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. Sam Sailor 23:26, 28 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

DashGraham Since you have been editing but have not fixed the copyright violation, I rewrote the lead paragraph for United States Lavender Growers Association. Please do not copy text from other websites into Wikipedia articles, thanks. UrbanToreador (talk) 20:15, 1 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of United States Lavender Growers Association edit

The article United States Lavender Growers Association has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no realevidence of notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

DGG I've added one source. I am wondering if the name of the entry should be changed to U.S. Lavender Growers Association. What are your thoughts on this? (DashGraham (talk) 23:28, 3 July 2019 (UTC))Reply

I have no informed opinion, but the WP-thinking on this is WP:COMMONNAME. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:39, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

December 2020 edit

Hello DashGraham. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:DashGraham. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=DashGraham|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Blablubbs|talk 23:34, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
