No, you know very well that we don't agree on this, and that there are others who do not agree with you either. I say again: please, please refrain from any major or controversial changes until we're done discussing. Arre 02:17, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

What are you doing with the Western Sahara template? How can you imagine, after all this discussion, that its okay for you to change Western Sahara flags into Moroccan flags, all over Wikipedia? Incredible. Arre 05:21, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I can't remember accusing you of lying. I have accused you of destroying pages rather than editing them, and I have accused you of acting dishonestly by pretending to be interested in mediation and discussion, but at the same time making radically POV changes in the hope of not being noticed. You being Moroccan has nothing to do with it, you ruining hard work I put in to make these pages better, longer and more informative has everything to do with it. As for the apparently very important issue of how many days Justin/Koaf stayed at the UN, that's a debate you're the only participant in. Don't involve me. Arre 09:14, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • Have you ever read my previous post? I don't think so. Did you check the WS politics template history ? Did you see by your self that I didn't do what you are accusing me of? Why don't you recognize your fault?
  • I said that Koavf accused me of lying, but I provided evidence that he lyied about his UN affair. Provide me evidence that "I'm acting dishonestly by pretending to be interested in mediation and discussion".
  • Arre, I never accused you. What you are doing is intimidation and personal attacks. It doesn't comply with WP principles. Daryou 00:11, 31 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Western Sahara edit

I didn't restore the SADR flag, somebody else did. We could make it more neutral by adding a text with the flag (I'll do that). A fact is that the SADR is recognized by a lot of, but certainly not all of countries. The flag here doesn't mean a recognition of the SADR. 17:16, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

BTW, the CIA World Factbook is not a neutral source, since it is an USA official agency. Electionworld 21:27, 26 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
WS is a territory disputed between Morocco and Polisario front (and SADR isnt cecognized by the international community neither its flag), the conflict is now between the hands of the UN who tries to resolve it, I think that displaying this flag in a neutral encyclopedia like WP is a pro-polisario stance. And I was thinking that the USA was neutral in this affair? Cheers. Daryou 00:13, 31 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I've just protected Independence Intifada, another article that there's an edit war on right now, with yourself and the same user. I'll look into what it's about, but West Saharan politics (which I think is the subject) isn't something I know much about. Hedley 23:07, 22 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

As for my opinion, I think the entire argument is a bit stupid (to be honest). I really don't see what relevance the flag shown has, and showing both messes up the appearance of an infobox. As long as the content of the article is neutral, the flag shown should just follow conventions that are on the other articles. Hedley 23:12, 22 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
The best thing to do, then, is to remove both of the flags. Hedley 23:31, 22 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Western Sahara edit

Hi, I've replied on my talk page. - FrancisTyers 20:19, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Western Sahara/infobox edit

No, and I've stated why several times. There's more than SADR to Western Sahara's politics, so it is not only a case of "SADR politics". Having both flags could be an option, but that would require the same on the Moroccan template (which I know you oppose). Arre 15:07, 30 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

But thanks a lot for the Christmas card :-) And have a happy new year! kull 'aam wa-anta bi-khayr Arre 16:30, 30 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Hey man, could you come and give your opinion on the page moves. If there is a tie then I think we should send the matter for RfC. - FrancisTyers 16:34, 30 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Reply from my talkpage.

  • You didn't give the impression you wanted no flags, when you inserted the Moroccan flag. Whichever way, this is two debates: first, which infobox should that page have (and should it be one or two infoboxes?) - second, how should the infoboxes for Morocco, Western Sahara and (possibly) the Sahrawi republic look? Please, let's discuss this at the appropriate talk pages instead.
  • I don't quite agree, but even if I did, I can't see how this is related to what we are discussing. If you mean that WS is not synonmous with SADR, that is correct. Which is exactly why I want to have a Western Sahara infobox, and not (only) a Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic infobox. Possibly we could have both, although it seems kind of messy.
  • It is not a question of what is disputed by whom. It is a question of recognizing the existence of distinctly Western Saharan political events or not. You stated that there is no such thing as "Western Sahara politics". This can only mean that the WS politics (obviously there are political activities specifically related to this territory, such as the Indp Intifada) must be covered in either a Morocco or a SADR framework, since we have to address them somehow. If we are to keep the flags at all for these infoboxes - which you insisted on - then your edit with both Moroccan and Sahrawi flags in the WS infobox is correct, since the events in WS involves Morocco. But then the WS flag must consequently also go in the Morocco page, since Moroccan politics just as clearly involves matters of political importance to Western Sahara. That does not mean that the Sahrawis dispute the existence of Morocco, only that WS politics are by necessity part of Moroccan politics, if WS politics are to be considered part of Moroccan politics. If A=B, then B=A. Both flags, if any flag.
  • Merry Christmas to you too!
Arre 02:32, 31 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for replying on my talk page, but as I said, I'll stick to debating this on the relevant pages only. There's no point to us having a parallel user page debate on the same issues. Hope you agree! Peace, Arre 22:37, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please come and cite your sources :) I'm amazed that you only seem to be disagreeing on two things! And yet the text was very different :s - FrancisTyers 22:33, 4 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, just to let you know that although I am from England I have both British and Irish citizenship. I'd like to point out that the situation in Northern Ireland is very different than the situation in Western Sahara. Enough to make any comparison you might forward fairly meaningless. I could go through the differences and explain why this is the case if you would like. - FrancisTyers 17:27, 5 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
I didn't see any reliable neutral sources that say Northern Ireland is under military occupation. There was a Sinn Féin source that stated this. But that would be like me giving a Polisario source saying Western Sahara was under military occupation. I did not do this. I gave three sources. One from Amnesty, and two international lawyers who testified at the UN. If you can find equally neutral sources for Northern Ireland being under military occupation then I will consider taking this further. - FrancisTyers 17:38, 5 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your message, but you left out the context. I could find plenty of neutral sources that say Tibet is under military occupation, I probably couldn't find one that says California is under military occupation and I could only find Sinn Féin sources that say NI is under military occupation.
I have found neutral sources that say Western Sahara is under military occupation. The ball is in your court. Stick to the argument. As an aside, I support a United Ireland so I think you may be barking up the wrong tree with the NI references ;) - FrancisTyers 17:51, 5 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Politics. For the same reason they didn't call the Rwandan genocide a genocide for a long time. You should read this and think. The Wikipedia does not have to panda to certain points of view just because they are recognised states. The UN does. I think I explained this before. - FrancisTyers 18:08, 5 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I'll edit it now. - FrancisTyers 20:09, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Someone also asked if the section about "related propaganda and phrases" could be amplified with information about the Iraqi side. Wikipedia:Wikiethics edit

Hi,

We started a proposal Wikipedia:Wikiethics to state the existing policies coherently and make suggestions on improving the editorial standards in Wiki. I thought you might be interested in contributing to that proposal.

Unfortunately, a pro-porn and pro-offense lobby is trying to make this proposal a failure. They unilaterally started an approval poll although almost no one including me believe that it is time for a vote, simply because the policy is not ready. It is not even written completely.

Editors who thinks that the policy needs to be improved rather than killed by an unfair poll at the beginning of the proposal, started another poll ('Do we really need a poll at this stage?') at the same time. The poll is vandalized for a while but it is stable now. A NO vote on this ('Do we really need a poll now?') poll will strengthen the position of the editors who are willing to improve the ethics policy further.

If you have concerns about the ethics and editorial standards in Wiki, please visit the page Wikipedia:Wikiethics with your suggestions on the policy. We have two subpages: Arguments and Sections. You might want to consider reviewing these pages as well...

Thanks in advance. Resid Gulerdem 21:35, 22 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template:Islam edit

Hi there, The Islam template is used in all Islam related articles and it carries an image of the mosque, if you take a close look at the other religion templates they all carry an icon that actually symbolizes the particular religion. The question is what symbolizes Islam? As a muslim you would agree that we cannot Idolize any symbol as sacred as it would be Shirk. So the next question is what kind of icon would correctly represent Islam and Muslims? It is undoubtedly the Shahada, because without it we wouldn't be muslims. So I have suggested to change the template image from a masjid to a Masjid with the Shahada in it. In order to have the image in the template I need build some consense, could you kindly visit the talk page (Template_talk:Islam) and make your suggestion, lets have the template change so it will correctly represent Islam. (You do not have to support it if you dont like it). thanks in advance.  «Mÿšíc»  (T) 10:50, 16 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
