Decider edit

Dark D, there is already significant discussion of this topic, about halfway down the Bushism Discussion page.
The reason that several people felt that it should not be included is that this was already an established usage of "decider" before Bush said it (as discussed on the Bushism Discussion page). Ordinary Person 06:32, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Decider edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. You asked in Talk:Bushism about "the decider" comment. I think you missed the discussion about it a few lines earlier on the talk page. Originally, there was an entire page dedicated to "the decider". However, people objected for some reason and wanted it deleted, and a decision was reached to compromise by merging the page with Bushism. You can read about the decision at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Decider. The quote was then added to the list of Bushisms without any context. I came along later, saw this and became peeved because grammatically there is nothing wrong really with the phrase. To prove this, I assemebled a long list of sources that used the word. People seemed to accept that though they were unfamiliar with it, it was a real word, and thus the phrase is not a Bushism (i.e. "linguistic error" per the article). However, I completely agree with you that the phrase, with its clear expression of arrogance and disregard for expert opinion, has become a symbol among liberals for the Bush administration. Thus I think it deserves an entire page. Add your voice to the discussion on the talk page. nadav 06:40, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
