Could you check you're happy with how I propose to handle the Lists of plant genera names? I'm trying to handle it in a way that emphasizes the achievement, without just quoting the same introduction repeatedly. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.8% of all FPs 19:32, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, and thanks for your diligent work at the Signpost, much appreciated. Your writeup works for John and me, except there are almost 14,000 vascular plant genera ... for links to a list of those, see User:Dank/sandbox. I want to cover the 14k some day, but the etymological sources just aren't sufficient yet ... that's why our first 4 genus lists cover only the genus names that Stearn lists (and that are still accepted at PoWO). - Dank (push to talk) 19:44, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sheesh. Good luck. I presume some of those will be synonyms, obsolete, or alternate systems, but....
Anyway, added a note to that effect, including a reference to my old biology professor who still used the two-kingdom system. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.8% of all FPs 21:15, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Added much later: the lists are now generated from 4 etymological sources, and cite several more. - Dank (push to talk) 16:13, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I regret to inform you we're doing it again edit

User:ProcrastinatingReader/draft. If you wouldn't mind looking the proposal over, I think we would all appreciate it. You have a ton of institutional knowledge about this. Thank you. Enterprisey (talk!) 09:06, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it. - Dank (push to talk) 15:02, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

In friendship edit

Have a good new year, Dan! - Jerome Kohl was on the Main page today, - he is remembered in friendship - I nominated for TFA 3 and 8 March, would you please check the blurb? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:58, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm not up to speed on DYK, but that looks good to me. I'm sorry for your loss. - Dank (push to talk) 14:49, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
... our loss, - he was one of the first users to help me here, in 2009. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:40, 23 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Probable vandalism edit

Hello, I think this page has been vandalized.Venicescapes (talk) 13:23, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. It looks like it's been reverted. Jim, I'd rather not take admin actions on TFA ... you might consider protecting these pages, at least until we're done with the month. - Dank (push to talk) 16:01, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Semi-protected and block the ip for a month Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:50, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. After a couple of years of chasing vandals, I finally just started semi-protecting these pages before each month even started, with a summary of "persistent vandalism" ... because it was persistent, the unprotected pages were almost always vandalized sooner or later during their month. - Dank (push to talk) 18:26, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Diebold; edit

Hi. I tried Unburying_history and so far it remains buried due to an admin on the talk page. The conflict is a bit twilight zone. Then today, starting at Conflict-of-interest_editing_on_Wikipedia I noticed you have edited Premier Election Solutions and Diebold stuff. Then I noticed that there are no flags or anything in the current articles or their talk pages about the history of edits by the company which you have talked about. Which seems extra fishy. Thought maybe you'd have some interest/insight.

(By the way, I'm confused by your and Dank55's very odd recent editing history. You seem to be making a ton of toy edits, day after day... Can't figure out where your main account is, or your mentioned doppleganger documentation.)

It looks like you're talking about a few edits I made to the talk page of that article 13 years ago. I haven't thought about the subject or kept up with developments since then, and it's not a subject I'm interested in. My current work mostly involves preparing plant lists, initially in my own userspace. - Dank (push to talk) 06:10, 16 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
