Speedy deletion nomination of BrainMap edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on BrainMap, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on BrainMap requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Your article creations edit

Please read WP:NCORP which explains the notability requirements for articles about companies and organizations, and please stop creating that page about BrainMap without providing proof of notability. Also, please read WP:COI which explains Wikipedia's policy regarding Conflict of Interest and please disclose any connection you have with BrainMap. October 2017 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:24, 4 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • In your first version you were using clearly promotional language, but the bigger problem is that there is no indication that BrainMap is of sufficient importance for a Wikipedia article - but you kept creating it every time it was deleted, and the only way to stop you doing that was to impose a block. To be accepted for an article on Wikipedia, BrainMap would need to satisfy the requirements of WP:NCORP and be supported by multiple independent reliable sources which cover it in depth (seeWP:RS). I will be happy to unblock you on one of two conditions - either you provide links to sources that are sufficient to support notability, or you agree not to write about BrainMap. Oh, and please answer my question - do you have any connection with BrainMap? Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 12:23, 4 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your answer. No, I have no connection with BrainMap. I'm a researcher and I think that the BrainMap platform is very useful for researchers around the world. I try to convey verifiable public information of interest to many people in the field of research. Additionally, unlike other platforms (academia.edu, ResearchGate) that are private and are generating profits, BrainMap is a public platform with free access. It is a common good. Please tell me if I can create this page by carefully looking at the words I will use so that the text does not appear as an advertisement. If you think the information is not of public interest and does not concern a large number of users, then I will quit. Again, I do not intend to promote BrainMap, but to provide useful information to many people. Thank you!

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I think it's a misunderstanding. My presence on Wikipedia is not limited to trying to create BrainMap. I also have useful contributions on other pages. So I'm not an advertising-only account. Regarding BrainMap, I did not understand exactly why the information posted is classified as an advertisement. UEFISCDI is a public institution, BrainMap is a public platform, the information about it is public. There is no private interest in that. Maybe the description I used is not appropriate. I have repeatedly attempted to create BrainMap because I did not understand exactly the warning messages - English is not my native language - and I did not know how to respond. Please unlock me and tell me under what conditions I can create the BrainMap page. Thank you! Daniel Buti

Decline reason:

Your message above makes it clear that you are rejecting both of the options which "Boing! said Zebedee" offered you in order to be unblocked, and that are likely to yet again created the article without providing evidence of notability. Unblocking you would therefore be likely to cause more waste of time for editors who would have to clear up your editing. In addition, I have looked at your other editing, and while I agree that it was a mistake to say that your only desire here is to promote BrainMap, it is certainly true that editing on other subjects too has been unambiguously promotional in character, being full of such terms as "has a wealth of international experience", "prestigious", "has a rich publishing and scientific research activity" and so on. If you really honestly can't see why your editing is seen as promotional, then it is very unlikely that you will be able to avoid making the same kinds of mistakes again. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I had this reply ready before JamesBWatson reviewed your unblock request, so I'll post it anyway.

The real problem is that BrainMap does not appear to satisfy Wikipedia's notability requirements as described at WP:NCORP, which apply to all organizations, whether for profit, free, public, or even charities.

Is there any in-depth coverage of BrainMap out there in the mainstream press anywhere which satisfies the requirements at WP:RS? That's the kind of thing you would need, and if you can not find such sources, you would have to agree not to write about BrainMap. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:51, 4 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Ok. Now I understand the problem you are referring to. Now it's clear what kind of language I must avoid completely. As for the decision, I think you did not read carefully. I just said I'm ready to give up posting, including BrainMap, if you think the content is not right. I have tried to explain my intention to create the BrainMap page and not the desire to continue to violate the rules. It is absurd to try to explain why you were wrong, to assume you were wrong, but still someone to consider, superficially, that you must be blocked. So, I ask you to review the decision, given my firm commitment not to post content that violates the rules.

If you really do understand the problems with promotional language (and the later versions of the BrainMap article were actually better in that respect), and you agree to not write about BrainMap (as it really does not appear to be sufficiently notable at this point), then I could see a way to unblocking you if JamesBWatson also agrees. As I said above, I understand the problem and I understand where I'm wrong. You told me that there is a problem with the BrainMap platform and I will not write about it anymore. I thought it was clear from my previous comment. Please try not to misunderstand what I say. I'm a well-intentioned person.

Daniel, what you have now said seems to deal with both the reasons why Boing! said Zebedee blocked you and the reasons why I declined your unblock request, so I have unblocked your account. I hope that from now on you will be able to contribute to the encyclopaedia without any more problems of this kind. Thank you both for your understanding and advice. I will be very careful from now on.

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

This article should not be speedily deleted because ERRIS is an educational platform and its host is an institution of higher education.
