Speedy deletion nomination of Dan-W edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dan-W requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. September 2011 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Dan-W, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Sorry, but... edit

Facebook, Youtube and Twitter are no good here as references. Please see WP:RS about reliable sources. Please also see WP:COI about conflict of interest, which is to do with writing about you and yours. Peridon (talk) 16:16, 12 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dan-W Article and deletion edit

Hi, I wanted to respond to your question on my talk page. I wasn't the person who actually deleted the article, I merely marked it for deletion for the admins to review. As for my reasoning, I would suggest reading over WP:MUSIC. This is a Wikipedia policy that covers what is needed for an article about a musician or a band to be included on Wikipedia. Also, look over WP:RS, as this is where you can find what sources are considered reliable to verify the standards in WP:MUSIC. Finally you have WP:AUTO. In this case, since this is an autobiographical articel, you need to be aware you already have a conflict of interest, and that the article falls under much more scrutiny.

Hope this answers your question. Wildthing61476 (talk) 17:02, 12 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please do not write an article about yourself, as you did at Dan-W. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged - see our guideline Writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedians with articles.) Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:47, 12 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
