Hey, thanks for the note. To warn a user you use a template, all the warning messages are listed at WP:UTTM. I use {{uw-vandalism1}} for the first offense, {{uw-vandalism2}} for the second one that day and so on up to the 5th time, after which you can report them at WP:AIV by following the instructions there. Now if you want to get really high tech, you can check out the tools at Wikipedia:Cleaning up vandalism. Also, I'm always glad to help so drop me another note if you need anything.
