License tagging for Image:Common beak.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Common beak.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

I notice that you are reserving rights to your images, and stating that they can only be used on Wikipedia. Unfortunately, Wikipedia can only accept images if they are released under the GFDL, which permits commercial use, or are released into the public domain. I am therefore deleting the images to protect your copyright. jimfbleak 05:21, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Palm king.jpg edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Palm king.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Palm king.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Palm king.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:53, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Palm king.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Palm king.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:57, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Acraea issoria edit

A tag has been placed on Acraea issoria, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 172.146.207.16 12:41, 21 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Question about image for Nirar Dam near Valparai edit

Hi. I was just looking at your image of Nirar Dam waters near Valparai. You have described it to be taken at the Upper Nirar Dam. I was just trying to view the same in the Google Earth. I think the image is at the Lower Nirar Dam rather than the Upper Nirar Dam. Oosimalai peak is far too close to Upper Nirar dam to be seen like that from there. Also, Upper Nirar Weir is a much smaller dam with a minimal reservoir behind it. Ashinpt (talk) 15:06, 9 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Anshi, my bad. It really is the lower Nirar dam. Thanks so much for pointing it out. -Dhaval.

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
