Hey Theroadislong,

Thanks for double checking but advertising is a matter of perspective in this case. Any of the festivals listed on this page are being advertised to some degree, from the point of view of the festivals anyway. The festival I listed is new and it's in my town so I happen to be aware of. In an effort to make this festival list as comprehensive as possible, I added it to this page. Was the link was too commercial or the event too local or "garage", as the community puts it, to be posted? Please advise.

All the best,

DWilliamsFrey

If you look at the top of the article it says "This is a list of major film festivals, sorted by continent." It is not a list of every local festival. I don't doubt that many many others should be removed too. Theroadislong (talk) 21:34, 19 August 2014 I'm TC)

Theroadislong It's another matter of perspective but I see what you mean. I noticed the "major" component after the fact but figured hey, if all of these are listed, we're in seemingly all-inclusive list territory so what the heck. If others should be removed too, then the most movie/film fest experienced wiki folk around should dive deep into their fave topic to clean things up. This could be you and, as a long time user/first time editor, I have much respect for this community, I just didn't expect the speed in which edits would occur. It's impressive. I have no problem with the fest not being listed if it's not major in the broadest sense, as that's a semantic consideration open to fair debate but I took issue with the commercial claim. Now that I see where you're coming from, I agree with your edit to my edit. PS do I need to add your name in the "User:..." format for you to be notified of replies in this talk session? Not sure of all the functions yet. Thanks.
