Template:Infobox Artist

I wonder if you can help out. The talk page consensus was to change parameter "Famous works" to "Works". I changed this on the template and documentation pages. However, now the parameter doesn't work on pages such as Vincent van Gogh, which still have "Famous works": it does work if "Famous works" is changed in the infobox to "Works". Does this mean every existing use of "Famous works" in the infobox has to be changed to "Works"? If so, presumably this is a bot job - any suggestions for a suitable bot runner to do the job? Thanks. Ty 03:28, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I changed "famous works" twice on the documentation page[1] and three times on the template page.[2] Which of those are parameter name and which are displayed text? Ty 04:04, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
I've put in a bot request on User_talk:Mets501#Template:Infobox_Artist, but I'd still like to find out the info requested above. Thanks. Ty 05:18, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. That's very helpful. Ty 23:16, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Pacific team

Can you go round the race report articles for 1994/95 and make sure the links for the Pacific team direct to the Pacific Racing page not via a redirect. Same goes for McLaren, most of them look like when editing [[Team McLaren|McLaren]] when it should just be purely [[McLaren]]. Thanks, D.M.N. (talk) 14:06, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Could a AWB run do this ? (Does DH have AWB ?) Guroadrunner (talk) 04:48, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
I used to have AWB but a couple of months ago it told me my current version was no longer supported and made me download a newer version which I've never been able to get to install correctly. (And, having installed the new version, I found I couldn't successfully reinstall the old version either). I ended up making the changes manually on the 21st of July. DH85868993 (talk) 06:49, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
While I never understood how to get AWB to make edits, shortly after having AWB I received the same problem that I needed an update, but the program would not do so. I can emphathize. Guroadrunner (talk) 11:20, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Possible typo in Image:Downtown Detroit Street Circuit.svg

Hi Will. Thanks for your great work with motor racing track maps. I noticed what appears to be a typo in Image:Downtown Detroit Street Circuit.svg - I think "Chyrsler" should be "Chrysler". Cheers. DH85868993 (talk) 13:09, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Also, in Image:Estroril.svg (which should be Image:Estoril.svg?), "Aryton Senna" should probably be "Ayrton Senna". DH85868993 (talk) 15:09, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the pointing out the typos. However, I don't know when I will be able to fix them. If you have Inkscape or another SVG editor, feel free to make the corrections yourself. Just make sure you use the version that has the text on paths (see the version history) when needed and let me know when you are done so I can update my local copy. Finally, please remember that the images aren't on Wikipedia, they are at Commons. Will (Talk - contribs) 01:06, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: Unnesting

I think I pulled it out of its place so I could see what category it was. Then I found out that this kind of material is written on nested tables. (Not counting out that it might have been for aesthetics or some other reason). I don't really remember, but I've nested it again. Thanks for calling it to my attention. -- Guroadrunner (talk) 04:45, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

RE: Autódromo Oscar Alfredo Gálvez

Hi DH, yes, the Buenos Aires Circuit has been renamed after the Gálvez brothers. A source says Buenos Aires Legislature issued a law regarding this in early July 2008, just before the Buenos Aires 200km race. Juan and Oscar Gálvez were the best racing drivers in domestic series as Fangio was the best Argentine racing driver all around the world. I have failed to find a reference in English - most of those articles are in Spanish. Regards, Mxcatania (talk) 02:25, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Autódromo Juan y Oscar Gálvez

I noticed that you have moved the article Autódromo Oscar Alfredo Gálvez to Autódromo Juan y Oscar Gálvez based on a blogspot source. Blogspot doesn't qualify as a reliable source, because anyone can write anything on a blog. Do any reliable sources mention the rename? Because the official website of the circuit calls it "Autodromo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, without any reference to Galvez. Aecis·(away) talk 07:40, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Cut and paste move

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Kojima (disambiguation) a different title by copying its content and pasting it into Kojima. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. I do realize that Ciao 90 had already done the copy and paste part, but rather than erasing the duplicated content and redirecting the page, you should have requested a history merge as I have now done. Thanks for your understanding and for your help on the project! Ashanda (talk) 04:55, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

1950 Formula One season

--Pannie196 (talk) 11:19, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Hello, it is a pleasure to be part of such a great project. I intend to create Teams/drivers lists for every season that has not one yet. Should I also include in my 1950-1960 lists the teams and drivers that took part in the Indy 500 - which, of course, counted towards the World Championship, but was run under different regulations? And moreover, should F2 entries that appeared in F1 races in 1957, 1958, 1966, 1967 and 1969 be included?

One more thing, I noticed that the term 'FIA Formula One World Championship' is used for all seasons, I believe the 'FIA' World Championship only begun in 1981.

Regards,

Pannie196

Thank you for your input. Now as far the 'FIA' term is concerned, I believe that since there has already beeen a discussion about it and a generally accpeted term has been agreed upon, it would be better to use the same convention. As you might see, I have ommited the term 'Formula One' from the 1952 list and I intend to do the same for 1953.
Moreover, I see your point about focusing on the teams that contested the majority of the races, however, where you would draw the line? For example, FISA entered Giancarlo Baghetti for only one race and won it. So the entry should not be included? Furthermore, I feel the team and drivers lists should be in accordance with the 'final standings' tables that follow.
Finally, I have not decided which criteria is best to use to order my lists. I have gone for entry numbers for 1950, but for 1951 I opted for race participations; this system seems to 'reward' the most consistent teams. Any ideas?--Pannie196 (talk) 16:45, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

List of Formula One driver records

Hi DH85868993, just a quick one on the List of Formula One driver records page, in particular the race leaders for at least one lap section [3]. I didn't update this table as I wasn't entirely sure that both Raikkonen and Alonso led 1 lap during yesterday's race and therefore did not update the 'This page is accurate up to and including' at the top of the page. This has since been updated but the race leaders for at least one lap section has not been. Are you aware of a reliable source for this information? I don't keep an eye on this page regularly so this table may not have been updated for a while. Regards, Schumi555 (talk) 20:17, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately I don't know of a reliable source for "total races led" - I usually just hope/assume that whoever updates that section of the article gets it right! And to make matters worse, I've been away from home for much of the past month, so I haven't closely checked the updates to the article for the past 4 races. Not much help, I'm afraid! DH85868993 (talk) 20:43, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Okie doke, I thought I hadn't seen your name around as much recently! I seem to remember the commentators saying that Alonso and Raikkonen were leading at some point during the race, but I'm not entirely sure! Shall we just add 1 for both drivers? Schumi555 (talk) 20:49, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I think so - the notes section of 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix indicates that Alonso led laps 39-40 and Raikkonen led laps 41-43, so someone must have sourced that info from somewhere. DH85868993 (talk) 21:00, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh great, I was looking for that yesterday but it must have been added later! Thanks, Schumi555 (talk) 21:14, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Looking at the official lap chart, it appears that Alonso and KR did lead a few laps during the race. D.M.N. (talk) 21:16, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that, I've updated the records now. Regards, Schumi555 (talk) 21:22, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeoman Credit

I see that you're directing links away from Yeoman Credit Racing. I'd suggest that there's no point having the article if we don't link to it. Thoughts? Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:06, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

My initial thought was that in situations where "Yeoman Credit Racing" is referring specifically to one of the two organisations (Reg Parnell Racing or British Racing Partnership), e.g. in race report articles or driver results tables, then we should link to that specific article, and only link to Yeoman Credit Racing when we are referring to the ongoing entity, e.g. in Reg Parnell where it says "In 1961 Reg Parnell inherited the Yeoman Credit Racing sponsorship deal from the British Racing Partnership". However, upon reflection, I think you're right, and that we should link all occurrences of "Yeoman Credit Racing (Team)" to Yeoman Credit Racing, similar to the way we do for Martini Racing. Ironically, before I made my changes, I thought I'd check to see what had been done in other instances, and I found Chris Bristow, where "Yeoman Credit Racing Team" had been linked to British Racing Partnership (without checking, my guess is that the YCR dabpage didn't exist when that link was created). I'll revert my changes (and other instances, like Chris Bristow) some time within the next 24 hours. If you don't want to wait for me to do it and want to make the reversions/changes yourself, that's cool. DH85868993 (talk) 01:43, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
That's what I initially thought too, and that's what I started doing when I was writing non-championship race reports. But when I found the Yeoman Credit article, I thought that we could link there and the reader gets the whole YCR picture straight away. He can easily go off to Reg Parnell or BRP from there, so it seemed logical. I assume that's why the YCR article was written, but I didn't know it existed until fairly recently. I agree that it makes sense, and is consistent with instances like Martini Racing. I'll let you revert your changes since you seem to have a little helper in AWB! Plus you know what you changed and I don't know the full extent of what you were doing, so it'll be quicker if you do it. Cheers :o) Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:48, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

I think it makes sense to collect the "Category:Booish XXX drivers" categories under "Category:Booish racecar drivers" (i.e. as is currently done). You'll also notice that when adding "Category:Motorsport in Boo" to the various categories, I didn't remove any existing categories, e.g. Category:Australian racecar drivers, Category:Australian motorcycle racers and Category:Australian motorboat racers are still in Category:Motorsport in Australia - I just added Category:Australian motorsport people as a "bonus" category. Auto-review

"Autoreviewer" is something of a misnomer, to be honest -- it should be "autoreviewed".

It gives you, the recipient of autoreviewer rights, no new abilities or privileges. Rather, it's for the benefit of people doing newpage patrol (which is to say, mostly me). It means that you've shown that you know what you're doing to the extent that any new pages you create don't need to be reviewed by human eyes to ensure that they're valid... and that you create new pages often enough that it's more efficient to just mark everything you create as reviewed by default. List of World War I aces credited with more than 27 victories

Please do delete it. It was supposed to be done away with long since. I muddled through a faulty revamping of the lists in the process of splitting up a master list that had grown to be second largest in all Wikipedia. and this was part of a failed attempt. There may be some more disconnected lists out there that also need deletion, if you care to hunt for them. If I can recall them, I will refer them to you for deletion.

Thank you for cleaning up after me. I obviously violated "The Kindergarten Rule" of clean up your own messes.
