Media edit

Please do not blindly add media files in articles, they can mess up the article structure. It was not appropriate for Turkey, for example. Rather try to add them under see alsos, references or external links. Thanks.. Baristarim 06:46, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

You must be the blind one. :) (excluding your rough language)for the media files were not added in the article. As you exactly said, it was added under the subgroup of "media" (newly formed) like the other subsections you listed. Media is a recognized subsection and used as such in other articles like references, links etc. You may want to consider stopping your territorial reversals, if you can.

In fact, no.. Turkey article is currently in the process of WP:FAC to become a Featured Article, and if you ever take a look at other FA articles like Canada and Australia, you won't see a "Media" sub-section :) That article's structure was formatted per FA criteria. What rough language? Cheers! Baristarim 06:59, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The use of Media subsection is not inclusive or exclusive of country related articles. It can be part of any article. See John F Kennedy article where there was a preexisting media subsection with a video fragment of inaguration where others can add pertinent media files. Turkey article is no exception and video - music -speech files can be added as needed. DADASHIM 07:04, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Listen, the article's structure was agreed upon in the talk page of the article, please raise such substantial changes in the talk page. A lot of effort was spent trying to clean up Turkey article. I noticed that you added it to JFK and other articles. As a general rule, seperate gallery and media sections are considered unprofessional, you can ask many other Turkish users if you like. You will notice that nearly none of the FA articles include a gallery or media section. Please do not re-add it to Turkey, the article is currently in FAC. If anything, please raise the issue in the talk page. Thanks... Baristarim 07:09, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please be careful about not breaking the three revert rule. Thank you. Baristarim 07:13, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I need a written wikipedia reference indicating presence of media files precluding featured article status (in any article category) and or the use of media files is unprofessional. I am very curious. DADASHIM 07:15, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was wondering why you need to put a piece of information, without linked to any text (content). Is JFK was significant in Turkish History? It may be O.K. to have a media section, however what makes this thing so important that has to be under the Turkey page?--OttomanReference 07:23, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is linked to many things mentioned as scattered in the article. It is difficult to teach insight if one does not have it already. I hope this satisfies your curiosity. DADASHIM 07:27, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

(edit conflict) Well, in any case it is the wikiconcensus :) It is not the media files that are precluding FA status.. First of all, there shouldn't be seperate subsections for pictures nor media. And yes, such seperate sections are considered as unprofessional, if anything they should be inserted into the main of the article in relevant places to expand the written information included in the article. Believe me, I know what I am talking about :)) It will most probably removed from Ataturk article as well some time in the future, but that article is not even GA, so it can stay for a while :) Think of the article as a presentation, that media section cuts down on the fluidity of the article and looks very out of place. However, I added addition to Turkey-US relations, where it would be more relevant. Turkey article is there to give an overview of the country as a whole, not about particular people, nor their messages. JFK etc are not that important for Turkey as a country, that's why I added it to TR-US relations article. Cheers! Baristarim 07:25, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
"DADASHIM:difficult to teach insight if one does not have it already" Resp: You do not have to insult me!!! If I can not see it, it may be (4me is) because you do not have the skills to present it. I guess there is no reason to try to understand your position, as it comes with too much baggage! Have a nice day.OttomanReference 07:34, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Warnings are given before breaking WP:3RR. That's standard procedure. I reverted only twice, have a closer look... By the way, be careful with civility as well.. Thanks.. Baristarim 08:02,

Exactly. Not very civil to warn the contributor when it is you who is just about the revert the third time, not him? Right? OH no, cant be right. (We are out of sync, so lets stop :))

No problems :) Baristarim 08:05, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do not remove image cleanup templates from images without fixing the problem. Please go through every image that you have uploaded and make absolutely sure that a proper source is given for the image, including who owns the copyright to the image. Thanks. Jkelly 18:11, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The above is a disruptive action against a proper image with proper categorization for fair use under US law for educational purposes in wikipedia. Please refrain from such invasive & baseless interference in the future.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:CemalGursel.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:CemalGursel.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:37, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:WithShahofIran.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:WithShahofIran.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:49, 26 July 2007 (UTC). Disputed fair use rationale for Image:TurkishStateCemeteryLogo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:TurkishStateCemeteryLogo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. Image source problem with Image:The Left Eye of Horus over Bosphorus.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:The Left Eye of Horus over Bosphorus.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unspecified source for Image:ChattingwithMehmetcik.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:ChattingwithMehmetcik.jpg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:33, 7 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 14:33, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:AddressingNation.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:AddressingNation.jpg.

Thank you. RoninBK T C 14:21, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why did you add fair-use rationales and such on images that are in the public domain? You don't need to do that. ViperSnake151 14:03, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:PresidentCevdetSunay.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:PresidentCevdetSunay.jpg.

Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:09, 11 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 17:09, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Elizabeth II edit

Hi. First of all, please don't refer to my edits as 'vandalism'; it's not WP:CIVIL. Second, a citation is needed for "...and toured India, Iran, Pakistan, and Nepal for the first time." Providing an external link to a video is not the same as providing a citation. Third, I removed the video because the quality is poor and there is no guarantee that the site is stable. I will be removing the video again, as well as restoring the {{cn}} tag. Prince of Canada t | c 15:00, 12 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. The video quality is poor, and there is no guarantee that the site is stable.
Please also consider this a warning for your breach of civility. Referring to other editors as "anti-east ultranationalists" is insulting and rude. Continued uncivil behaviour will result in you being blocked. roux ] [x] 18:05, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cemal Gürsel edit

As above, do not refer to my edits as "vandalism." That is uncivil. If you want to include something like that, provide a source. I might just start cleaning out all the unsourced statements. Sources are needed per WP:V and WP:BURDEN. Last, what do you mean by "I am familiar with some negative stubborn obsessive interferences by you in the past in the same article which I see that you decided to come back with further vandalism"? -- Ricky81682 (talk) 21:12, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

NowCommons: File:JFKennedy1963 text.pdf edit

File:JFKennedy1963 text.pdf is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:JFKennedy on Ataturk 1963.pdf. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:JFKennedy on Ataturk 1963.pdf]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 16:14, 25 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
