Welcome...

Hello, D.moorex47, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Your additions to Distance education appeared primarily to promote a particular school, so they were reverted consistent with WP:SOAP. Please consider whether your contributions would fit better in some other article or could be trimmed to make more them appropriate for the general article on Distance education.

Again, welcome! Orlady (talk) 21:36, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm curious to hear your explaination as to why the "promotional" retoric for PA Cyber is allowed, and my addition, while similar in nature, was removed? D.moorex47 (talk) 00:55, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Probably just didn't spot it. Out of necessity people approach pages from different angles and, for example, if the editor was attracted to the page because of seeing your entry on a "recent additions" list then it is quite likely that they'll only consider that bit which was added. Such additions, especially from first-time users, are sometimes, regrettably, "vandalism" and need to be dealt with quickly where possible. In your case, it was a clear breach of WP:SOAP. I agree with Orlady and also with you and so have cropped the Cyber blurb. Hope this satisfies you ... and welcome to Wikipedia. You've perhaps had a bad first experience but it is a nice place to be - and Orlady has been extremely helpful to me recently :) Sitush (talk) 01:27, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks to Sitush for the above reply -- and for removing the item that bothered D.moorex. As I noted on my own talk page, the article Distance education is a mess, but that does not obligate Wikipedia to ignore new inappropriate additions that exacerbate the problems. --Orlady (talk) 18:24, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
