FGM edit

I noticed your request at Talk:Female genital mutilation#Semi-protected edit request on 28 November 2014. I agree with the editor who has already commented that the text is not appropriate for Wikipedia. The first problem is that the material is obviously copied from somewhere (a website?) and using it would very likely be a copyright violation. The second problem is more fundamental: articles must be encyclopedic in tone and neutral in approach. Text like "It contravenes a girl’s right to a whole body" might be correct, but it cannot be used at Wikipedia because it is essentially a slogan rather than a verifiable statement of fact. Sorry to be so blunt, but it is better to tell you directly. Have a look at some articles and see how they are written. For example, the FGM article itself has no text similar to the Orchid Project material. Tostan is one of several other articles linked in the "Female genital mutilation" box at the bottom of the FGM article, and it also shows a typical style used here. Are there sources (newspaper articles, descriptions in books or elsewhere) that have written about the Orchid Project? If so, that would help us to write something. If you have any questions, you might like to reply here. Johnuniq (talk) 10:35, 28 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
