You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 03:27, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Hey...thanks. How does it work? All I can see is the accept option, and the grayed out unaccept. How about a simple accept and decline? Also, is it currently set so that one reviewer is enough to approve?
This is a great idea for Wikipedia; I'll be happy to help test this as I'll be around updating the episode logs for The Colbert Report, which appear to have fallen by the wayside lately, and I'll regularly visit the page to see what's there during the test. =) CycloneGU (talk) 03:39, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Fear Not!

My Dear Cyclone: I have carefully read the Transport page which you edited and kindly provided me with a link to. I most definitely feel that your edit is not inappropriate and that it provides a good example without violating any editorial or ethical guidelines. In anticipation of future encounters with you, I remain, Sir, your excellency's humblest, most obedient servant. Writtenright (talk) 03:20, 23 June 2010 (UTC)writtenright

You beat me by 20 seconds on the Sidney Crosby edit, which was also the correct call. Touché! Writtenright (talk) 03:08, 24 June 2010 (UTC)writtenright
Heehee...I know it's sometimes a race between reviewers. I saw that it was "under review" for a while, so I checked in suspecting a connection error or something; normally, I try to avoid those already being handled after this embarrassing edit conflict. =) CycloneGU (talk) 03:11, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Most Energetic Cyclone: It has just occurred to me that I was breaching wikimanners by clicking on "your" articles which were flagged by the yellow highlighting. Please forgive me; I had just been appointed to the lofty position of Reviewer and was not yet familiar with the rules of etiquette pertaining thereto. Chalk it down to an honest rookie's mistake. All the best, Writtenright (talk) 18:17, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Writtenright
Hey...I still do it as well, and sometimes I am first to finish it, so it's all good...=)
I honestly do ignore anything already marked under review, but sometimes, one reviewer could be bringing up five links at once and thus it takes longer than necessary for each one to be finished. I try to do one at a time, and while I do that, any others get picked up. =) CycloneGU (talk) 18:37, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Rollback

If I granted you rollback, would you promise not to blow up the wiki? Chzz told me to ask. :) Sincerely, Blurpeace 07:39, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Seems like a good idea to me!  Chzz  ►  07:47, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, Chzz brought it up in the chat room late last nite (or early this morning, take your pick). And yeah...I wouldn't blow up the Wiki - only certain spammy parts now and then, like perhaps that thing on the Julia Gillard page that wasn't allowing proper edits with 7 unaffirmed changes; wished I could just roll back to the last accepted version. =) That was a mess that needed dynamite; not sure how Mkativerata got that edit through at 06:12 since several attempts by me all failed. =)
I'll read up a bit more on the rollback feature...and whether the example given also qualifies as a valid use. =) CycloneGU (talk) 11:58, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
I've given you the flag. You may wish to review this page. If you're interested in testing your new tool, I suggest this page. Have fun, and thanks for volunteering. Sincerely, Blurpeace 18:17, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Poke

Just saw your response to my pointing out the Requests for de-Godkingship on jimbo's page. I have to say, our pranks were better back in the day, but that may just be my 'get off my lawn!' coming out. You may want to take a look at User:Jaranda/Wikipedia's_first_IRC_chat, quite possibly the funniest piece of writing on the wiki, that happened the year after. The Requests for Wheelation from that year is great too, but with every year less and less people remember Willy. It's hard to say we ever quite liked a vandal, but there are many who have a soft spot for the guy. He never got mean, it was kinda a joke for him, one that went on for years and got features in the New York Times. Almost an informal mascot. There's a lot of references to our most famous vandal in the early April Fools jokes. -- ۩ Mask 00:28, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Haha...I actually have plans already for who I will nominate for Jimboship. It's going to be a long eight months. =O

Orphaned non-free image File:Dlink.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Dlink.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. — ξxplicit 00:53, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Approval on pending changes

Hi, CycloneGU. Just wanted you to know. The history at L. Ron Hubbard shows you accepted this pending edit. Note that the edit adds misinformation as well as appears to alter a direct quote. I appreciate trying to keep the pending changes list up-to-date, but I think approval -- especially on controversial topics -- is best delayed until an editor familiar with the topic reviews it. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 15:52, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps I misread the pending edit, then. From my understanding of the edit, it looked like he was simply rewording much of the text into a different way of saying it. I did not notice any alterations and thought the edit looked all right as is. My apologies if I am mistaken. =) CycloneGU (talk) 15:54, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
I understand. No problem. These controversial topics are on many watchlists and are double-checked fairly quickly. CactusWriter (talk) 16:09, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

I was wondering what still needs to be addressed on this FLC. Other then a cosmetic comment about the key, your suggestions and comments have all been addressed. Thanks. NThomas (talk)

Actually, I wasn't the reviewer and am not an expert on that subject. I just helped fix some year errors that you had inadvertantly left in. Best of luck with the FLC tho. =) CycloneGU (talk) 00:25, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Prelude to a Dream edit reversion

Regarding your reverting of my edit: What about the users who do not wish to install Itunes? It my understanding that internet citations that require special software or require payments or registration to access the information being used as a reference are not valid.1archie99 (talk) 12:50, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

My understanding of iTunes is that it brings up the album in the browser even if you don't have it within iTunes itself, it just attempts to also load the program as well. This one also failed for me most recently after working the first time, and the browser thus didn't load it because the Canadian store didn't show it for some strange reason.
I don't think referencing iTunes is wrong; I've done it in other cases as well, such as when referencing a bonus track on an album that can only be found that way. CycloneGU (talk) 13:26, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
I do not follow your reasoning at all. I cannot get any info at all from this citation. For me you might as well be deliberately referencing a dead link. In this case the info can be found on Amazon; that site gives a release date of November 15, 2009. In any case I feel that any reference requiring special software to access should be noted as such within the citation.1archie99 (talk) 13:46, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
I think they are identical, so if you wish to change it to that, go for it. iTunes one did work for me before, but now even within iTunes it tells me I have to switch stores (which I can do in theory, as can anyone, but in practicality, not really a good idea). The only people who can't see that link are those without iTunes, but there is no special bonus track or anything, so use whatever works. =) CycloneGU (talk) 14:59, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Done. After hearing about your experience I will definitely stick with Amazon and cdbaby for my downloads. It would be nice to see one of these terrific young singers go first place. I hope that she, the sisters duo, and the young classical pianist all place high.1archie99 (talk) 22:26, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't think the pianist will finish very high. I do think he may have a shot at the finals, but I think the second semi-final is stacked with excellent acts whereas the first not as many. My early pick was Fighting Gravity as that is just an awesome idea I'd never seen before, from my memory, and that could be a Vegas show on its own. Evancho should be in the top, but I'm not sure a ten year old singer is a full-on Vegas show; this was tried from the first season, and what has Bianca Ryan been up to since? Anna & Patryk and Prince Poppycock both were wonderful and are already finalists; I predict Poppycock will be top 5, and based on the act this week, he has a shot at winning; Christina and Ali, Taylor Matthews, and Michael Grimm don't have a chance against Evancho unless she REALLY gets froggy. Haspop should make it to the finals as a good and unique act compared to the many singers, musicians, and magicians; Alice Tan Ridley was good in her quarterfinals, too. Other than that, not sure. This Tuesday will be a good show. =) CycloneGU (talk) 02:36, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

The Bill

Hey!

Thought I would let you know that The Bill was refused protection. I know they don't pre-emptively protect pages etc but I'm guessing that this means that the "pending changes" feature is no longer in use (well at least until the discussion on the feature is over). Shame, well I guess it's back to good old-fashioned editing when the final episode airs on Tuesday! Thanks again :) --5 albert square (talk) 11:21, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I happened to be watching the page, so I already knew in this case. Nothing was said about PC, but I wondered if even that was considered pre-emptive...but that could have been done perhaps, and wasn't considered, so looks like I had it right. Once we know if PC continues, you might be able to request it for other pages tho., so keep an ear out for word on that. =) CycloneGU (talk) 14:38, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

The Kenny Rogers Story

How on earth did you not realize that the Lyrics Freak bio is a Wikipedia mirror?! Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 02:29, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

I'm not familiar with Wikipedia mirrors. LMAO I'll find another source, then; working on the Short Stories one ATM. What else is prodded? CycloneGU (talk) 02:30, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
As for Short Stories, see here. My issue is that AllMusic lists the wrong track order, as I have seen the record itself and it lists a different order. I actually gleaned the missing songwriters from that record cover as well as AllMusic fails to list them. CycloneGU (talk) 02:33, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

These are the other ones I prodded:

I can't see any way in which any of these albums meet WP:GNG as I've found nothing on them outside Allmusic (and sometimes not even that!) and none of the albums in question made the charts. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 15:25, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Some of those are indeed budget-line albums and probably don't need to be listed on pages, but Love Songs...I thought this one did something, I'm not sure (whoops, wrong album in mind, this one is budget-line). I didn't find any of these on my scan last nite, so I'll take a look at them over the next day or two as I am going to likely be busy this afternoon/evening. Nomination of Love Songs (Kenny Rogers album) for deletion

While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Love Songs (Kenny Rogers album) until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 17:40, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Taylor Swift discography

Just as you have your reasons, I have mine. Released by another artist or not, the single still composes part of Swift's single discography and chronology. Separating them disturbs the chronology. Articles for singles with featured artists don't have a Chronology that says "Artist Name featured chronology". It just says "Artist Name chronology" and continues on. Also, if Swift were to change record labels, would this cause for two different sections: "Big Machine Records singles" and "New Record Label singles"? No. That would be highly impractical. Please leave both of them in one table as it was when the page was first acknowledged as an FL. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 02:19, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to butt in here, but I believe the FL promotion was a huge mistake. Many peaks on the page were unsourced. Please see the talk page section. Thanks. Yves (talk) 02:28, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I have been discussing this with Yves as well. There are still problems with the page. I will take a look at the page myself as I don't usually have many big projects going on at one time, and I did help get Glee (season 1) to FL status, so I'm willing to take another crack in order to prove this one worthwhile. If information cannot be found, however, I will agree with a request to delist it. CycloneGU (talk) 03:05, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
In regards to changing labels causing for multiple charts...see Johnny Cash. Other artists have this, too. CycloneGU (talk) 03:08, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
