You have an excellent writing style. Your summary is eloquent and engaging, and will serve well with the final product. I assume you will add more sections eventually, perhaps on the engineering behind MaNGA, or future goals for the program. I'd be sure to reference some of the research already performed with MaNGA, at least the most important. That will serve as a useful secondary source. Malthorp (talk) 17:55, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

This is a very nice and concise paragraph about MaNGA. I would recommend that you should add some history about MaNGA, because based on your paragraph, it sounds like the survey hasn't started yet. I would also try to go into more detail about some of the words you are using and how they relate to MaNGA. For example, words like "two-dimensional array of optical fibers bundled together into a hexagonal shape" and "spatially resolved spectroscopy". I'm not sure how detailed you should be, but it would help the reader understand some of the science terms. Drenniks (talk) 18:00, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

It would be good to put in some more links to existing pages on Wikipedia like Apache Point Observatory, fiber optics, etc so that people that want to know more can go there Pzaula (talk) 18:04, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello!

I like the lead that you have so far, it is concise and a good summary of MaNGA. Some suggestions are listed below:

- Link to the APO website, like you did for spectroscopy

- Consider adding a second paragraph where you describe the technical parameters of MaNGA (i.e. What wavelengths is is observing at? How long will it run for? Where can people access the data is it open source? What is the exposure time?)

- Who is overseeing MaNGA? Mention the names and link to their wiki page or department page

- Include more sources, I think we need 5

Overall, you are off to a great start! Tovarg (talk) 18:07, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Looks great so far! Defining terms as you use them would help laypeople understand what MaNGA actually does. It would also help to include an image or diagram of the hexagonal detector and fiber-optics layout so people can visualize the mapping region. A section on optical fiber observation would also probably be a good idea. Also include more about the overall goals and desired results of the survey. Great start! I like the sentence structure for your paragraph! I would try googling SDSS for stuff: theres some cool videos you could link to for use in your article! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFDSMno-xnviyexzoOZBrYg for instance. Look forward to the finished product! Klar2d2 (talk) 18:09, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

I love your writing style! Maybe include some visual components, so that the reader can picture MaNGA. Perhaps you might add separate sections too, including design aspects? (Lockepatton (talk) 18:13, 12 April 2017 (UTC))Reply
