 Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Curiouscat17. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Tharman Shanmugaratnam, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. OOOTenx (talk) 03:22, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tenx, i feel far from welcomed. Spent a lot of my time heavily citing credible news sources, only to have my work undone by your team, and accused of being the journalist who wrote it. The individuals who reverted the write-up back to the previous versions did it haphazardly. Look at the citation for Tharman's religion- it's a World Bank link! I've added so much more information about him but it's met with blocking. What's wrong with citing his official biography? Is it not a credible source? Curiouscat17 (talk) 13:55, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please for God's sake read through the edits before you blindly restore it back, or trying to preach to me about the above. And the citations... This is an open source and i'm just trying to do my part to substantiate parts and remove irrelevant part like the college he allegedly went to in Cambridge. Where's the citation for that, or any mention from official sources? Curiouscat17 (talk) 14:04, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Constructive contributions are appreciated and strongly encouraged, but your recent edit to the userpage of another user may be considered vandalism. In general, it is considered polite to avoid substantially editing others' user pages without their permission. Instead, please bring the matter to their talk page and let them edit their user page themselves if they agree on a need to do so. Please refer to Wikipedia:User page for more information on user page etiquette. Thank you. ~ JASWE (talk) 09:48, 23 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I just want to categorically state by how shocked I am to have my hours of work instantly reverted to its original and non-factual version by OOOTenx without due consideration. I don't agree I was vandalising by my generous contribution of words by describing his love for politics - and I merely suggested he should read. Thank you for jumping in and for seeing to this though. I just hope you can consider a new user's POV as much as I'd accept your feedback. Curiouscat17 (talk) 10:17, 24 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
