Aliyan waliullah edit

Hello fellow Oregonian. I was trying to delete that page and merge it into Adhan. Do you think that's a bad idea? or did I use the tag wrong? Cuñado   - Talk 01:38, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Howdy! In the future, just take the content you think belongs in the target, merge it into the appropriate article, then use the db functionality to request a speedy delete. If it's less of a slamdunk and needs a lot of effort to do the merge, tag the articles using the mergeto and mergefrom templates. Regards, CHAIRBOY () 04:47, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your input will be missed edit

No, you did not upset everybody. It is just a little tense right now and we are all overly sensitive. Your reference to bcatt for reserach was accurate and acceptable. I think that it opened to a South Park page just caught a few poeple off guard and they did not look further to determine merit. I hope you don't stay completely away from the article; at least check in every now and then.

btw, if you can explain the archive process to me I would appreciate it. I tried to follow the directions and became totally lost. Obviously, this old bird is not as adept technologically as one should be. Best of luck and hope to see you around. Storm Rider 18:06, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

New article edit

I've just created an article, Bahá'í literature, that could probably use your input. It's based on the big bibliography I've been keeping on my talk page and thought deserved an article of it's own. It should dovetail into the other individual articles well. MARussellPESE 19:42, 15 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Deletion policy edit

The {{delete}} tag is only used for cases that merit 'speedy' deletion, such as attack pages. For everything else, we use {{afd}}. Have a look at Template:AfD in 3 steps for instructions on how to use it. - ulayiti (talk) 23:28, 16 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, next time you want to nominate an article for AFD, please follow the process outlined at Template:AfD in 3 steps. I've completed the Afnan nomination for you. - ulayiti (talk) 16:05, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Joseph Smith page edit

I'm sorry to see you go from the discussion - although I understand your frustration. If you feel up to it, I welcome your input on some of the issues there. Trödel•talk 02:41, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree - that is why I have given up for a while - I was hoping that some good suggestions would come of it - but alas no. I'll let you know if anything comes up Trödel•talk 04:11, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image edit

I've e-mailed the website owner to see if he will release it under the GFDL. I'll write back once he respeonds. -- Jeff3000 19:07, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

He e-mailed me back and said "I scanned the picture without permission from p. 295 _A Basic Baha'i Chronology_ by Glenn Cameron.", so given that there is already a Ruhiyyeh Khanum picture in Wikipedia, this image won't qualify as fair use. -- Jeff3000 00:35, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Original Year of Publication edit

origdate, origyear and origmonth have been added to the "cite book" template, see Template talk:Cite book -- Jeff3000 17:24, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mansion of Bahji edit

I don't think this should be redirected. -- Jeff3000 17:35, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Regardless of the redirect issues, Bahji is a location and that redirects to Mansion of Bahji, and because of that, the page should remain by itself. If Bahji is made it's own page regarding where it's located, etc, then I think we can redirect Mansion of Bahji to the Baha'i World Centre buildings page. The problem there is not much about the location Bahji, I've checked, and thus leaving the content as is is the way to go. -- Jeff3000

Template on Bahá'í pilgrimage edit

Hey Cunado19,

Can you take a look at Bahá'í pilgrimage and see the last two edits. I've tried to place the Bahá'í template, but I don't like both tries. The first one has the template at the top (which it should be), but then the two images have to be on the left (which I'm not a big fan of), and the bottom section looks empty. The second option places the template near the bottom, but then it's not visible when you open the page. I'm going to try to do some more editing, so look through the options, and change to the one you think is the best. -- Jeff3000 14:30, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

New template edit

The new template is a really good idea, and I like the way it looks. What do you mean by columns and rows? How did you intend it to look? Also, is there a particular reason why you switched the Shoghi Effendi one from vertical to horizontal? -- Jeff3000 19:19, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I understand what you mean. I'll take a stab at it. Regards to horizontal vs vertical template. I think the longer pages should have the vertical one, unless it conflicts with the images to add a lot of whitespace. I don't think it happens with the Shoghi Effendi page, but does so with the pilgrimage page, because there is just so many images. -- Jeff3000 19:33, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
What do you think of it now? -- Jeff3000 20:12, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Summons of the Lord of Hosts edit

Can you take a look at the Summons page, and specifically the Súriy-i-Haykal section. I've gone through Taherzadeh's Revelation of Baha'u'llah and read the appropriate sections, and written up the article, but the Súriy-i-Haykal is very symbolic, and even after reading Taherzadeh's explanation, I'm not fully sure I've written down the idea correctly. Can you just double-check my work. Thanks -- Jeff3000 04:53, 24 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Martha Root picture edit

Done. There is however another picture we can use [1] that can use the same licensing as Image:SeatofUHJ.jpg (we can even crop it to just have Martha Root's picture as stated in the Baha'i licence). Which one do you prefer? -- Jeff3000 20:05, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:Bahaistar.jpg edit

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bahaistar.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SteinbDJ 18:54, 1 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:Bahaistar.jpg edit

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I'll make a new version of that file, so just in case it get's deleted, we'll have a nice version. -- Jeff3000 04:03, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's done, a new version which I made and uploaded as GFDL has replaced the old version. It's different, but tries to maintain the original idea. -- Jeff3000 05:05, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Revertions edit

You reverted my changes in Divisions in Islam then you are redirecting my Islamistan page. Instead of starting a revertion war or getting personal let us discuss it and decalre truce for few days. You keep you changes to Divisions of Islam and don't redirect Islamistan page. I will aslo not make any changes in Divisions in Islam page. I hope to see your response. Thankyou for your cooperation.

Please read the above message and I hope we agree to a mutually acceptable solution.

I'm sorry, but we're not in negotiations. I redirected the page because it's not necessary. If you feel strongly about it, you're welcome to ask for RFC, admin help, or whatever. In the past week you've demonstrated some extremely biased editing, deleting information you don't personally agree with, deleting negative comments on your talk page, and many others. You're not in a spot to ask for a compromise. Cuñado   - Talk 19:36, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
You have redirected that page. I have accepted your decision and have not reverted your changes. End of discusion. If you have any new objections then please contact Wikipedia committe for arbitration. It is my user page and I think I have final say what remains in that page after a discussion has completed. So please concentrate on your work rather than working on my case.

help edit

Pardon my kibbitzing here, but I saw your post on Jeff3000's talk page.

Whenever Christian apologists make this kind of assertion, they really demonstrate how little they know of our teachings. God is indeed unapprochable — by us. (A fair amount of Gleanings discuss this.) But He is certainly capable of knowing us. We can only know Him by what He shows us (Does the painting understand the painter?) — and He's anxious for us to know him. (Good chunks of Gleanings discuss this too.)

O My servants! My holy, My divinely ordained Revelation may be likened unto an ocean in whose depths are concealed innumerable pearls of great price, of surpassing luster. ... O My servants! The one true God is My witness! This most great, this fathomless and surging Ocean is near, astonishingly near, unto you. Behold it is closer to you than your life-vein! Swift as the twinkling of an eye ye can, if ye but wish it, reach and partake of this imperishable favor, this God-given grace, this incorruptible gift, this most potent and unspeakably glorious bounty.
(Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 326)

The entire Arabic Hidden Words revolves around God's love for us. (The Persian seem to revolve around His expectations of us, but what loving parent doesn't want the best for their children?) These stand out:

3. O SON OF MAN!
Veiled in My immemorial being and in the ancient eternity of My essence, I knew My love for thee; therefore I created thee, have engraved on thee Mine image and revealed to thee My beauty.
4. O SON OF MAN!
I loved thy creation, hence I created thee. Wherefore, do thou love Me, that I may name thy name and fill thy soul with the spirit of life.
5. O SON OF BEING!
Love Me, that I may love thee. If thou lovest Me not, My love can in no wise reach thee. Know this, O servant.
6. O SON OF BEING!
Thy Paradise is My love; thy heavenly home, reunion with Me. Enter therein and tarry not. This is that which hath been destined for thee in Our kingdom above and Our exalted dominion.
12. O SON OF BEING!
With the hands of power I made thee and with the fingers of strength I created thee; and within thee have I placed the essence of My light. Be thou content with it and seek naught else, for My work is perfect and My command is binding. Question it not, nor have a doubt thereof.
14. O SON OF MAN!
Thou art My dominion and My dominion perisheth not; wherefore fearest thou thy perishing? Thou art My light and My light shall never be extinguished; why dost thou dread extinction? Thou art My glory and My glory fadeth not; thou art My robe and My robe shall never be outworn. Abide then in thy love for Me, that thou mayest find Me in the realm of glory.
(Baha'u'llah, The Arabic Hidden Words)

We can certainly appreciate the idea of our sinful nature and remoteness from God.

O Lord of all being and Possessor of all things visible and invisible! Thou dost perceive my tears and the sighs I utter, and hearest my groaning, and my wailing, and the lamentation of my heart. By Thy might! My trespasses have kept me back from drawing nigh unto Thee; and my sins have held me far from the court of Thy holiness. Thy love, O my Lord, hath enriched me, and separation from Thee hath destroyed me, and remoteness from Thee hath consumed me. I entreat Thee by Thy footsteps in this wilderness, and by the words "Here am I. Here am I" which Thy chosen Ones have uttered in this immensity, and by the breaths of Thy Revelation, and the gentle winds of the Dawn of Thy Manifestation, to ordain that I may gaze on Thy beauty and observe whatsoever is in Thy Book.
(Baha'u'llah, The Kitab-i-Aqdas, p. 96)

What differentiates us from some Christians is that we think that He loves all of us - sinners and saints,

Look not upon the creatures of God except with the eye of kindliness and of mercy, for Our loving providence hath pervaded all created things, and Our grace encompassed the earth and the heavens.
(Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 32)

and that we are all dependent upon His Grace and Mercy.

Clothe them, O my God, with the robe of Thy favor and the raiment of Thy loving providence, which Thou hast reserved for Thine own Self and woven with the hands of Thy manifold bounties and gifts. Give them, then, to drink, from the hands of Thy loving-kindness, of the cups of Thy measureless mercy. Cause them, moreover, O my Best-Beloved, to abide within the precincts of Thy court and around Thy most effulgent Tabernacle. Powerful art Thou to do what pleaseth Thee.
(Baha'u'llah, Prayers and Meditations by Baha'u'llah, p. 165)

And that's only a quick sampling of just Baha'u'llah.

In Christian vernacular I understand that we are saved from sin ultimately only by the Grace of God. We realize this through an intimate faith in Him and works performed for His sake. This is alien to some Protestants, for whom faith ranks works, but not Catholics, for whom one actualizes one's faith through works. Or: "Salvation by Grace through faith and works, emphasizing that both are required."

Here's Ocean's site.

Image copyright problem with Image:Tenyearcrusade.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tenyearcrusade.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

Senile Remey edit

No doubt CMR was suffering from dementia, probably for quite some time. And his falling-out with Marangella was intensely bitter; but, you'll need to quote a source for Marangella referring to him as "senile". Your source doesn't do so. It says "irrational". Book of Fatima edit

I agree that the sentence re Sunni not accepting the book sorta "hangs" forlornly at the bottom, but the answer is to reword the para, not delete the information. Readers should know that the Sunni don't accept this tradtion. I'd say that academic scholars don't accept it either, except that it's too obscure for anyone to even bother to refute. Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to [[:]], you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please stop changing the Persian king's titles to Arabic. They were Persian kings of Persia, the correct translations should be in Persian not Arabic. Thanks. Kash 01:00, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

The "vandalism" was my putting the standard transliteration in, which is common to Arabic and Perian. Kash's personal preference was a different version, boosted by an Iranian nationalism that tries to separate from Arabic. Cuñado   - Talk
