re :Edits in pages of cricket Umpires edit

Hi. There's no need to add the words "ODIS" or "T20IS" to the infobox, as it's already stated before the numbers. Your edit here was also reverted by another user for the same reason. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 12:08, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

If you think something needs changing to the way these are displayed, please raise a discussion with the Cricket Project here. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 12:10, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • If we add those words will it be wrong??? If we keep them it looks a bit better just from the visibility point of view... So can we consider keeping them? I actually need some guidance on these as I'm new to wiki... Can you plz help me out? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cricket246 (talkcontribs) 13:18, 6 January 2016‎ (UTC)Reply
  • I also made these edits of adding the terms Tests , ODIs and so on in the pages of all the Elite panel umpires like Richard Kettleborough, Kumar Dharmasena and others but those were not reverted... So will it stay there?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cricket246 (talkcontribs) 13:25, 6 January 2016‎ (UTC)Reply
Please sign all your talk page messages with four tildes (~~~~). Thanks.
Your first was reverted yesterday: [1]. Perhaps the others weren't noticed. I have noticed now, and reverted all of them. - DVdm (talk) 12:34, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Thanks... I won't be editing that in any other page... Thanks for the guidance... As I'm new to wiki I needed the guidance from veterans on what to do and what not to... Thanks... And can u plz check the edits made by me in the domestic team information of Marais Erasmus whether I have done it correctly or not?? Thanks... Cricket246 (talk) 12:40, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, they were ok, but I have removed the remaining units, and I also replaced the ampersand (&) with a comma (,): [2]. - DVdm (talk) 12:45, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Should I remove those First Class : 1988/89–1996/97 from beside the team name as they were not present before and were added by me?? And moreover only Boland was mentioned in team information but I later added Impalas and Boland B... All are verified info... Do I need to remove them??? Cricket246 (talk) 12:52, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
These were ok. I only reverted the not-ok-part of your series of edits. Feel free to make further corrections that I, being 100% ignorant of the subject, might have overlooked.

Also, please have a look at indentation at wp:Talk page formatting. Cheers. - DVdm (talk) 12:55, 6 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

January 2016 edit

Greetings. At least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to Bigg Boss 9, did not appear to be constructive and has been or will be reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Are you aware of WP:RUMOUR. It's too soon to update the final result as it's not yet officially announced. GSS (talk) 15:54, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • OK I will be keeping this in mind... Sorry for the inconvenience caused... Thanks... Cricket246 (talk) 15:56, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have also reverted your edit from Prince Narula where you did the same thing. As explained earlier as per WP:RUMOUR please do not add any information without an official announcement as Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation also Wikipedia does not predict the future. GSS (talk) 16:07, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • OK... Surely won't repeat it again... Thanks for the guidance... Cricket246 (talk) 16:35, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
And the same with cricket umpire stats. For example, the recent updates on Nigel Llong. He hasn't yet stood in 99 matches. To add this before the match starts is adding false info. The toss might not happen, match delayed, he might go sick and not stand in the match, etc. Please do not update things like this before they've happened. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 20:42, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • OK... Now I got it... That means I have to wait for making the edit till the toss takes place and till the match begins... Thanks for the guidance... Will surely keep this in mind... Cheers... Cricket246 (talk) 22:06, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Somehow I forgot the disambiguation issue then by not adding the word umpire within brackets before the name Joel Wilson... Apologies for that... Will surely not repeat this next time... Umpire Vandalism edit

Hi Cricket246. I watchlist a lot of umpire articles as they are a frequent target of vandalism and addition of WP:undue information from upset fans. I just noticed your edit here to Rod Tucker. I went through a similar issue with Sundaram Ravi, probably for the same reasons. Just wanted to let you know that if you want an article protected the best place to go is WP:AIV and ask an admin there. This is an example of one I filled out for Ravi. It can take a while for someone to respond, but they will eventually and are pretty good at protecting WP:BLPs. Keep up the good work. AIRcorn (talk) 19:40, 11 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks a lot mate for the appreciation... Actually I just find these vandal edits by upset fans totally unacceptable... What pains me a lot is to see that they are abusing all the umpires who are doing a thankless job in good faith all the time... The umpires are just performing their duties with responsibility but these upset fans have started abusing them in their Wikipedia pages... Such acts of adding undue information in Wikipedia pages is just not acceptable... Moreover, none of the fans, however upset they may be, has the right to spoil these wiki pages which are growing day by day with the constructive information and useful edits by so many users like us... We shouldn't allow anybody to spoil the hard work and efforts we put in for improving these pages for the betterment of Wikipedia... Cricket246 (talk) 01:08, 12 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Few people care about the umpires and as I am an umpiring enthusiast, I felt its my duty to protect these wiki pages from vandalism and ask for help from all other nice guys like you so that we can keep up the pride of these hardworking umpires who are seldom cared about by people... And also we will be able to protect Wikipedia from such Vandalism by eliminating all these undue edits made by upset fans on various occasions... Thanks a lot for supporting me in this mate... Actually I'm relatively new to Wikipedia so I don't really know about all these features and the procedures to be followed to make these requests for page protection... So it would be great if I got some more help from you in this regard... Thanks a lot... And let us continue working as a team and let's keep improving Wikipedia... Cheers... Cricket246 (talk) 01:08, 12 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Cricket246: @Aircorn: - great work on keeping the umpire pages updated and clear of vandalism. Stumbled upon Ravi's page yesterday to see the padlock icon - couldn't believe the vandalism that one biography got in 24hrs! Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 11:11, 12 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • @Lugnuts: Thanks for acknowledging and appreciating mate... Always happy and humbled to contribute and help... I was trying to update Tucker's umpiring information relating to the T20Is and that is when I stumbled upon the extremes of vandalism his page had got... Some upset fans deleted all the playing and umpiring info and just wrote all kinds of non sense and derogatory terms in their language... In Tucker's biography the infobox wasn't spared as well... The upset fans filled the infobox with all derogatory terms... Myself and few other users then somehow managed to clear all those trash yesterday... I was so surprised that a person can be abused so much in a public platform in a mere span of a day when he actually performed his duty meticulously! This is a big problem in keeping Wikipedia clean as the umpire's pages are often vandalized by upset fans... But at the same time we hope that all of us working as a team will surely succeed in protecting and improving Wikipedia... Cheers... Cricket246 (talk) 12:26, 12 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
It took me a little while to work out why everyone was so upset with Ravi. We can probably expect an increase in the next few days as the 20-20 tournament gets going. These types of edits tend to spike at big tournaments. My general philosophy with adding criticism to an umpire article is that there has to be a official response from the ICC. Some sports reporter calling a decision controversial is just run of the mill and not worth noting. It is generally not too hard to fix as most of these editors just hit-and-run and will move on pretty quickly. All you need to do is revert and warn or if it is bad ask for page protection. You have to take a bit more care with regular wikipedian editors. I have nearly been blocked for editing warring at similar articles, so it is always best to go to the talk page if you find yourself in this situation. Most regulars are pretty good at keeping biographies in perspective and once the emotion wears down are usually reasonable. Also be careful of labeling their edits as vandalism (unless it is obvious vandalism), as this is a big insult to most regulars. WP:Undue is always a good argument in these discussions (umpires make hundreds of decisions each match so why signal out one or two wrong ones and ignore the vast majority of correct ones). I would suggest looking at getting WP:Twinkle, it allows you to warn and request page protection easily. AIRcorn (talk) 19:46, 12 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes... As the tournament progresses we will see more of such vandal edits... And I've seen regular and responsible users generally don't do it... There are some upset fans who spoil in the pages in the heat of their excitement and to vent out their frustrations... They move pretty quickly but the things they do are just not acceptable... Its so cheap and kiddish to spoil the biography of a person with whom they are dissatisfied... Cricket246 (talk) 23:11, 12 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Actually some fans were upset with Rod Tucker and S. Ravi regarding that Bangladesh vs Netherlands when Ravi and Tucker performed their duty honestly and expressed concerns about the legality of bowling actions of two Bangladesh bowlers in the report to the match referee... As they reported their two lead bowlers for suspect actions in the same WC match, the fans got upset, lost all their sense of logic and reasoning and started vandalizing their wiki biographies... Its nothing new because last time in 2015 WC when a marginal no ball call by umpire Aleem Dar went against them, suddenly all hells broke loose... Mistakes happen... Every human does it some time or the other... But this attitude of abusing umpires and questioning their integrity over a marginal call made in good faith is just not acceptable... Yet when these umpires keep on giving correct decisions matches after matches nobody bats an eyelid, nobody bothers to come forward and congratulate them! Hipocrisy at its very best! Its a pity that these men who keep on doing a good job are not appreciated when they get things right but they are dissected in every possible manner even if a single call is questionable! Indeed umpiring is a thankless job! The small bit we can do is to keep their biographies in Wikipedia updated and free from the abusive vandal edits, may be just as a token of appreciation for their hard work, sacrifices and devotion towards their profession! Got right edit

I think you got it right at last at 2016 Indian Premier League.  . If you are interested in cricket articles, shall we work on some international team pages?--Vin09(talk) 12:23, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yeah sure, why no!! Always happy to contribute and help to cricket articles... But what have I 'got it' at last? What are you referring to? Didn't get you in that matter... Cricket246 (talk) 12:27, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
At this edit you reverted and re-reverted your edit again, that's I'm referring to.--Vin09(talk) 12:30, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I didn't intend to revert you actually... There was another unsourced edit after your edit, I was trying to revert that one... As I operate from a smartphone, due to very small gaps I pressed undo in your edit by mistake... After realising he blooper that I made, I quickly re-reverted it and then reverted the edit which I actually intended to... Cricket246 (talk) 12:34, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I've been maintaining List of Indian Premier League records and statistics, but sometimes it is getting outdated if I don't look after it. You can also have it in your watch list and update till IPL concludes.--Vin09(talk) 12:34, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Ok... Sure... I'm adding it to my watchlist... And I'll try to contribute there... Always happy to help... Also thanks for fixing that RPS template... Earlier the home template didn't appear on the right side that's why we had to put it on the left side... It looked a bit awkward but we didn't have any option... Now that you have fixed it, it is consistent with the other matches and also looking nice... Thanks for your help in sorting them out...   Cricket246 (talk) 12:40, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Scorecard edit

Hy, can you provide me the full scorecards of Qualifiers, Eliminators, and Final match of IPL 2016 season on Wikipedia? I'll be thankful to you. The Free Contributer (talk) 16:59, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

@The Free Contributor: It's s already inserted there along with the respective matches in the IPL 2016 wiki page... Where do you want to use the scorecards? I couldn't really understand what you exactly want to mean? Please tell clearly what you want... :/ Cricket246 (talk) 17:06, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

At 2016 IPL links of scorecards are added with respective matches but I want scorecards of playoffs at Wikipedia. The Free Contributer (talk) 17:35, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've no idea what you are talking about... The match summaries are also there in Wikipedia... How can we have entire Scorecards in Wikipedia? I've never heard about anything like that... :/ I'm totally clueless in this matter... Maybe @Lugnuts: and @Blue Square Thing: can help you out with this... Please wait for their response here... Cricket246 (talk) 17:40, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
No idea either. The Free Contributer - probably best to raise this at the article's talkpage. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 17:48, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: Actually I can't decipher what he wants us to do... As far as I can see everything is quite fine with IPL Playoffs match summaries and scorecards in the article like all other cricket pages... What exactly he wants to be done about the scorecards isn't clear to me at all... :/ Anyway @The Free Contributor: you can raise this issue in the article's talkpage and other experienced editors will be attending to it there... Hope I could help... Cheers... :) Cricket246 (talk) 17:54, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
They want scorecards to be provided here rather than linked - so, for example, the way someone has had the patience to do at 2015 Indian Premier League Final#Scorecard. Blue Square Thing (talk) 20:12, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
To be honest I rather think there's way too much data on the page anyway. I'd certainly be collapsing the summaries for starters - it's now a massively long list to scroll through. If we were to start to add scorecards to the page as well then it'd be silly. There are way too many tables on cricket project pages anyway imo without the need for another. You might get it on the final page if someone can be bothered (hint: it won't be me...) but anything else is daft Blue Square Thing (talk) 20:12, 25 May 2016 (UTC).Reply
Yeah I agree with you... I think it's fine the way it is... Cricinfo scorecards are available just at one click so we don't need more tables there in the page... Even for the final I don't think it's necessary... Already we have a lot of information so it's really not needed to stuff up the page by adding useless and extra details... I agree it's quite alright as it is... :) Cricket246 (talk) 20:18, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Points table edit

Why do you keep making this change to the points table? Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 06:50, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Lugnuts: Actually after editing the template the edited points table takes time loading in the main article, even after refreshing normally it's doesn't load there so I can't cross-check whether I edited the template correctly or not... But if this edit is made then the updated version is quickly Incorporated and I just give a look as to whether I made the changes in the points table rightly or not... I thought it's harmless so that's why I was doing it to actually refresh the page quickly and load the updated table and observe it... Is this creating any type of problems?? If it's troublesome or causing any harm, then I sincerely apologize... Cheers... 😃 Cricket246 (talk) 09:24, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
It's just a lag on the template refreshing - you don't need to make that edit for it to happen. It'll show the update in time. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 09:25, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: Ok I'll definitely keep that in mind... Won't make this edit in the page anymore... Thanks for the good advice... But please do note that whenever I edited that I corrected it immediately after that as well... So I hope it's not labelled as disruptive editing... I had no intentions of disrupting... I'm passionate about editing that page and you must have seen every match day I'm trying to contribute there and improve the contents... And yes I'll keep this issue of time lag in updating in my mind from now on and would wait rather than editing it that way... Thank you... Cheers... 😃 Cricket246 (talk) 09:32, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Qed237: Actually I'm making the edits very carefully and step by step that's why too many changes are clogging up... Since I'm operating from my smartphone when Ieave the page to copy a link for reference the page gets refreshed and I have to begin again... That's why I'm saving the edits multiple times... I'm using the preview button so that's not an issue but the refreshing of the page was the main cause of concern that forced to save these changes so frequently before copying links... Sorry for the inconvenience caused, I'm finishing it as quickly as possible without clogging up too many changes... Cricket246 (talk) 22:02, 25 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Re: Transfermarkt edit

I don't doubt for a moment that the sources you cited are accurate. That is not the concern here. The problem is that Transfermarkt's database is user-generated. To quote the Transfermarkt login page: Whether player, manager, club, or match report – as a Transfermarkt user you can edit and complete almost all data yourself. Simply click the gear, fill in the form, and click submit. As I mentioned in my edit summary, this means that Transfermarkt is a self-published source, making it no more reliable than Wikipedia itself. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:04, 27 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Sir Sputnik: Sir, one very important thing I wanted to point out... We can submit changes to Transfermarkt via a form but it's not incorporated then and there... We can suggest changes to the site but it is incorporated by the administration only after they have verified from reliable sources... Users can suggest changes to any website and then admins consider whether it's reliable or not... No information is incorporated without verifying and no user can directly change the contents of the site... we have made an error in interpreting the entire thing... So in that way it's not a self-published source or unreliable source... It's as reliable as any other source... I think we earlier made a great mistake in interpreting the exact words... The main thing to note is that no user can directly change the contents of the pages other than the concerned authorities... Cricket246 (talk) 14:13, 27 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Transfermarkt's administrative oversight is either very limited (similar to pending chages on Wikipedia), or they accept Wikipedia as a source. Few years ago, we had an issue with a very prolific editor Zombie433 (talk · contribs), who added unsourced information en masse to football BLP's. Even after they were finally blocked, it took us so long to clean up the mess they'd made, that their errors started to creep into TM pages. This leads to a very real risk of citogenisis and high potential for abuse. Regardless of how you want to classify it, there are enough of us around you "fondly" remember the Zombie incident that there's a fairly strong consensus against citing Transfermarkt.
As for your questions above, for individual matches, match reports are absolutely the way to go. For broader statements, they are not really ideal, just because you'd probably have to cite so many of them that the article becomes difficult to read. I haven't looked myself, but I suspect that FIFA, UEFA, and the KNVB all have profiles on Björn Kuipers on their websites.
Finally, in the interest of making sure you see it since I've been answering here, I'll copy User:Feenix Down's comment from my talk page below. (I hope you don't mind FD). Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:35, 27 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi Cricket, in Sir Sputnik's absence, there was a discussion held outside WP:FOOTBALL, where it was determined that the user-generated facet of Transfermarkt meant that it was not considered a reliable source, so it should not be used as a reference. I'm glad what you added you have been able to confirm as correct though as that should make it relatively easy to provide alternative references? Fenix down (talk) 14:23, 27 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Actually I replied this same thing there... Ok I'm giving a look at FIFA and UEFA websites to find out reliable info... I have found some reliable info which I'll definitely insert there in the bio... Thanks... Cricket246 (talk) 14:39, 27 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Egghead06: I've posted my reply there... Should I request an administrator to delete it?? The photo seems to be causing unnecessary complications!!
Its fixed. The only complication is of your own doing. Please don't upload copyrighted images and mark them as "own work".--Egghead06 (talk) 05:44, 30 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Egghead06: Actually I wanted to obtain a similar photo like that that's why I tried to obtain the photo via screenshot from the streaming of that match... That's why I labelled it as own work as I didn't copy it directly from copyrighted photo... Probably I messed up the rules overall regarding screenshots from streaming and all that... I didn't take into account that a copy of a photo from streaming may not be suitable!! Anyway the matter is solved now so all good... And thanks for pointing out this error to me... I could take quick corrective measures as early as possible..Thanks... 😃 Cricket246 (talk) 05:52, 30 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Future information edit

Please stop adding stats for future events, such as umpire's figures, as these games have not yet happened. I've reverted about three or four of these in the last few weeks. It's becoming disruptive. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 12:09, 13 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Lugnuts: Thanks for letting me know about this error in my editing... I'll be keeping it in mind... But please update the statistics after each and every match as the stats portion always remains untouched by editors... I won't be adding those figures earlier any more but then please make sure that the table is updated for every umpire after the beginning of each and every match... That will be helpful... Thanks!!! 😃 Cricket246 (talk) 12:14, 13 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Again, you keep doing these changes (example), but the scorecard does not yet show this! How many more times do you need to be told about this? The next time it happens, I'll be raising this at ANI and looking for blocks for disruption. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:25, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: Have a look at ICC's OFFICIAL website!!! If needed I'm adding a reference after the umpires' name leading to the website!!! It's a very valid source!!! Only two days left for the match and even if Scorecard isn't updated viewers have the right to know about the umpires officiating!!! And finally no Scorecard can be more reliable a source of reference than ICC's own official website!!! What I missed doing is adding the citations or references leading to the websites beside the names!!! Otherwise in my opinion I didn't do much wrong... I won't mind if you report me or block me because I have the most reliable citation/reference to show that the information added by me was absolutely correct... Thanks!!! Cricket246 (talk) 08:31, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
For the last time, we use the Cricinfo scorecards, as those are the sources of the match reports. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:32, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: Please show me the page where it is written so as the official rule? Or is it only a convention? Cricket246 (talk) 08:35, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
It's a long-standing convention within the Cricket Project. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:37, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: That's fair enough to have a convention but they are not official rules... And that doesn't mean another editor who can provide a reliable citation/source and is trying to add some missing information, can be accused of disruptive editing and insulted like this!!! Cricket246 (talk) 08:42, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
But you keep doing it. Time and time again. Along with other future information you keep adding on things that haven't actually happened. Keep it up and you'll be blocked. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:43, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: Excuse me Sir!!! I admitted that I was wrong in adding those future information in respective umpires' page and now I do it in the respective match days!! Why should I be blocked for that?? Cricket246 (talk) 08:47, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Because you keep doing it. How many times have you been told here? How many other editors have reverted your changes on future umpire info? Lots. I'm done here. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:48, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: Going into details, I have always seen you update umpires' infoboxes nearly an hour before the start of the match whereas it should be done after the toss takes place i.e. half an hour before the start of the match!!! Unless the toss happens no stats are recorded by Cricinfo as well... So weren't all those adding future Information and instances of disruptive editing on your part as well?? Cricket246 (talk) 08:52, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: And in case you didn't notice, I HAVE STOPPED ADDING ANY FUTURE INFO TO ANY UMPIRE'S PAGE NOW... NOW I DO IT ONLY IN THE RESPECTIVE MATCHDAYS...Now that you have been proved wrong over adding of umpires' name with a reliable information you targeting me for a previous mistake which isn't repeated anymore!!! So stop changing the topic and stop accusing me of something I've stopped doing, please!!! Cricket246 (talk) 08:56, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
And I quote - "And in case you didn't notice, I HAVE STOPPED ADDING ANY FUTURE INFO TO ANY UMPIRE'S PAGE NOW... July 2016 edit

Please stop making disruptive edits, as you did at Pakistani cricket team in England and Ireland in 2016.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lugnuts (talkcontribs) 16:49, 25 July 2016‎ (UTC)Reply

@Lugnuts: I challenge this allegation straightaway... Show me proof and explain how my edits were disruptive... You have no right to blame someone without valid proof or reason... I updated the page as per 2017 tour pages so I want immediate explanation why it's disruptive editing! Cricket246 (talk) 16:51, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Lugnuts: And immediately stop posting in my talkpage as well... First show proof and then come to warnings... Such warnings are the last thing I care about... Go ahead and do whatever you want but please don't post rubbish in my talkpage without evidence... Wikipedia isn't anyone's personal so stop acting as if you are the main authority to judge which edit is what... I care the least about your baseless and meaningless warnings... Next time don't post here without evidence..I hope I'm clear enough... Thank you so much!!! Cricket246 (talk) 17:03, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

If an experienced editor tells you you're doing something wrong, you should probably listen to them. Your account only has edits going back nearly seven months, whereas Lugnuts and I have edited here for a combined 21 YEARS. What makes you think that we should change the names of cricket grounds on here? There is no reason to pipe from The Oval to Kia Oval, and there's no reason to unpipe from Lord's to Lord's Cricket Ground. If you have a problem, raise it at WT:CRIC. – PeeJay 17:50, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi @PeeJay2K3: Well I've been improperly treated by Lugnuts that's why the argument!!! I wouldn't want others to get involved there as I think it's sorted!!! Leaving that aside, please have a look at South African cricket team in England in 2017 and West Indian cricket team in England in 2017 where Lugnuts has himself added the names as "Kia Oval", "Lord's Cricket Ground" etc... Since I consider Lugnuts as an experienced and reliable editor, I tried to implement that in 2016 tours' pages as well... Is trying to bring a parity among articles disruptive editing? Why shouldn't the same name be used everywhere? If my writing Kia Oval is a mistake then surely Lugnuts made a mistake in the above two pages as well... An experienced editor did make a mistake here, didn't he?? Cricket246 (talk) 17:59, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I don't care who started it. Yes, I believe Lugnuts made a simple mistake with those edits on next season's articles. If you also thought he made a mistake, perhaps you should have asked him about it instead of making POINTy edits that have since had to be aggressively reverted... – PeeJay 18:01, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@PeeJay2K3: I enquired very politely about this in Lugnuts' talk page but the reply was somewhat insulting for me... Have a look here at the talkpage where after my extremely polite enquiry I got the reply - "What part of "Stop posting on my talkpage" don't you understand. Be gone." Do I deserve such insults just because I'm a new editor? Have a think PeeJay!!! Cricket246 (talk) 18:07, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I already saw the discussion; clearly Lugnuts is aggravated with you. I suggest you do as he says and stop trying to talk to him for now. He's not being insulting, just curt. – PeeJay 18:14, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@PeeJay2K3: Also I absolutely had no intention of proving any point or anything... I just thought Lugnuts edited those so names like "Kia Oval" are the new and correct names and the older names needs updating... I just wanted to improve this year's articles thinking that the names in next year's article are the correct and updated names... Is it wrong??? Cricket246 (talk) 18:11, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Fine, but the moment you were reverted for the first time, you should have opened a discussion. I haven't studied the exact timeline of events here, but I can clearly see that even after the first revert, you attempted to reinstate that same edit again. Not the best idea, considering WP:BRD. – PeeJay 18:14, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@PeeJay2K3: Ok from the next time I'll be maintaining this... Actually my editing and Lugnuts' reverting all took place simultaneously that's why I didn't notice the reverts until I was done... Actually I made many mistakes a couple of weeks ago where I used to add future info to umpire's pages just after appointments were released but before the match day... Lugnuts rightly cautioned me and I immediately stopped that as I was clearly wrong there... That matter was sorted but then we had some differences in opinion in some other issues like adding umpires' names to matches, after than I even tried to fix our differences by apologizing but I have got nothing other than insults and angry rants as if I'm a stray dog or something... And I'm thoroughly sad and disappointed that Lugnuts, whom I used to look upon do guidance all the time, behaved like this with me just because I questioned him and he now has a personal vendetta against me!!! Cricket246 (talk) 18:22, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@PeeJay2K3: It's okay PeeJay... I won't ever talk to him as he wishes... But I've felt insulted today and I'm disheartened... I looked upon Lugnuts for guidance always, you know that... The equation isn't same anymore and our interaction is all but over but that's okay... I still won't bear any hard feelings against him and will still be implementing all those things which he has taught me in all these months... By the way I request you to have a look at the England tour sections in International cricket in 2016 and International cricket in 2017 where the names of these stadia needs correction and cleanup... I can't do it as Lugnuts will revert me so I request you to clean those up... Thanks!!! Cricket246 (talk) 18:29, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I didn't say you should never talk to him again, I said you shouldn't talk to him again today. I think Lugnuts has overreacted a bit, but let's not forget you have a pretty long track record of doing stuff that other members of WP:CRIC (including myself) don't like. Let's all agree from this point onwards not to bite each other's head's off about stuff, to think about our edits before we make them and to think about each other's motives for making edits before we make aggressive reverts (I'm also talking to User:Lugnuts here). – PeeJay 18:58, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Are you blind? Did you not see the link to WP:BRD? The year tour pages are different to the individual cricket tours and have had a long-standing format. You need to start discussing these changes before going ahead and fucking about like you continue to do. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 18:50, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: I didn't notice your reverts until I had completed the edits... I haven't re-edited the same section twice after you reverted my edits... I didn't re-edited after I saw your reverts and the points you stated... Why are behaving like this with me? I always listen to what you instruct!!! And stop using such insulting words please... It's getting ugly now!!! Cricket246 (talk) 18:55, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
By the way, the "International cricket in YYYY" articles use the full name of the ground. – PeeJay 19:06, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Understood my error there... Acknowledged and rectified on my part!!! Cricket246 (talk) 19:11, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@PeeJay2K3: No PeeJay it's entirely my decision not to talk to him as he gets angry and dislikes me... I also agree with you that I had my fair share of unintentional mistakes and at the same time I always wanted to know more from experienced guys like you and improve my edits... None of you can deny that I have always tried to rectify my mistakes... I have made errors but I've always tried to improve Wikipedia... I've never wished to cause anything detrimental or damaging to any article in Wiki... And no one can deny that I always look to rectify my faults as I always post queries in your wall whenever I'm reverted so that I know the exact thing and also so that I never make the errors again... Nobody can say I'm headstrong or that I don't have a will to correct my mistakes!!! Every mistake is totally unintentional and I have the urge to rectify those so that should be acknowledged I feel!!! Cricket246 (talk) 19:05, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

WP:COMMONNAME edit

Hi, Cricket246. I am being drawn to your page after seeing in my watchlist an edit by yourself on The Oval, it having just rightly been reverted by Jhall1. I am seeing also your argument with Lugnuts and would be drawing your attention to WP:COMMONNAME and within that it is saying "the term or name most typically used in reliable sources is generally preferred". You will be finding, I think, the overwhelming number of reliable sources are calling the Kennington ground The Oval and not with the name of some sponsor who is here today and will be gone tomorrow. In addition, WP:COMMONNAME is giving a sporting example being McLaren (not: Vodafone McLaren Mercedes). This is all meaning that you must be accepting and using the common name of the stadium or of the team and not some temporary name being used for the purposes of sponsorship and commercialism. Please to be complying with WP:COMMONNAME now. Thank you, Cricket246, and happy editing. Regards, Naz | talk | contribs 17:43, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Nazcheema: Thanks for the extensive explanation on this... I'll stick to this norm from now... Actually Lugnuts himself has edited some 2017 cricket tours page where he's written it as Kia Oval... Since Lugnuts is a very reliable and experienced editor here that's why I thought I might update it to Kia Oval... Actually my point is we should use the same name everywhere... Fair enough that we use The Oval but then please see for once that 2017 tour pages should also have the ground name as The Oval and not Kia Oval... Parity should be there everywhere in the articles... Please see to it once... Thanks a lot... Regards!!! Cricket246 (talk) 18:01, 25 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Re: stadium names edit

As you may have noticed, the article on the "Stadion Narodowy" is at National Stadium, Warsaw. If you think it should be renamed to Stadion Narodowy, you'll have to go through WP:RM. I might agree about Stadion Miejski (Wrocław) because that's the name of the article, but we should at least be consistent. – PeeJay 16:51, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Makes sense to me. – PeeJay 17:02, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Because the stadium is most commonly known as Estadio da Luz, hence why the article is located at that title. Why are you trying to overcomplicate things? – PeeJay 22:40, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Why should we care what name UEFA use? As I have explained to you before, for the most part, we just use the name of the article. If you asked anyone where "Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica" was, they'd probably be able to work it out, but they'd also be a little bit confused as to why you didn't just call it "Estadio da Luz". So again, I ask you, don't change it. In fact, if you find any more stadium names you think need changing, write them down and report all of them to me first. Hopefully then I'll be able to explain to you why your changes are good or bad. – PeeJay 22:53, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I understood what you were doing, I just don't understand why. As I have already asked you, why should we care what UEFA call a stadium? All that matters is what we call it, which we determine by weighing up the names given by various sources, not just UEFA. – PeeJay 23:02, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Maybe bring it up at WT:FOOTY before making such sweeping edits in the future. – PeeJay 23:11, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I would perhaps suggest that you are making too much work for yourself. This is not something you need to concern yourself with. Instead, perhaps you should focus more on making sure that facts are broadly accurate instead of worrying about these minutiae. – PeeJay 00:24, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's not added by me!! It's there in every renowned international umpires' page!! It's a long standing trandition maintained and provides a short career summary of umpires!! It's not detailed statistics!! You can't overrule things without logic!! Cricket246 (talk) 13:39, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
The policy over-rides your "logic". So what if it's on other pages. They'll be gone soon too. Per the policy. Lugnuts Precious bodily fluids 13:41, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well, you continue to edit-war, so it won't be long until you're blocked. For good, hopefully. Lugnuts Precious bodily fluids 13:46, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
We'll see to that!! The policy says that statistics which are explained and in the form of a table are absolutely allowed!! You're no authority to decide all by yourself whether or not statistics are unexplained... You've to get a consensus before you discard someone's idea... You didn't have any issue till now but now all of a sudden you have problems with these!! It's well within the policy that brief statistics may be included in tabular form so I want a proper explanation as to why you're removing them!! Cricket246 (talk) 13:49, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
In between making 20 or so consecutive pointless edits to articles, take a read of WP:NOTIINFO. Lugnuts Precious bodily fluids 13:51, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I've read it and it never says that statistics are not allowed... Only unexplained statistics are not allowed and explained statistics in the tabulated form are very much allowed so what I'm doing is well within the policy... And how many edits I'll make that's none of your concern anyway!! Cricket246 (talk) 13:55, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

This is your only warning; if you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced or poorly sourced defamatory content into an article or any other Wikipedia page again, as you did at Marais Erasmus, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.

Appropriate source will follow soon... Don't worry!!! Cricket246 (talk) 14:00, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

March 2017 edit

Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Michael Oliver (referee). Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Class455 (talk|stand clear of the doors!) 12:06, 15 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I don't get you. How's that defamatory? Michael Oliver is a member of the Northumberland Football Association and so is Mark Clattenburg. Both began their refereeing career from there as well. It's a fact that they were enrolled with the Northumberland Football Association and that is their home board so how is that defamatory? I'm adding a proper source along with it! Cricket246 (talk) 12:09, 15 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Cricket246 - Please read the warning carefully, it says it "could be defamatory" not definitely. It also applies to any unsourced content added to articles about living people. Also, you must always add a source within the edit in the first place to save it being reverted. And can I ask you please to make use of the edit summary to describe to editors what you have changed? Thank you. Class455 (talk|stand clear of the doors!) 12:12, 15 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ok I do get you. I have added a proper source with it now. I'll keep that edit summary thing in my mind as well from the next time I edit. Thank you!! 🙂 Cricket246 (talk) 12:18, 15 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
No problem, Just don't do it again and all will be well. Class455 (talk|stand clear of the doors!) 12:36, 15 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah sure! Thank you! 😊 Cricket246 (talk) 14:40, 15 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you so much. Cricket246 (talk) 12:50, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

The match is supposed to be held today so I obviously don't see anything wrong with it... Maybe waiting till the toss can be an option... And you can go and report that's upto you but blocking is up to the administrators so don't threaten me with your dialogues... Thank You!! :) Cricket246 (talk) 07:52, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

2017 FIFA Confederations Cup Group A edit

Why do you insist on using the "index" URL? See the 2014 FIFA World Cup, all URLs link to the "report", as is common practice for FIFA reports. The link contains the match information necessary, and will contain full time report at the end of the match. No reason "index" needs to be used. S.A. Julio (talk) 10:16, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@S.A. Julio: The index is basically the official FIFA scorecard... I just checked the scorecard links of 2014 World Cup as well and it's index there as well... The index is actually the report where all the information are available... Please have a look for once you'll see it!! :) Cricket246 (talk) 10:23, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
What? See 2014 FIFA World Cup knockout stage, all URLs link to "report.html" as they should, the URL for the official match report. The link is not meant to go to the overall match home, but rather the official report, which includes attendance (part of what needs to be sourced). S.A. Julio (talk) 15:32, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Actually it's the other way round... It should take us to the overall match home as the report is in the form of a PDF and we can't put PDFs in reports... The overall match home is a better option and users can search accordingly what they want to see... The report is usually attached in PDF format just beside the attendance figure as a reference!!! :) Cricket246 (talk) 16:34, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
There are two official reports, one is an HTML webpage, the other a PDF. The official HTML webpage report should be used, as it has been used for numerous tournaments past. The URL is intended to link directly to the match details, as it is used as a reference for the match information, all the other stuff on the "index" page is unnecessary. The attendance usually does not have a separate linking to the PDF, again see 2014 FIFA World Cup knockout stage. There is no need for a separate reference when the official report is used. S.A. Julio (talk) 16:59, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
I checked it again... Here's is what is attached as reference for the final section in the Report section : "http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/matches/round=255959/match=300186501/index.html" It's clearly index.html as far as I can see and that's what it is supposed to be!! :) Cricket246 (talk) 17:04, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
What are you talking about? See 2014 FIFA World Cup group stage, 2014 FIFA World Cup Group A, 2014 FIFA World Cup Group B, 2014 FIFA World Cup Group C, 2014 FIFA World Cup Group D, 2014 FIFA World Cup Group E, 2014 FIFA World Cup Group F, 2014 FIFA World Cup Group G, 2014 FIFA World Cup Group H, 2014 FIFA World Cup knockout stage, 2014 FIFA World Cup Final, they all use /report.html. Why is this any different? S.A. Julio (talk) 17:22, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
After I open the links it leads to index.com eventually just as I quoted it for you... No idea why or how it's happening!!! Cricket246 (talk) 21:27, 15 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Not sure why the URL would lead to index.html, it doesn't for me, I get the official match report page. Either way, in the wikitext of those articles, "report.html" is used, and we should stay consistent with past tournaments. S.A. Julio (talk)
I think we should wait for some more experienced, senior editor to take a call on this... There are enough doubts as of now to agree with any one of the formats by a 100%!!! :) Cricket246 (talk) 06:21, 16 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Indian cricket team in the West Indies in 2017 edit

Hi. Appreciate if you could at this article, esp. as those match reports have been added back in again. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:30, 29 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Lugnuts: We invited him for a discussion in the talk page but it seems the editor didn't turn up there... Unless a majority of the community supports keeping of the match reports, we cannot suddenly change the set pattern we maintain in all other tour pages... What should we be doing now??? I'm a bit confused!!! Cricket246 (talk) 15:14, 29 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Lugnuts: I just saw the relevant talk page now and went through all the replies and arguments... I've shared my thoughts there and I've also explained why as per Wiki protocols we can't keep the match reports unless a majority of the community wants a change... Would be nice to have further inputs from you over there!!! Cricket246 (talk) 18:58, 29 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Cricket246. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, List of international matches refereed by Björn Kuipers, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Adamtt9 (talk) 02:11, 28 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Personally felt that it's notable and suitable enough to create a separate page but if the majority of the community thinks it to be useless then delete it. I've no issues with that at all. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 18:33, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

September 2017 edit

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Björn Kuipers, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. 47.208.29.36 (talk) 15:44, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please stop continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Björn Kuipers, without resolving the problem that the template refers to. This may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing. 47.208.29.36 (talk) 17:40, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure what your goal is there, but you are in the wrong. I would suggest you stop reverting the tags and simply find the sources that are requested. AIRcorn (talk) 17:43, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Those were some wrong reverts on my part. Happened quite a few times by mistake. I'm looking to add the relevant sources soon. I've them ready with me. Thanks for pointing out. Cricket246 (talk) 18:31, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove the maintenance templates from Wikipedia articles without resolving the problem that the template refers to. 72.19.61.71 (talk) 14:37, 11 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

The problem is resolved... No way is that page overlinked... The other issues need to be and will be looked into but the overlink template is absolutely unnecessary in that context I must say... Cricket246 (talk) 16:28, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'm afraid it is grossly overlinked and quite surprised you still keep removing the maintenance templates (Ownership issue much?). Let me break it down for you:
  • MOS:OVERLINK states that you do not link "The names of major geographic features, locations (e.g. United States, New York City (or New York in the context of the city), London (if the context rules out London, Ontario, etc.), France, Berlin...), languages, nationalities (e.g. English, British, American, French, German...) and religions (e.g. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism...)", but you keep linking major geographic features such as Brazil, Netherlands and Amsterdam.
  • MOS:OVERLINK also states that "Generally, a link should appear only once in an article, but if helpful for readers, a link may be repeated in infoboxes, tables, image captions, footnotes, hatnotes, and at the first occurrence after the lead." There are multiple instances of the same link within the same subsection - AZ Alkmaar, Amsterdam Arena, Amsterdam, De Kuip, Rotterdam, Spain national football team, etc
  • What is also a major concern is the level of detail in each sentence; I honestly do not see any value in mentioning the stadium name of where each and every match he officiated took place and the dates too (Like, seriously?). Linking of Group B, Group C, etc also seems superfluous in the context of the primary topic.
I am amazed you've made over 1650 edits to that article. Even if you added one just word in each of your edits, I don't think there is half the number of words in the article currently. Just saying. 98.228.21.195 (talk) 17:28, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Would you prefer the major international matches by him in a tabular form then?? If you feel the article has so many flaws please do edit it and modify it accordingly to improve it instead of writing so many stuffs in my talkpage... And as far as editing the page goes I'll continue with it and I'll keep modifying the page I way I feel it to be better... If the majority of the community thinks it needs changing please go ahead and feel free to edit and change such contents... And in that case do tell me what pattern is needed to be followed, I'll help in the modification too... Please do take the pain to contribute to the page by making some edits as that would be really helpful... Thank you very much!!! Cricket246 (talk) 20:59, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Editing pattern edit

Hi Cricket246. I appreciate the work you do updating articles here, but was hoping to convince you to change your style of making lots of small edits to an article when it could be updated in one or two. For example at Kumar Dharmasena you used 8 edits to make this change. This is an issue for me because I watch all umpire articles and when a game is about to commence it gets filled up with all your small changes (two umps per game and sometimes multiple games on at similar times). The software can only handle so many entries when I view my watchlist (which currently sits at over 3000 articles) and I worry that some changes will fall off before I can check them. As a large part of my watchlist consists of sports officials much of these edits are vandalism and need to be reverted. I bring this up now as I have been away for a while over the holidays and am already behind on my watchlist. I hope you will consider this request. AIRcorn (talk) 03:30, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks for pointing this out... I'll surely keep this in mind from the next time I make the edits... Thanks for letting me know... I'll definitely do it accordingly for the next time... Wish you a very Happy New Year!! 🙂 Cricket246 (talk) 05:45, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
And yet you ignore this completly with your edits! With regards to Bongani Jele, we don't add all the fan cruft that YOU (and you alone) insist on adding to articles. Per WP:BRD, you need to discus this on the article talkpage. Do not re-add the content, as that would be edit warring, and you'll get blocked. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:06, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Threats elsewhere please... All the umpires' pages have that information included so same will be for Bongani Jele... As per Wikipedia rules, small amount of stats that are in context with a particular section of the article are absolutely fine as long as they are properly sourced... So there is no reason why that shouldn't remain just like the table exists for other umpires... It's you who needs to get a consensus before deleting some perfectly acceptable minimum statistics which are properly sourced and cited in an umpire's page... And threats elsewhere please!! Cricket246 (talk) 19:20, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Please, please, please use the preview window. Three days, 91 edits and not a lot of changes.[3] Forty eight edits in one day for this. I don't think you fully realise how much this messes up my watchlist. I don't have an issue with the changes personally, but they are disrupting my ability to edit here and that is becoming a problem. So please try to use less edits when making these sort of changes. Regards AIRcorn (talk) 21:53, 17 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Actually since I operate from a mobile phone it's a little bit difficult for me to make big edits at a go but still I'll be trying my level best even more. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 21:57, 17 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
There must be some way to make this work for the both of us. I don't edit from, or even have, a mobile phone so will not be much help. @Cullen328: has written an essay (User:Cullen328/Smartphone editing) on maybe he has some advice. AIRcorn (talk) 22:08, 17 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I'm going through this right now. Surely will be helpful for me. Many thanks for sharing it with me. ☺️ Cricket246 (talk) 22:12, 17 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I do over 95% of my editing on an Android smartphone. I am an administrator and use my smartphone for complex operations like deleting articles and blocking disruptive users. I have expanded many articles, written new articles, and taken articles through Good article reviews on my phone. I always use the fully functional desktop site on my phone except for occasional tests of the mobile site, which I do not like. I make brief edits directly to article space. I draft more complex material in sandbox pages, proofread it carefully, and then copy and paste to the article when the content is ready for prime time. I hope that this helps. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:18, 18 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Cullen328: This is very helpful. I want to know about a few things in greater detail though. Can I post on your talkpage concerning that? Cricket246 (talk) 05:56, 18 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sure. Post on my talk page at any time. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:32, 18 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

January 2018 edit

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

I see you are ignoring this warning - I'm sure you have better things to do with your time. If you continue, you will be blocked. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:47, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • I just need a suitable explanation from you to understand the situation... I have my side of the case so I want a discussion on it Cricket246 (talk) 08:51, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Please STOP edit-warring. The RfC consensus is clear, so we abide by that, unless you can get support otherwise. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 15:02, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
No it's not. RfC has a lot other clauses and a new RfC is ongoing so you can't remove them as of yet. Cricket246 (talk) 15:04, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

WP:OVERLINK edit

Hi. Please see WP:OVERLINK. You should not link to names of countries, etc. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:48, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Lugnuts: The page clearly says "These are two sides of a spectrum with a grey area between them, which varies by context". In the context of a player or official I think the country should be linked at least once in the infobox. Anybody may be prompted to find out more about the country from the players' page. Cricket246 (talk) 09:52, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
The page cleary states "Unless a term is particularly relevant to the context in the article, the following are not usually linked: - This generally includes major examples of: geographic features (e.g., the Himalayas, Pacific Ocean, South America), locations (e.g., United States; New York City, or just New York if the city context is already clear; London, if the context rules out London, Ontario; Japan; Brazil; Southeast Asia)" - IE, countries should not be linked. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:56, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Also see Deaths in 2018 as an example. Yes, the country of the individual is very important, but it's never linked. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me
@Lugnuts: It's not said that the country name cannot be linked at all. I totally agree that repeatedly linking the country name would be absolutely useless but countries like New Zealand, South Africa which are less common than say England or Australia needs to be linked at least once and the best way to do that is the infobox I feel. We have to think from the viewpoint of all users. Cricket246 (talk) 11:10, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
No one is going to an umpire's article and thinking they need to click on a link for "England" or "South Africa", for example, to see more about that country, hence why it is not linked. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:11, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
My argument is that the policy doesn't say it's not allowed to be linked so if I as an user choose to link it on ground can you overturn that? The policy never says an editor can't link them, it even says it's a grey area. Cricket246 (talk) 11:16, 24 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
You are now edit-warring at the article for Gerard Abood. Please explain why you keep making this pointless edit to this article and continue with disruption? Please stop with this type of behaviour, as it will lead to you being blocked. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:06, 25 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Not disruptive. There is always a space between the infobox and the prose. Cricket246 (talk) 09:21, 25 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
No there isn't. Show me the MOS that states this. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:34, 25 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Similarly you show me the appropriate policy which forbids the linking of country name totally. If we stick hard and fast to MOS then lots of your BS will need to be reverted pretty much immediately 😉 Plus does any MOS state that giving the space there is unacceptable?? If not, you may as well walk away Cricket246 (talk) 09:36, 25 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Matt Fitzpatrick: The view has changed actually. I'm trying get one such example for you. Actually the basic change is that the date, stadium name, attendance etc have all been stuffed towards the left in a very clumsy way and it's impossible to keep track of the scorecards from a smartphone!! Hello, I edit every Match in IPL 2018 Match score from starting, you are a coordinator of wiki ipl Project, is this possible you make me vice coordinator???? Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 12:40, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Mr.Mani Raj Paul: Hi. Yes it's possible to make you the vice coordinator but for it you have to wait for a few days. I'm very busy with my examinations till 27th April so I'll do it after Friday. I hope you can wait a little. Cricket246 (talk) 12:55, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes I will wait till Friday. Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 12:58, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Mr.Mani Raj Paul: Sorry to say but you may not be given the post of Vice-coordinator because of you disruptive behaviour and edit warring. This is not the first time you have done it and you continued it repeatedly today even when you were wrong. This terribly reduces your chances of being a Vice-coordinator. I'll consult with other members next week what to do but till then you are not a Vice-coordinator. Cricket246 (talk) 20:35, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sir what I did?? Are you talking about Match no 21? But Sir I update every single Match of IPL. Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 13:53, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Mr.Mani Raj Paul, that was clearly inappropriate behaviour on your part. You were edit warring without any reason. Also you were clearly wrong from the very onset inserting all those needless information and adding it again and again when someone correctly removed it. Sorry but that was not a good thing what you did! And sorry to say that you are too inexperienced currently to hold a post. You've to gain 2 more seasons of experience before you can be elevated so happy editing and hope you keep in mind all rules of Wikipedia! Please don't don't take all credits for the edits made as there are a lot of other members who work hard all time to contribute to IPL pages and it is not you alone who is contributing. Every editor and member of the project has an equal contribution towards the smooth maintenance of the IPL pages, it's not only you and is always a collective effort by many other users! Cricket246 (talk) 15:36, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sir I added only IPL debut in a match no 21, but one user revert my changes again & again, I think this is not my mistake, if you think I made a mistake, so please consider this is my last mistake, I want to say again please consider me a Vice coordinator, because Every Time I contribute to IPL, please give me 2-3 days.Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 16:12, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Mr.Mani Raj Paul You were wrong because he was correctly reverting the link you added. As per policy we do not add links to debut information and also IPL debuts separately aren't added. And as I told you already that to be elevated to a higher post you need to have 2 full seasons of experience at first. So before 2019 you cannot be nominated unless you have the required experience. Happy editing till then and please don't call me as Sir... I'm probably younger than you or belonging to the same generation as you so no calling Sir! Cricket246 (talk) 18:05, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

I agree with this, I will wait till 2019 & 2020. & Don't forget,please Remember me In future bye.....Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 18:14, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes I will remember you. We will keep working together on the IPL project as well as the cricket project, I hope! Happy editing to you! Cricket246 (talk) 18:22, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello brother, I want to ask a question that how many users can take IPL Burnstar award?? Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 05:45, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Mr.Mani Raj Paul Hi. I actually don't know about it, my friend. I just concentrate on my edits so never really kept track of the badges and barnstars! Cricket246 (talk) 06:23, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Okay friend, I agree with your information. Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 06:27, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

IPL matches edit

Can you please explain why you reverted my changes to those IPL articles? There is absolutely zero reason to add summaries of 50+ individual matches to each of those pages. – PeeJay 20:16, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@PeeJay2K3: Hi. Last year there was a discussion on keeping details of matches in IPL matches. The general consensus reached by active members under the Wiki Project IPL in that case was that the match summaries would be kept. That's why we shouldn't be overruling that without a proper consensus. Cricket246 (talk) 21:37, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

April 2018 edit

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Michael Oliver (referee), without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Please gain consensus before mass deleting. Egghead06 (talk) 03:31, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Egghead06: Hi. I was actually making a test edit. Forgot that I wasn't using the sandbox then. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Cricket246 (talk) 14:46, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Umpires edit

Can you please check why there is a third umpires name in the first match today as written in the source? TheBiz (talk) 10:45, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@A Simple Human: Hi. It was actually an error by ESPNcricinfo in their scorecard which has been corrected now. Anil Chaudhary and Vineet Kulkarni were the umpires. Cricket246 (talk) 14:48, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Back from the future? You ended the innings before it actually ended!! TheBiz (talk) 16:07, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rayatbiz Yeah was a couple of minutes too quick technically :D Didn't make a great deal of difference though! Cricket246 (talk) 16:11, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Did you just take over the IPL WikiProject? What happened to the other coordinators? Good luck in that case. TheBiz (talk) 18:25, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rayatbiz and many thanks for the wishes. Yes, I did take over the charge of the project as the other coordinators are either on a prolonged break or have left for an indefinite time. So in their absence I'm making an attempt to take care of the project although I've managed to do very little till now and I badly need some experienced Vice-coordinators to help me out by working as a team. Also with my exams and everything going on I am not able to give as much time as I would like to the project but hopefully with help from all of you I will be able to do a more or less steady job. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 05:53, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

An user changed the appearance of the match templates. Can you please review them as this is not how a match scorecard should look like in Wikipedia compared to others matches. TheBiz (talk) 07:42, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rayatbiz. He actually asked me if he can do it and I asked him to go ahead since we have no particular policy that disallows stylising match scorecards. I personally have no issues with it plus it looks good too but I'm open to suggestions from the other project members. In case that it is looking good I assume it's fine to keep it like that. What do you think? Cricket246 (talk) 08:38, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Well I believe in equality. It'll be weird to edit it that in only one season and also the remaining matches around the world. But then again it's not my league (because I'm not from India?), so it's your wish. I usually edit scores from leagues all around the world and mostly my country as a time pass. My goal is obviously making Wikipedia better. So from now on I won't have any other objections if you want my opinion. And thing to add. The user you mentioned seemed to have asked you about awarding badges. As far as I know, badges in a WikiProject is given by coordinators. Since you've become a lead coordinator now, you can give badges to project members according to the badge description. You can award it to yourself too now. TheBiz (talk) 13:22, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Rayatbiz for letting me know about the badges. I was not too conversant about it and hence why I couldn't award it. Coming to the edit, I can't stop the user from doing it as what he has done isn't against any Wikipedia policy. But of course in case other members have different suggestions we will act as per majority for sure. You are editing regularly in this project and you're completely entitled to give your point of view and take part in discussion. And country doesn't matter, Wikipedia is not your or mine and it belongs equally to all of us irrespective of which country we belong to or which league it is. Have I ever made you feel in this project that you're not welcome because you are not from India? I think never. You are one of the best editors in this project and your opinion is of course important to the project so I request you to put your views to the concerned user as well if you think something can be done differently. And please don't consider me a bad person as I never differentiate any person based on nationality or anything and like any Indian editor, you are also my good friend whether you are from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia or England I just don't care. Everyone is my friend, we are all citizens of the world and Wikipedia also belongs to all of us. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 13:54, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't specifically talking about you. There are many members in the project that might get annoyed because I'm editing. But my intentions weren't those. As I've said I like to update scores and edit records more than any other works related to the project. TheBiz (talk) 14:19, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please continue to contribute in whatever way you feel like. Your work is valuable to us like any other editor's work. Regards and happy editing Rayatbiz. Cricket246 (talk) 14:57, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ok I'll try TheBiz (talk) 15:43, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Cricket246 (talk) 16:38, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Oh thanks you removed the designs. They looked awful. TheBiz (talk) 14:31, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

That was the discussion and we decided to remove it. Cricket246 (talk) 14:38, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

It seems like you also edit football articles. Why don't you change your name to something else so that it does not only highlight cricket, like i did mine? TheBiz (talk) 04:02, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the late reply. Actually this name is kind of very close to my heart. Will think about a possible change later. Cricket246 (talk) 22:30, 19 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have got some advice for you. An user named Ron2K is updating results of matches today. As a coordinator, can you please invite him to join the IPL WikiProject? Human (talk) 14:14, 19 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the information. I'll invite him to join the project. Cricket246 (talk) 22:30, 19 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

If CSK wins today they might replace SRH in first position. I included the note so that the order of teams can be changed. But if CSK loses by 75 or more runs they might go down to third place pushing KKR up.Human (talk) 11:40, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi A Simple Human. I understand why you did that but it's not particularly necessary to keep a scorecard like that. In case of a change it will be done later but for now let it be as per it is in the scorecard. One request : When you post in my talkpage next please start a new discussion instead of posting in this one as it would be easier for me to find out. Cricket246 (talk) 11:44, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

According to rules in editing cricket related articles, editing notes in a scorecard is not allowed until a reliable source is given (this does not include rain and debuts). I didn't knew it myself but thanks to Lugnuts for pointing it out. If you see someone editing like that please immediately revert it. Human (talk) 21:31, 23 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

In case the information is correct, we should focus on linking it with a source rather than deleting it. Cricket246 (talk) 07:03, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I know but cannot add it without citing a source. Human (talk) 09:38, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

It's fine. Those aren't greatly notable info anyway. Cricket246 (talk) 09:46, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Well an editor named Mayerroute5 is constantly reverting your edits without explanations regarding the home team in playoffs. If you wish you can appeal for blocking him. Human (talk) 17:13, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I don't want to be harsh with any editor that is relatively new... For now I'm reverting his edits and in case he doesn't stop let's see what I will do... Of course I don't want to be as harsh as asking for a block from the very onset but in case it continues we have to go for it! Cricket246 (talk) 17:19, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

The user has reverted your edits again. He has been given notices about being blocked by administrators but doesn't seem to listen. Give him a message regarding this if you want. Human (talk) 17:48, 25 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I've to appeal for a block now. He has been warned for several times now. Cricket246 (talk) 18:29, 25 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

April 2018 edit

Hello, I'm Kirbanzo. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Michael Oliver (referee) have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Thanks. Kirbanzo (talk) 18:51, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Note: Not saying your were vandalizing, just pointing out the edits you made were redundant. Kirbanzo (talk) 18:52, 27 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
There were no problems with those edits. You have to provide a sufficient reason on why you removed my edits over there. You just can't judge it by yourself that it's redundant and remove it. The edits were completely okay and hence has to be done again! Cricket246 (talk) 05:44, 28 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Reversion edit

Well you have to add info according to the source not television. I mean this is how edits are made. TheBiz (talk) 14:14, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rayatbiz, For the tournament of IPL the biggest source is the official IPL scorecard in the BCCI website and as soon as the information regarding toss or player of the match are updated there or it has actually happened in reality it can be and has to be put in the template and that's the long standing protocol here in case you had some doubts. You may follow other set of protocols but you cannot revert edits without proper explanation in any case in any page. I hope that clears things up. Cricket246 (talk) 14:18, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Informing you edit

Just letting you know that I've started this: Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Personal_attacks_by_Lugnuts about Lugnuts regarding his comments at you here Galobtter (pingó mió) 08:05, 1 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much Galobtter. I've been subjected to a lot of such attacks for the past 10-12 months but nobody ever said anything and neither did I know the proper protocol to report these to the appropriate place. There are several other personal abuse hurled at me by that certain user. Thanks for helping me out and bringing it to notice of the administrators. Cricket246 (talk) 09:14, 1 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I started the thread especially because I felt that you weren't sure exactly what to do about those attacks. Bringing more evidence of such attacks at that section I started (with linking to the appropriate diffs, similar to how I did) would help build a stronger case. Galobtter (pingó mió) 09:20, 1 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Many thanks Galobtter. I'm gathering some more evidence and sharing them with you, then can you please help me how to put them on over there? Cricket246 (talk) 09:24, 1 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Just reply to my comment, and like I did, quote the comments he made while linking to the diff (or just post the diffs here on your talk page and ping me, and I'll add them there) Galobtter (pingó mió) 09:28, 1 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm very thankful to you Galobtter for helping me out. I've always been personally abused and harrassed with such vicious comments by Lugnuts and bullied by him because of being a new editor. I never gave in to his dictator-like approach in the Cricket approach and that's how he started abusing me for every change I made from his own preferred patterns. I never knew where to report or what to do accurately but I'm thankful to you for helping me out while being subjected to this distress. He's really aggressive towards me and after his block is over I'm sure he will come at me with such attacks once again, he has been doing it regularly in various places for the past 1 year. Many thanks for the help and I'll be more vocal about any further personal abuse I receive in future. Cricket246 (talk) 10:24, 1 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Apology from the batting crease edit

Hi. To echo what I said on my page, and so it's here for posterity, I apologise again for all and anything I said. I wont bring the whole thing up again, but thanks for accepting my apology on my talkpage. Right, happy to help out with all things cricket related. Get back to me, say this time tomorrow, once I've caught up from being out of the loop for a day, with any issues! Or start a discussion at WT:CRIC to get the (no)ball rolling. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:21, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Lugnuts As I told you earlier, I don't bear any hard feelings from the episode. I'm more than ready to forget all these and start afresh as I told you earlier. Just one request from my part, please don't ever be so abusive and hurtful to anyone. It really hurt a lot for the past one year all those insults, even more so considering you were my only support for the initial months when I joined Wikipedia. Don't cause a person so much pain that's what I want to appeal to you. Regards and happy editing. Cricket246 (talk) 12:44, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mr.Mani Raj Paul. I don't really know about the concept of Barnstar awards and all that. I never work for awards. I would advise you to ask Rayatbiz (A Simple Human) or Lugnuts about this. They maybe able to help you better on this. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 11:33, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Okay Friend , I will ask them Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 11:58, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Friend I want to say if you looked at 2011 Indian Premier League & go to the League stage you will see there are different backgrounds colour added in every Match, can I apply same thing in 2018 Indian Premier League at League stage??? I think it looks good, what you think friend?? Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 16:05, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Mr.Mani Raj Paul It is not compulsory but if you want to do it you may try... But as I said it is not mandatory but at the same time there is no reason why you can't do it... In case you want to try out you can go ahead! Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 16:14, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

No Friend, you are my teacher Because you are coordinator & I'm your student, I just want your permission regarding this, this happened only in 1 Time in IPL in 2011, so can I do?????Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 16:28, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

No, no it is not like that Mr.Mani Raj Paul. You are fully within your rights to try out any edit that doesn't break the policies and conventions of the project. I'm no one to permit or deny, I can only intervene in case any policy is not followed. And this suggested change by you within Wikipedia rules so you can definitely go for the edit. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 17:32, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wow Mr.Mani Raj Paul. For sure is looks very nice. Well done with the editing. The format looks really good I must say. Congratulations. Cricket246 (talk) 05:58, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Friend, it's my pleasure, I made this theme by my own because I'm also a PHP Developer. Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 06:47, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mr.Mani Raj Paul. Really good work done. But we have to also consider what the other project members are saying. I don't think there will be any problem, but still we have to wait for other members to approve the style. After that we can confirm it so kindly allow us some time to discuss and finalize. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 08:43, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

It's ok Friend, I think they will approve this thing because it's beautiful. Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 09:34, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I hope so too. Cricket246 (talk) 09:37, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Friend why you remove IPL Templates border?? Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 00:54, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Mr.Mani Raj Paul It was decided in a discussion unanimously by most members of Cricket Project to stay with the old format so I had to remove it. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 06:44, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sorry to interfere here but giving Barnstar totally depends on Cricket246 since you are the admin. And I have already provided information about it. And about the designs it is important to follow the general rule since most of the cricket tournaments like the World Cup use the normal infoboxes. In that case, IPL should not be different. TheBiz (talk) 14:38, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

The implementation of the new scorecard templates has been overturned for those reasons and about the Barnstar I've told MMRP that it will come later after he gains some more experience. Cricket246 (talk) 14:59, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

All done edit

It has been a great IPL season. Thanks for all the help. I am now officially signing out. See you next season. Human (talk) 18:48, 27 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018 edit

Hey. Since, this season IPL's done, I would like to know if and when someone can rate the above mentioned page again considering there might not be any more changes in that page. Any suggestions to improve the page are also welcome. Thanks. Sagavaj (talk) 02:30, 28 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Sagavaj. You can request a review in the talkpage of Cricket Project. Some user will review and rate it with a grade. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 08:33, 28 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I recently nominated - List of Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketers as featured list candidate (you can see discussion) and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018 as good article candidate (someone is yet to start a review). It would be great if you can review and provide your comments/suggestions on any of those. Thanks. Sagavaj (talk) 16:38, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I will try to do a review once I get time. Cricket246 (talk) 16:57, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Appreciate it. Sagavaj (talk) 18:14, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Article is picked by reviewer and the reviewer provided some feedback. I fixed most of the mistakes and would be happy if you can check it once and see if I missed anything or if you find any other mistakes. Thanks. Sagavaj (talk) 00:36, 28 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi. It will be the best if you request the same reviewer to go through it again and check the fixes. That will help achieve a fair achievement. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 06:13, 28 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Can you just do the grammar check for the List of Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketers article. I made some changes based on the discussion. Thanks. Sagavaj (talk) 22:17, 8 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I will surely look it up but need a few days time as I'm incredibly busy with my educational life at this moment. After 4-5 days I'll be looking at it carefully. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 22:38, 8 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I know you might still be busy but just want to let you know that the List of Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketers passed FL nomination. Another FL for WP:IPL Cheers!!! Sagavaj (talk) 02:00, 25 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

2018 IPL edit

Please stop removing the special awards table on the 2018 Indian Premier League page. That table is used at the end of previous IPL pages and there is no need to remove that. 116.68.72.96 (talk) 17:14, 8 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

That has been approved. It will stay, don't worry. Cricket246 (talk) 17:25, 8 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I read your talk page and offered advice. Feel free to ignore it.Eschoryii (talk) 07:37, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Eschoryii, I don't think you need to offer your advice on something you know nothing about. Since you don't know in detail about the thing you shouldn't comment. And anyway it's all good now between me and Lugnuts. Cricket246 (talk) 10:02, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oooh, my own fanclub section! Cricket246 - In an unrelated matter, I've helped with a move you've requested for the Central Stadium (Yekaterinburg) article. Please see my comments there. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:46, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Lugnuts for the help. Much appreciated. I will put up some sources there soon. Cricket246 (talk) 11:10, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

June 2018 edit

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Andrés Cunha does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Nzd (talk) 13:57, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for letting me know. I will keep this in mind for sure. Cricket246 (talk) 15:20, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rating to an article edit

Hey. When you create a page, can you give yourself stub/start rating to an article? Because, I observed most of the frequent editors are following this. Whenever they create a page and talk page for that associating with some WikiProject, they are also immediately rating it to Start/Stub rating. If yes, can anyone do that or does someone need to have some permissions to do that? Thanks. Sagavaj (talk) 20:22, 19 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Sagavaj. A stub rating is given to an article that is very short where more information needs to be added and so on. As far as I know, anybody can put it on. Basically it just means the page needs expansion, I think. You can consult with more experienced editors as well in order to gain more information on this! Why the revert of my edit of Björn Kuipers? edit

Hi Cricket246. I share your love of sports, especially cricket. Keep up the good work. As with those great games, team work brings better results and is so much more enjoyable. Therefore I am mystified by the revert of Björn Kuipers which lacks an edit summary to explain your reasoning. Btw You have restored a grammar error: "He is assisted" should be "He has assisted". Awaiting your reply, your team mate DadaNeem (talk) 21:44, 6 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I have responded in your talkpage and explained the reason for the revert. Sorry for missing out on the edit summary. Regards! Cricket246 (talk) 21:47, 6 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the prompt reply. You are quite right. I introduced an error, so my apologies; your revert was justified on that count. May I suggest "He is assisted" could be "He has been assisted by" as the reference mentions the 2018 UEFA Europa League final but no other cases of Kuipers being assisted by those referees. What about the 2 wikilinks of my edit? DadaNeem (talk) 22:02, 6 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Actually he still continues to be assisted by them. Tomorrow we have the Sweden v England match and there we have Kuipers, van Roekel and Zeinstra appointed together. The Wiki links linking to the Wikipedia Netherlands preferably shouldn't be linked here in English Wikipedia as per general convention of the project. Regards. Name edit

Hi. There is no such rules to write full name. Check the Template:Cr-CPL on writing team name on the result section. A Simple Human (talk) 00:10, 10 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

A long standing convention is there where we mention full name in results and there is no reason to change that. It was agreed to proceed that way and the consistency will be maintained accordingly. Cricket246 (talk) 00:15, 10 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

That was for international matches or else the matches in Pakistan Super League and Bangladesh Premier League would have followed the same. A Simple Human (talk) 00:21, 10 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

It should be followed everywhere. That was the consensus reached among the members. I don't edit much in PSL or BPL pages so I can't comment on that but just because in those two pages we have something, we can implement it elsewhere just for the sake of it. Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 05:06, 10 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Marais Erasmus edit

Hi. Why did you restore to a version full or errors and mistakes? Please take a look at the edit summaries I provided for each edit. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:36, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

It was a mess up on my part, I must say. Although I must mention that I'm still quite not convinced with a few areas so can we remodel the page to a greater extent? I think some more modifications in the prose might be good for the page! Regards. Cricket246 (talk) 16:07, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
No worries. I just did a quick copy edit, and fixed a few MOS-related issues. Let me know what parts your not convinced on, and we'll go through them. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:29, 14 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Deccan Chargers in 2009 edit

Hi. I recently created the Deccan Chargers in 2009 article and am planning to make a GA nomination for that article. It would be great if you could take a quick look and suggest any ways on improving the article. Btw, it also needs the normal rating since the article was created the couple of days back. Thanks in advance. Sagavaj (talk) 03:13, 24 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
