March 2017 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:Red Jay, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Wes Mouse Talk 13:18, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Just to clarify on what you did wrong. In this edit, you removed comments made by another user, by overwriting your own comment in its place. That is bad practice. If you wish to post comments on a talk page, then the good practice is to start a new thread, or place your comment directly underneath an existing thread in relation to the topic of discussion. Removing comments is prohibited and may lead to a temporary block. Wes Mouse Talk 13:30, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you.  AxG /   13:39, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add joke edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Noel Gugliemi; it is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. RoCo(talk) 13:42, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Red Jay. I noticed that you made a comment on the page User talk:Red Jay that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed.   Please be careful about what you say to people. Some remarks can easily be misinterpreted, or viewed as harassment. Wikipedia is a supportive environment, where contributors should feel comfortable and safe while editing. Thank you. Red Jay (talk) 10:03, 9 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
