Declining on WP:FFU edit

Hi. See Wikipedia:Files for upload/Reviewer instructions. Really, you should only decline if the file is not under the given license. In the last close you made, the file was listed as being copyrighted, yet you declined. We use copyright files all the time under the right circumstances. See Wikipedia:Fair use. Additionally, the section just above that had a successful logo submission. Killiondude (talk) 06:58, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I declined the request because it can be replaced by a free alternative, which violates non-free content criterion 1, which is part of a policy. If I accepted the request, someone else would would tag the file speedy deletion as CSD F7. --Bloonstdfan360 (talkcontribs) 17:32, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I forgot that the software on the picture is copyrighted also. I have corrected the error. I apologize for my mistake. --Bloonstdfan360 (talkcontribs) 18:42, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

The editors of The Center Line, the quarterly newsletter of the U.S. Roads WikiProject are asking if you, as an editor new to USRD, would be willing to answer three quick questions for an interview featurette in our next issue.

  1. What article(s) are you working on these days?
  2. What is your short-term goal for the article(s)? Long-term?
  3. What is your favorite highway?

The space to answer these can be found at WP:USRD/NR#New editor interviews. Thanks, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) on behalf of Imzadi 1979  02:52, 27 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:WTAE-TV open.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:WTAE-TV open.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:33, 9 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

The above concerns also apply to File:WPSG open.png -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:34, 9 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

User:CouvGeek/List of state routes in Oregon edit

Just so you know, draftspace doesn't mandate AFC. See this discussion regarding userspace drafts and all these pages. That's why I was asking you back in December. That IP's editor inclusion was incorrect and you could just remove it. I'm not sure why you removed it from the WikiProjects either but that's up to you. I just put it there so the projects see it within article alerts. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 20:41, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Someone redirected most of my draft pages into their mainspace counterparts. It has nothing to do with you or AFC. I spent a good amount of time trying to find good sources and recalculating mileage figures from all the crazy equations, but when someone removes them, particularly if they are found nowhere else on Wikipedia, I feel offended. Basically, I restored the contents and moved them to my userspace (at least for the Interstates and US routes). For the state routes (which was the one with the AFC notice), I moved it for the same reason I did with the other two to prevent such a thing from happening again. There's no point of putting the wikiprojects on userspace pages (which were added by myself). Again, that move has nothing to do with the AFC notice or yourself. I would have carried this out even if the AFC notice weren't there. CouvGeek (talk) 00:13, 30 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open! edit

Hello, CouvGeek. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
