Hello Country Wife! It is so good to have you here. I'm very interested in Northwest history including the fur trade. I don't know much yet. I like to get things started and see them take off. I have created or worked on, a little, Sacagewea, Jaco Finlay, Finan McDonald, Fort Colville, Red River Academy, Frank Matsura, St. Paul Mission, Spokane House, Kootanae House, . I don't have any books with me now. So I will probably flesh them out when I get some books. Have you ever been to the Colville, Washington museum? They have a great northwest history library. I'd like to take a laptop in there and work for a week or so... Mine are all stubs. But that gives you an idea of what I will be working on. I'll see you around. --cda 00:06, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi -- thanks for adding the link to Franchère (an article I started) in the Tonquin article. Be sure to check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon, since so much of the Canadian fur trade stuff is linked to the history of Oregon. We've got a pretty good collection of articles on Oregon pioneer history (see also the template at the bottom) relating to Canada which can always be improved. Happy editing! Off the top of my head (and with help from the Unabridged Oxford Dictionary - the one you need the magnifying glass to read) it appears that they can be the same but are not always the same in that a bozzetto can also refer to a rough sketch used to make a painting where as (opinion} a maquette always refers to sculpture. Origins of "kanaka" edit
The whole of the two sentences from "Until 2009" down to "free man" is complete gibberish. Unfortunately it has been copied to dozens of other pages, and as far as I can see you are the first to notice that there is anything wrong with it. The Hawaiian poster in 2010 was citing _Mamaka Kaiao: A Modern Hawaiian Vocabulary_, published by University of Hawaii Press, 2003. (The first -a- should have a macron over it, if you're up to that.) The author's name on title page is "Komike Hua'olelo" (macrons on the first and second -o-'s), which just means "Word(s) Committee", i.e. it's a corporate/anonymous work, but completely respectable. If those two sentences were deleted, it could only improve the entry, and at worst you might hear from somebody who could explain exactly what happened in 2009, who passed "resolution No.5195", what the Pa'umotu Language Academy (which does exist) has to do with the meaning of this word, and for that matter what Wladimir di Giorgio (who seems to be a theologian) has to do with it.
