Suggestion for neutral sentence on Danielle Bernstein page

edit

Hi Count Count,

I saw on the talk page for Danielle Bernstein that you asked for any comments or edits on your suggested neutral sentence from the Fashionista article. I took a stab here, based on the article:

"In May 2018, Bernstein launched a capsule jewelry collaboration with Lulu DK for sale at Nordstrom. It was alleged that the designs of certain of the pieces were copied from other jewelry designers. The pieces in question were subsequently removed from the collection."

Sorry if this wasn't the right place to message you about this! And thanks!

Thank you very much! I took the liberty to copy it to the article's talk page here, where all further discussion should happen. --Count Count (talk) 19:20, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

AfD Process

edit

I am reading the AfD process page as you suggested, the page tells me to insert "{{subst:afd1" at the top of the article if I want to nominate it for deletion.

There are several articles which I would like to nominate for deletion due to the reason that none of them meet the criteria for notability as described by Wikipedia's guidelines on notability. Is the above-stated method the correct way to nominate for deletion? If not, what would be the correct procedures? Please advise as soon as possible, thanks— Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.8.250.173 (talkcontribs) 09:50, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Now you are no longer deleting the article text, so that is good. I just checked again and you are apparently using the proposed deletion process and not the articles for deletion process. This is only for articles where you are sure that there is no opposition to the deletion. Are you sure about that? Otherwise you should use the AfD process. --Count Count (talk) 07:54, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sorry about that. I will make the necessary edits. Thank you for the advice — Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.8.250.173 (talk) 08:05, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

This was not Vandalism

edit

Dear Count Count

It is all sweetness and light to receive 'Barnstars'; however, this was not vandalism. Before I report you for overzealous removal of updates, let me ask how old you are. These were known as The Asteroids for many years, and this is what I learnt them as in Primary School as a child. I'm sorry that you prefer the politically-correct name, BUT it has a history before you came on the scene. [User:211.30.179.119|211.30.179.119]] (talk) 09:39, 26 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I removed your addition because the cited source was not reachable and it seemed implausible to me that a site ending in .gov.au had a Queenslander article. Now the site is reachable again and the link apparently leads to the archive of the National Library of Australia with said Queenslander article. I apologize for this mistake. --Count Count (talk) 11:03, 26 June 2018 (UTC) P.S. Please note though that this is not an endorsement for the change you made. --Count Count (talk) 11:06, 26 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Reply to Original Research Claim about Silmarillion

Edit; Per your suggestion, I have created a discussion in the Silmarillion talk page. I thank you immensely as it was my first edit on the wiki and I have a good grasp on the process now.

Greetings Count Count,

Thank you for the notification I understand why it may seem like original research, but let me show you where the original statements are either partially or wholly inaccurate and you can decide whether my edit stays or not;

1. In 'Influences' chapter the claim that he was influenced by medieval Christian cosmology is made, i.e. the reference to the harmony of the spheres. What is overlooked here is the Harmony of spheres is a concept considerably older than its medieval Christian adaptation, as it is a concept dating back to Greco-roman societies (Classical age) originating in the 5th or 6th century before Christ.

2. An incorrect connection is made through this statement; 'The Silmarillion tells of the creation and fall of the Elves, as Genesis tells of the creation and fall of Man.' Why this is inaccurate is because of major differences in the fall of Men and the fall of elves.

Similarly, the fall of the Noldor is caused by Fëanor being tricked by Melkor. What is often overlooked is that the elves were not of one kingdom at the time of the fall of the Noldor and Fëanor can therefore not be compared to Adam and Eve in the fall of men. Furthermore, the punishment of the Noldor only affects the Noldor and is neither universal nor permanent as is understood when many of the Noldor, under the banner of Fingolfin and Finarfin, abandon Fëanor and are allowed back into Valinor. This can even further be distanced from Abrahamic influence as the Noldor are not even punished at leaving Valinor but they are leaving under free will and that the reason for their "punishment" is because of the kin-slaying of the Teleri Elves on Fëanors command. Compared to the fall of man which subsequently affects the whole of mankind and the punishment is universal and permanent.

Conclusion; Therefore I am sure that my addition of text was not original research but factual disambiguation of barely contented ideas; This is not wholly concluded as being influenced by Abrahamic dogma and should be reviewed. The following statements are under scrutiny neither an obvious nor plausible source of influence — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.226.181.186 (talk) 09:58, 27 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

(Left the same reply on your talk page as well) You don't need to argue your case to me. I reverted your edit, because no source was supplied. Everything added to Wikipedia must be sourced. So you just need to find reliable sources supporting your claim and cite those sources in your addition. Your own ideas, research, arguments, etc. are not a valid source however relevant or correct they may be, please read WP:NOR. --Count Count (talk) 10:00, 27 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rollback granted

edit

Hi Count Count. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. How did you determne the original 2016 version of that massive undo? Meters (talk) 17:55, 19 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Meters: It became clear to me that the edit was based on an old version when I saw the introduced split section template. I then looked at the diffs between the current version and versions from 2018, 2017, 2016 versions to find out the version closest to the new version. I narrowed it down using something like a binary search. Took me about 10 minutes to find it. --Count Count (talk) 18:04, 19 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
OK. You did exactly what I was doing, just faster. I was just hoping there was some script to do this, but I guess not. Thanks, Meters (talk) 23:41, 19 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Understanding contributions to wiki

edit

I'm new to wikipedia as a contributor and don't know and understand much of how it works. I recently modified one page named Trading Card with one useful resource citing which has been rolled back by you. I contributed that only because I found that external source pretty useful for trading card enthusiasts like me and it seemed to have well-formatted content, nothing else. Could you please review the matter or let me know why you think this contrib as a spam? Abhijeet in (talk) 21:11, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your only contribution to main space has been to add the same low-quality external link to multiple pages. This is spamming. Wikipedia ist not a linkfarm, external links can only be added in conformance with clearly defined rules, see WP:EL. Count Count (talk) 05:56, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

U5/G11 on User:Asifahmad madhubani/sandbox

edit

Hello Count Count -- I've declined these two speedies: the U5 is not applicable as it is clearly an attempt at an article draft; the G11 is borderline -- there are aspects of AI-like writing but it could relatively easily be cleaned up. As background, there are several discussions ongoing at the moment about the merits of U5/G11s on relatively harmless, if promotional, userspace or draftspace drafts (in the light of the recall petition brought against administrator Fastily, who has deleted many of these in the past), suggesting that admins and patrollers should both strive to be less hostile towards new editors working in userspace/draftspace. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 08:33, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Espresso Addict, can you point me to (some of) those ongoing discussions? Count Count (talk) 08:42, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
At the recall petition itself and in the (now-closed) thread at ANI on Fastily#Fastily, as well as a few of the talk pages of admins who work in deletion. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 08:52, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

It's nothing you are doing wrong, I'm just attempting a slight personal reset, testing being a little more forgiving of harmless autobios in userspace. Keep up the good work with the spam links! Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 09:01, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
