Welcome to Wikipedia, Cougar6! Thank you for your contributions. I am Altairisfar and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time, so if you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

I took the liberty of adding the standard National Register of Historic Places stuff to your new article, Idlewild (Talladega, Alabama)‎, it is interesting and you did a great job!

National Register of Historic Places edit

I forgot to let you know how to create NRHP infoboxes, most of us at the National Register of Historic Places WikiProject use this automatic generator. There are also some helpful resources listed at the project's main page, linked above. Altairisfar (talk) 14:56, 23 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Lustron houses edit

Hey, that would be great if you could get images for the Birmingham Lustron houses, there are three. Here's the info from the NRHP:

  • John D. and Katherine Gleissner Lustron House @ 2420 Cahaba Road Birmingham, AL Built 1949.
  • Bernice L. Wright Lustron House @ 2424 Cahaba Road Birmingham, AL Built 1949.
  • Lustron House on Columbiana Road @ 430 Columbiana Road Birmingham, AL Built 1949.

Thanks again! Altairisfar (talk) 21:08, 23 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey, got your message about the Lustron houses. Thank you for going through the trouble of photographing them. Since you took them, you should probably upload them to Commons so that you are credited with them like you did with the Idlewild photo. If I uploaded them and listed you as the author then you would still have to contact Commons via the OTRS system to verify everything. But in case you do want me to post them, I'm sending my regular email to you via Wikipedia email. Altairisfar (talk) 23:41, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank You! The photos are great, I will write the articles for them soon. Altairisfar (talk) 15:05, 25 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I just finished the Lustron articles, using your photos, they are at: Bernice L. Wright Lustron House and John D. and Katherine Gleissner Lustron House. Additionally, both images are also now used in the National Register of Historic Places listings in Birmingham, Alabama article/list and one is used in the List of Lustron houses. Thanks again! Silk Stocking District edit

Hey, however you would like to do it is completely fine by me. If there are a lot of houses that you want to add, a table might work better than paragraphs. If you need any assistance, just let me know. It took me a while to get good at tables, but the best way that I found to start is to find one you like and copy it. I went ahead and started the Silk Stocking District entry so that your article on the Welch House would have at least two other articles linking to it, to hopefully avoid it being tagged as an WP:ORPHAN. By the way, I just noticed a few hours ago that your Dicksonia Plantation and Mount Ida Plantation articles have both been nominated (nominations are at: Mount Ida - Template talk:Did you know#Articles created/expanded on June 23 Dicksonia - Template talk:Did you know#Articles created/expanded on June 24) as potential Did you know entries on the main Wikipedia page. Very interesting stuff about Mount Ida! I wish that we could find some additional sources that mentioned the wall and the other stuff. I know how you feel about the wiki logic, but I have little doubt that you'll catch on to most of this stuff rather quickly.
I'm including a simple table below. In addition to the example, it has hidden comments to guide you while filling it in. A couple of rough guides (which I usually find more confusing than helpful) can be found at Help:Wikitable and Help:Table. If the header row needs to say something different, you can just change it. It is difficult for me to explain the rest in a concise manner, so take a look and let me know how you would like it adjusted: more rows, more columns, etc... Also, I wouldn't wikilink (and create individual articles for) most of the contributing properties, unless you have have multiple independent sources to back up a property's individual notability for Wikipedia articles. Being a contributing property to a NRHP historic district usually does not make a building notable enough for an article. Articles that can't be proven to be notable are usually nominated for deletion very quickly around here. If it were me, I would do something similar to what I did at Properties on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in Talladega County, Alabama, with the more notable ones linked to full articles and the rest left unlinked. Hey, Since you had gotten so much done on the table, I went ahead and added it to the Silk Stocking District (Talladega) article. Hope you don't mind! Altairisfar (talk) 20:54, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mount Ida edit

Hey, Mount Ida Plantation has be selected to appear in the "Did you know" section on the Main Page. It is currently in the prep area. Just thought you might be interested to know. Not sure when it will actually appear on the main page, but when it does it will be up there for 6 hours until the next queue appears. Altairisfar (talk) 21:46, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
