Jeff Bullas

edit

Hi, and thanks for your message on my talk page! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. There are a few issues with the article Jeff Bullas - I know that this place can seem like a maze of more or less obscure rules, and everybody was a new editor once, so most people will be understanding of errors made in good faith. I'll try to make a couple of things a little less obscure.

  • One of the most important corner stones of Wikipedia is notability. People with Wikipedia articles have to be notable according to Wikipedia's definition of notability, which is not necessarily the same as anybody else's! You can find the guidelines concerning notability for people here. One concern I have about the Jeff Bullas article is that the coverage of Bullas is not, at the moment, significant. There are mentions of him in several different sources, but all the mentions are trivial. A large number of trivial mentions can potentially mean that notability is present - but I would still argue that Bullas' notability is in question, and so the "notability" tag that you removed still applies.
  • Another thing that you removed from the article was the "Orphan" tag. That simply signals to other editors that there are no, or very few, internal links to the article from other Wikipedia articles. Since there are in fact no such links, the tag needs to stay.

Maintenance tags are not a bad thing, especially not on a new article. They are simply flags that alert other editors that work needs to be done on the article. I'll restore the applicable tags - please allow them to stay until after they have been addressed.

I also notice that you talk about the subject as "Jeff" in the article. Please use his last name instead, as per Wikipedia's Manual of Style. The specific information about how to write names is found here.

I hope this helps. If you have other editing questions I recommend visiting the Teahouse, where you'll often get a much quicker answer (I edit as and when I have time, I live in the CEST time zone, and I might not always reply very quickly.)

Speedy deletion nomination of Jeff Bullas

edit

A tag has been placed on Jeff Bullas, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

— this puff piece appears to have been created by Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Chaklalajob. I have seen convincing proof that the indef-blocked sockpuppeteer Chaklalajob is a paid editor; if you would like to see this proof, drop a note on my talk page. Puff pieces are forbidden per WP:NOTFORPROMOTION; please delete per G5 ("banned") and G11 ("spam")

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. —Unforgettableid (talk) 03:31, 20 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
