Nice thing you're trying to do keeping the pages autocleaned, but you need to tweak your bot. It's picking up paraphrases and restatements as straight plagiarizating and penalizing/annoying people who take the time to cite their sources. There are only so many ways to describe a date or that someone did one thing before he did something else. Fix your parameters. -LlywelynII (talk) 04:30, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

South African Theological Seminary

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of South African Theological Seminary, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.satsonline.org. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 08:57, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

I did not copy the website you say I did! Please look at the links and references...

Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms: public domain

Hi, I'm the creator of the article on Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms. In accordance with your bot's message, I'm letting you know that the text to this song, written in 1808, is in the public domain. Thanks!—The Realms of Gold (talk) 08:32, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Your bot

Your bot put a possible copyvio tag on the new article Cepola pauciradiata, which http://www.barcodinglife.org/views/taxbrowser.php?taxid=83356 copied, rather than vice versa. I do not think there could ever be a copyvio problem with http://www.boldsystems.org/ but a lot of pages there have a description copied from Wikipedia. —innotata (TalkContribs) 19:55, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

I got a message from the bot when I split an article. It said that had copvioed from here [1], a wikipedia mirror for iPhone. You may want to add this site to a list of mirrors. Munci (talk) 19:23, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Bot request

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but is there any way the bot could mark a page as patrolled after it leaves its comment? For new page patrollers. Thanks! --laurap414 (talk) 01:19, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Well, I see no technical obstacle, but are you sure that would be wise? The bot only looks for cut and paste from visible website, and would let blatant vandalism through without a peep. — Coren (talk) 03:40, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Phoebe Caldwell text

Hi - As the original author and designer of http://www.phoebecaldwell.co.uk I have complied with your copyright requirements by adding the following required statement to the index page of the website:

I have been granted permission by VP's Anthony Barrett, Kent Terpe, and Joe Mullen to create the Covista page using portions of our other pages and work that I have done myself. The 1phone article in question was given to me with permission and instructions to use for the page as are the other links and images that will be on the page. Charles Swift

Sir, please can you help me with the situation of which I am currently embroiled. I tried searching for one of my favourite new actors 'Charles Swift', but could find no page about him, so I decided to write one, with references myself. I did notice that there was a page for the lawyer Charles D. Swift, yet this is under the title page of CHARLES SWIFT, rather than CHARLES D SWIFT. I thought that as the lawyer is known as CHARLES D SWIFT, and the actor is known as CHARLES SWIFT, I could write a new page for the lawyer with a more appropriate title, and give the actor the original page. Thusly, I copied the entire contents of the the lawyer's page and created a new page 'Charles D. Swift'. I hope this has made everything clear, but if you have any further questions, or in fact can help me with the thorny issue of information replacement, I would be much obliged.

Olympic creed

Call off your bot please Yahoo answers does not own the Olympic creed. Olympic creed was formerly a redir to Olympic oath which has nothing to do with the creed. I copied the text from Wikipedia's Olympic games article to replace the redirect with the text, which is what one expects to find. The goal of the project is to make the internet not suck, and now it sucks a little less. Please prohibit your bot from posting to my page, I have been doing this a lot longer and a lot better than your bot.User:Pedant (talk) 08:03, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

the text in question is:

The Olympic Creed, distinct from the Olympic Oath reads:

"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."

No copyright

I did not break a copyright law. For these reasons:

  • Firstly, I just copypasted info from the valuable old version of the article Italian cuisine.
  • Secondly, if you look carefully, since it is a yahoo question desk, the author of the text just copypasted information from wikipedia. I did not copypaste any info from that site.

Please remove the tag.--Theologiae (talk) 12:23, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

If for whatever reason you believe an article should have a different title, you should propose a move on its talk page. Copy / pasting under a new title is a copyright violation, because you lose the contribution history. MLauba (talk) 12:29, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

CSD

Hi, thank you for your insights to my questions at CSD. I'll continue the conversation there, but I want to, first, explain something to you here. Prior to starting the RfC, TenOfAllTrades and I had a lengthy discussion about how discussion would be handled at the RfC once it opened. Ten felt very strongly that he wanted to have the discussion above the poll section, and not on the talk page, in order to allow him to present his opinions where users would see them before getting to the poll. He and I agreed to that, with the understanding that all discussion about the merits/pros/cons of the proposal would be there, and not at talk. I've been trying to treat the talk page as being simply about format issues of the poll and similar behind-the-scenes stuff. So, given that our discussion is something I care about, I'm going to move it off the talk page, and into the discussion section of the main page. I just wanted you to understand why I'm doing that. --Tryptofish (talk) 01:37, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Dixon Jones

WIKIPEDIA ENTRY Feb 2010

Dixon Jones is a London based architectural practice established by British architects Jeremy Dixon and Edward Jones. The practice first came to prominence with its winning submission for the Northampton County Offices Competition in 1973. Since then it has won many national and international competitions and awards, most notably Mississauga City Hall (Canada) in 1982, the Royal Opera House, London in 1984, and the Venice Bus Station in 1991. Most recently in 2009 Dixon Jones was selected (with Squire & Partners, and Kim Wilkie,) by Qatari Diar to masterplan the Chelsea Barracks redevelopment. Known for its work on arts and civic projects, university buildings, and commercial projects in sensitive urban sites, the practice has always engaged in the architectural debate between the new and the old. In London over the last two decades the Royal Opera House, National Portrait Gallery, National Gallery and Somerset House illustrate concerns for the existing context and how this might be transformed.

The office is currently working on two education projects: construction has begun on a new classroom and studio building for Kensington and Chelsea College, London; construction is expected to begin in Spring 2010 on the Saïd Business School Phase II, Oxford University. In addition, projects for a new public space for Exhibition Road, London and the redevelopment of Regent Palace Hotel in Piccadilly Circus are both on site.

Recently built Kings Place, London, is a mixed use building housing the Guardian and Observer Newspapers, and a large complex of public amenities including the first new concert hall built in London since the Barbican.

The practice has won many RIBA Regional Awards, Civic Trust Awards, and miscellaneous awards including ‘Best of the Best’ BCO Award for Kings Place Dixon Jones projects are regularly published and exhibited. A monograph on the work of the practice entitled DIXON JONES was published by Right Angle Publishing in 2002. Jeremy Dixon and Edward Jones both lecture and teach widely in the UK and abroad and are external examiners for the RIBA.
