Underground Railroad (band)

Hi,

I have been notified by a bot that there may be copyright problems regarding the bands wikipedia - as its a press release (which is posted on all internet sites). I currently work for One Little Indian - the bands record label and therefore am authorised to use this material.

CIPD copyright material

Yes, I copied the mission statement from www.cipd.co.uk/about but I wrote it in the first place on that site. But, for simplicity I've just removed the mission statement from the wikipedia page. Hope that's enough now for you to remove the big sign at the top of the CIPD page? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aligilbertson (talkcontribs) 09:43, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Sphodromantis

Hi. I removed the copyright tag from Sphodromantis as it just picked up the list from Tree of Life as copyrighted text. Thanks. - House of Scandal (talk) 08:41, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Your bot flagged this as a copy of an article elsewhere on the net. However, as the page makes plain, it is published under GFDL. I believe that I have complied with GFDL by citing the page in the article.--Whipmaster (talk) 11:33, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

User:Kober

Dear Coren. Please see this thread at WP:ANI, which I started with regard to the block of this user, which I believe is a mistake. I hope this situation will be resolved to everyone's satisfaction. Thanks. Regards, Grandmaster (talk) 07:48, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

I did, and gave a response there. I don't believe the blocks are a mistake, but there are reasonable conditions under which it would be appropriate to unblock. — Coren (talk) 12:28, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello, message about "Ninin Sankyaku"

Hey there :D
It said that it found similarities on the site http://wiki.theppn.org, which is the wikipedia site for Asian Music.
I think the bot was confused on the page that I created, as it only includes the tracklisting for the single, and nothing more. Hyuyuyu (talk) 09:15, 24 July 2008 (UTC) Hyuyuyu

Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Mido z05

I think you've got the wrong man. Mido z05 (talk · contribs) first edited at 21:13 on 22 July; presently he made an article Untitled F.C. which I took to AfD here. At 19:07 23 July he put in a comment on the AfD and at 19:14 Hussizle (talk · contribs) made his first ever edit and chimed in. So if there is a sock, it's Hussizle; but I am inclined to believe their story that Hussizle is just a friend and supporter, because of their different styles - though they both use lower-case "i" a lot, Mido is plaintive, Hussizle is aggressive and rude, and certainly deserves a block for this. If they're the same man, it doesn't matter, but in case they are different, I suggest you might unblock Mido, so that he doesn't feel aggrieved at being unable to comment during the AfD. Hussizle should get a longer block if he is uncivil again. Once their team is deleted they'll probably both go away. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 14:13, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

I would endorse this view and in fact I would have commented earlier but unfortunately my internet's been a pain for the last 12 hours and I tried to leave a message about 1400 UTC but I kept getting thrown off before I could click the send buton so the message got lost about 3 or 4 times, if as you state there's ameatpuppet as I also suspect, then it is most definately Huzzisle as was mentioned on the report. BigHairRef | Talk 20:47, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to write again but given that you've edited since the message was left I wanted to check that you saw it, given that we're currently blocking an atricle's creator from protesting the deletion of an article, even though it's highly unlikely to survive, is not great. I'm pretty sure that what you wrote showed you mean to indefblock the meat and 1 day block the puppetmaster, on that basis alone given the notice I'm going to leave a message on WP:AN, not a complaint against you just getting an admin to swap over the block times. I'lllink the discussion here as soon as I have so you can comment if you want. BigHairRef | Talk 03:59, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

User:Kober

Dear Coren. Please see this thread at WP:ANI, which I started with regard to your groundless block of User: Kober and personal attacks, calling him nationalist POV pusher, which clearly goes against Wikipedia guidline: W:NPA. Iberieli (talk) 19:37, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Val Chadwick Bagley

This article is indeed the same as another. The other had the subject's name spelled wrong. After making this article, I changed the misspelled one to a redirect. I will remove the notice. Thmazing (talk) 03:45, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

I've since learned that I did not go about this correctly. A big mess resulted. Your looking at it would be appreciated. Thanks. Thmazing (talk) 05:01, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Battle of Split Allegiances

Hi, I have re-written the Battle of Split Allegiances page so that it has been changed, so it is definatley not a copyright infingement of the source it is referenced to. If you check the reference out, you will see that although its the same subject the page here on wikipedia has been written completely differently. Please let me know if it needs to be changed any further. QuintusPetillius (talk) 10:16, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

User:Lefty Bidder

Why does someone want to delete pages about Pendulum, the internationally known Swing group?

What's the story here? Several times, I have posted explanations and queries only to have them disappear. Is this some kind of vendetta? Why?

The members of Pendulum have performed before live and broadcast audiences on four continents. The group has demonstrated popularity in Europe, North America, & the South Pacific and has stood the test of time -- performing professionally for a decade and a half to enthusiastic audiences. Why does someone object to an information page about this well-known group, when there seem to be many similar pages on Wikipedia about little-local groups?

Kotbot

Hi, please could you exclude edits made by my bot, User:Kotbot, from reporting by CorenSearchBot. Its procedure is to generate lots of similar stub articles, so there is no copyvio or accidental duplication going on. Thanks, --Kotniski (talk) 10:12, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Pseudoscience

Ok, I'm well aware of the case since I've used it before helping settle disputes, like say at Quackwatch - so I'm curious why you left the templated message on my talk? Shell babelfish 15:01, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, you were a named party in that case; given that the motion modifies the ruling of that case, you were on the list of "people who should be notified".  :-) — Coren (talk) 15:18, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Ahhh - I completely forgot they tossed me on that list when they opened it. Thanks for the heads up :) Shell babelfish 22:32, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I see now you logged the discretionary sannctions onto both Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Martinphi-ScienceApologist and Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Pseudoscience, as the clarification/amendment request to the committee referenced both cases. Which should it be? the MP-SA case has Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Martinphi-ScienceApologist#Restrictions on enforcement that prohibits any admin who is in certain wikiprojects from enforcing anything under the case. The pseudoscience case doesn't. And the motion has its own "uninvolved admin" definition. So what is the right interpretation here? I had created Template:Pseudoscience enforcement‎ linking to the MP-SA case (and created the log of notifications) before I realized it was logged both places. That template may need to be changed. I hope we don't have to go back to the committee to clarify their clarification... GRBerry 15:31, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

This is probably not a case for a major clarification; lemme just poke the arbs on the mailing list, they may simply have overlooked that edge case and will probably rule en banc whether the provision is simply superseded or not (which appears to have been the intent). — Coren (talk) 15:34, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to go out on a limb now and opine that, in the meantime, we interpret the motion literally: any administrator can enforce the discretionary sanctions given that they can through Pseudoscience even if they could not under Martinphi-ScienceApologist; I'll post a clarification as soon as I get word from the Committee. — Coren (talk) 15:51, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
The Arbitrators have been made aware of the inconsistency and confirm that it was unintended. They are currently examining the proper way to resolve the motion. — Coren (talk) 00:18, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Yoeman (farmer)

Your bot sent me a message saying that the new page I had created (Yeoman (farmer))was basically a copy of an external website. I understand that this is unacceptable. However it wasn't me who copied it. I just copied the text from the article Yeoman#Yeoman farmers. May you please remove the text in the article too.
