Bot madness

Coren has kindly informed me that 'my' new article Helen D'Arcy Stewart is a copy of the wikipedia article Helen D'Arcy Stewart. Go figure :). [1] [2] --Tagishsimon (talk) 16:53, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

  • This sort of thing seems to be happening a little too often at the moment IMO. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 16:59, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
    • Interesting to know why. The article is from PD text and attributed by hand rather than using a template, so it's maybe a genuine enough copyvio alert, but for some reason it is mis-specifying the "copied from" value. I've now added {{PD-old-text}}, which had it been used earlier might have spared us this side-issue. --Tagishsimon (talk) 17:23, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
      • Well, the bot only knows about attribution templates which is why it was triggered at all – but the confusion about having itself as the source is an old, known issue that has so far eluded fixing that occurs only in some cases where a straight apostrophe is in the title ('). — Coren (talk) 15:55, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
        • Thx. I'm good with that. Thanks for running the bot. --Tagishsimon (talk) 17:03, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
          • For the record, it has happened twice to me on my new articles Rhyothemis braganza and Rhyothemis graphiptera. I wrote the articles in my user sandbox, then copied and pasted into a new article. I gather from the previous comment, that it may be best to leave the straight apostrophe out of the title, and edit it in afterwards. Summerdrought (talk) 01:19, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Draft Article has been deleted

Hi,

Just wondering while my draft article has been deleted? It wasn't submitted and I was just putting the content together.

Draft:Symbio Networks

Can page work please be put back up in the saved draft space so I can continue to work on it.

Thanks,

  • It was deleted as a copyright infringement of [3]. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted material, even in drafts in-progress. If you wish to re-create that article, you must make sure to only use content in your own words, and never copied from another site. CrowCaw 01:45, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Witham Third District IDB

This has been flagged as a possible coptright vio. However www.needaproperty have lifted the text from Witham First District IDB, and have not attributed it to Wikipedia. Surely CorenSearchBot should check other Wikipedia articles before assuming that an organisation with a name like needaproperty is likely to produce its own material about an Internal Drainage Board. • This is why it takes no action other than to report its findings on the article page and on a copyright investigations page where a human will evaluate it. This case, for example, will be closed as False Positive. By the way, when copying content from one WP article to another, our license does require attribution (See WP:CWW). Thanks for your work, CrowCaw 21:43, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
  • It was only two sentences dealing with events in 1762 which resulted in the creation of both organisations. In both cases they were attributed to a reliable source. Regards. Bob1960evens (talk) 11:41, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Calvary at Guimiliau

Hi

I have removed the tag. The article in the sandbox you mentioned would be the same as that uploaded as a new article and that is because they are both written by me. I prepared the article in the sandbox and when I was happy with it, I loaded it. Hope this now okay. Please confirm. Weglinde (talk) 22:08, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

  • Hello Weglinde. Yes you are fine with removing that notice. The Bot actually found that text on a new mirror (copy) site of Wikipedia, which copied everything right down to your sanbdbox! Clearly a false-positive on the bot. Thanks for your contributions! CrowCaw 22:18, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

That's super!Weglinde (talk) 22:27, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Site Exclusion Request for Your CopyVio Bot

Just a suggestion that you add www.dailyweekee.com to a whitelist of some kind for your bot. In this edit it tagged an article as a copyvio, but the website is a live direct mirror site of Wikipedia. EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 19:35, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

  • Done, thanks! CrowCaw 23:17, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

CSD Tagging

Oops sorry. I do not know why I even had your page open. Again. Sorry. JBH (talk) 17:57, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Ahh... I see it was where I tagged User talk:Nuprl instead of User:Nuprl. When I saw the revert I thought I had CSD tagged your talk page!!! JBH (talk) 18:02, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
