FYI conflict of interest guideline

edit

  If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia in YourTravelBiz.com, Ytb, YTB, or other articles, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. (See also: Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.) Thank you. — Athaenara 01:04, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please note: If you continue editing as you have, in disregard of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines as noted above, you will incur the risk of being blocked from editing (see blocking policy). — Athaenara 01:11, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for disruptive editing. Continued removal of sourced content from articles you have a self admitted conflict of interest on. Please use the time to read and re read our conflict of interest guidelines and how wikipedia works. When your block ends, if you have concerns about the content of the articles, you should bring them up for discussion on article talk and refrain from any further direct editing of the articles in question.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Hello Copstead. I see that you have resumed editing YourTravelBiz.com and related articles without joining in any discussions. It is likely that you will be indefinitely blocked from editing Wikipedia if you are unwilling to engage. You have not replied to the complaint at WP:COIN. EdJohnston (talk) 15:23, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I am just trying to put correct information regarding YTB. The information that is located on yourtravelbiz page is created by people who want to attack YTB, and competitors. I just don't understand why you don't want correct information up there? Can you please explain? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Copstead (talkcontribs) 21:53, 22 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
As noted on Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard/Archive 31#YourTravelBiz.com and user Copstead, edits like this one will probably get you blocked again. — Athaenara 23:01, 22 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hello again. If you want to propose changes, I suggest you limit yourself to Talk:YourTravelBiz.com, since you are a COI-affected editor. If you want to propose new material, explain on the Talk page why it is desirable. Several of us are watching that page and you should be able to get a response. If your argument is convincing, regular editors will change the article as needed. EdJohnston (talk) 20:24, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I see my account was blocked -- This account is a sock puppet of 1981Laura and has been blocked indefinitely. --. Acctually, 1981Laura, is my wife Laura. Her and I were both trying to update the information on a page about YTB. Yes, our views are the same and the content would have looked similar. I would like to request my account to be reinstated since I do update pages now and then. Copstead (talk) 6:53 pm, Yesterday (UTC+0)

Decline reason:

Sorry, but if the two of you are editing the same article(s) with the same content, then we treat you as though you are a single editor. As such, you will be blocked for sockpuppetry, even if you a different individuals in real life. If you both want to be unblocked, you and your wife will have to agree to edit in separate topic areas. Yunshui  10:15, 25 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
