Gershom Bartlett moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Gershom Bartlett, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. August 2021 edit

Hi CoolGuySlate! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Rock and roll that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Rock and roll edit

Please do not add material without quoting a reliable source. We have another article on Origins of rock and roll, and - if sources can be found for your material - it would be better placed there, rather than at the main Rock and roll article. Thanks. December 2021 edit

Hello, I'm Larry Hockett. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Cenk Uygur, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Larry Hockett (Talk) 18:01, 28 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

February 2022 edit

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.—C.Fred (talk) 22:16, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

March 2022 edit

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did at Sam Hyde, you may be blocked from editing. "In an odd turn of events", "This contrasts with the usual hoaxes regarding Hyde"... come on, that's not "adding information", as you claim in the edit summary. It's adding comments. Please don't do that. Bishonen | tålk 08:43, 3 March 2022 (UTC). Bishonen | tålk 08:39, 3 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

I believed it was worthy of mention as almost every other hoax regarding hyde has accused him of negative actions, often even terroristic or hateful in nature. This hoax was almost a polar opposite.
I understand that you believed that, and you may be right in your belief, but you can't add it unless you cite a reliable source that shares that belief, and that says explicitly that there's such a contrast with the kind of negative actions that Hyde is usually accused of. Wikipedia only summarizes what reliable published sources say. You are not a reliable published source.
Note also that you have been repeatedly asked to sign your posts on talkpages. You do that by typing four tildes, like this: ~~~~. That will turn into your signature and a timestamp when you publish. Bishonen | tålk 20:05, 3 March 2022 (UTC).Reply

You've been told before, please stop marking non-minor edits as minor edit

Important Notice edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

FYI re the Washington Post edit

The article says "The newspaper has won 69 Pulitzer Prizes, the second-most of any publication (after The New York Times). It is considered a newspaper of record in the US. Post journalists have also received 18 Nieman Fellowships and 368 White House News Photographers Association awards." It's considered a reliable source here. Whereas "Due to persistent abuse, Breitbart News is on the Wikipedia spam blacklist, and links must be whitelisted before they can be used. The site has published a number of falsehoods, conspiracy theories, and intentionally misleading stories. The 2018 RfC showed a very clear consensus that Breitbart News should be deprecated in the same way as the Daily Mail. This does not mean Breitbart News can no longer be used, but it should not be used, ever, as a reference for facts, due to its unreliability. It can still be used as a primary source when attributing opinions, viewpoints, and commentary. Breitbart News has directly attacked and doxed Wikipedia editors. Posting or linking to another editor's personal information is prohibited under the outing policy, unless the editor is voluntarily disclosing the information on Wikipedia." Your opinion doesn't matter, nor does mine. As for Biden, again, that's your opinion not backed by reliable sources. And of course you should know Cortez isn't a Senator. See the reply on my talk page. And please sign your posts. Doug Weller talk 17:39, 2 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

To explain this point further: your userpage was in violation of WP:COPYARTICLE, and its creation appeared not to comply with the copyright requirements outlined at WP:CWW. If you'd like to explain what you were hoping to do with the content that was there, I'd be prepared to outline a more appropriate way in which to do it.
