Filter driver

It looks fine to me. Good job! A good indication for me if an article is wikified enough is also to compare it to other (wikified) articles. Like checking for sub headings, external links, see also sections etc. So that it's not one huge amount of text. Garion96 (talk) 17:11, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template

In answer to your question, the templates were speedy deletion for being in violation of CSD T1. It's perfectly all right if you want to include the raw code on your user page (and I see you've done that), the objection is to the transcluded template. Thanks for asking, Mackensen (talk) 14:32, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

Hi, when you reverted vandalism on Richard Simmons at 5:32 this morning, the user continued to vandalize until 8:08 still without being blocked. When you revert vandalism it is currently vital that you place a warning on the contributors talk page otherwise many admins refuse to block them (this is a silly glitch in current policy). Always check the contributions before warning- if the user has made a lot of vandalism without being warned use {{subst:test4}} or {{subst:bv}} if the user is new. St. John News

You removed the content in the section "news" in the St. John Catholic School (Garson, Ontario) page. Why is this vandalism? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.135.26.3 (talkcontribs) 02:31, February 20 2006

  • Please sign your posts from now on. Firstly, i assumed it was vandalism because you had vandalised that page 17 times in the week before. Secondly, i thought it was obviously POV, if not vandalism, and so shouldn't be there. Thirdly, i reverted because it was in the third person, and so not an encyclopedic addition to the article.

Re: Your userbox box

Hello! Thank you for commenting on the layout of my userpage. To get the pretty green box surrounding my userboxes, I included the following code in the table:
style="text-align:center; border: 1px solid #000000; background-color:#11ddbb; width:100%; -moz-border-radius: 15px;".
The actual table is quite standard in WP. It would be easier if you were to visit my userpage and click on the edit tab in order to see the layout in detail rather than have me explain it to you here. I find that three columns is sufficient for the page to display on an 800x600 px screen and that the number of userboxes I currently employ is enough to fix on one screen without the reader having to scroll, unlike many other people. There's nothing too complex about the design. Many people have far more sophisiticated userpages. Enjoy experimenting with your own; I am always seeing inspiration in the pages of other users! LGBT-stub

Hi Condem - you said noticed that you put an lgbt-stub on Gay Press Organization, but it didn't work because it's got to be LGBT-stub, not lgbt-stub. fixed it, so don't worry, just thought i'd let you know so you don't have to go back and change any others. i don't know if it's possible to put in a redirect, cos i'm pretty new, but let me know and i'll do one!

don't you dare :) the less template redirects there are the better and WP:WSS tries to get rid of them if possible. it was my own silly fault - i should have known becuase ive added dozens of those things and probably thousands of stub templates over all. couldnt have been fully awake this morning. BTW if your interested in stub sorting, we over at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting would love to see you there! BL Lacertae - kiss the lizard 05:10, 27 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
hi again. good to see a new stub sorter :) hope you dont mind but i had a quick look at the first few you did - and they all look great. one thing tho - the rare times you find a user page with a stub on it, what we usualy do is replace {{stub}} with {{subst:stub}}, which just puts all the info from the template on their page rather than calling up the template each time. then we edit it a second time to take the category off the page. that way the user can still have the stub message there as a decoration but their page wont be in the stub category. in the case you did it didnt matter since the user was blocked anyway but just for future info... I notice you've edited List of Junior Common Rooms in the past. Someone has suggested the article should be deleted - perhaps you would like to comment on this at this article's entry on the Articles for deletion page. Jamse 13:43, 9 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mary Allen

Thanks for the expansion on Mary Allen but some bits do not scan. Covent Garden is one of the Arts Council's largest clients and stories of financial problems had been in public circulation for years. Allen as Secretary General for the Arts Council who approved such an extraordinary lottery grant would have had to conduct a thorough review of the Opera House's finances when the award was made. What was the source that she was surprised by Covent Garden's finances when she took over? The DCMS select committee pointed out that the Arts Council had been at fault for not demanding better financial reporting from Covent Garden and had broken its own policies in making the lottery award, something that Allen as the Secretary General bore a portion of responsibility.

Also as the funding and plans for the refurbishment was in place before Mary Allen went to Covent Garden and the project was not completed until 2000 long after she left can it be claimed she succesfully steered the major refurbishment of the House.

The DCMS select committee's assessment of Allen was far more damning than I had mentioned in original text.

Given her experience of public office, Ms Allen's conduct in that period fell seriously below the standards to be expected of the principal officer of a public body whose loyalty should first and foremost be to the organisation which employs her. (Para 46)

More Mary Allen

Thanks Con,

Agree that Allen's version of events needs to be cited.

In regard of her role with the funding decisions for Covent Garden from my own experience of the Arts Council as long as the senior officers are satisfied the Council board will approve funding so her role as the officer that supervised the grant is still an issue.

If the DCMS report applies to Allen's conduct as Secretary General then maybe we should extend that section. As I understand it from non-citable sources Mary Allen had first been approached by the Covent Garden board two years earlier to replace Jeremy Isaacs but turned it down to oversee the lottery. I suspect this was known to Gerald Kaufmann at the time of the report. I did not get to the Eyre report that followed on.

There are a couple of other questionable lottery funding decisions during the period of Allen's leadership such as the film production fund that might be included.

I have been trying to expand the articles on the UK Arts funding and institutions and UK Gov arts policy and the Secretary Generals so if you have any ideas it would be great to work these up. Mary Glasgow would make a really great article.Piersmasterson 18:34, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism on the Tom Alter Page

I actually corrected a few mistakes on the Tom Alter page and i received a message that it was vandalism!!! It was NOT vandalism. The information on the page is INCORRECT. I even provided the supporting link. Tom Alter is NOT British. He was born in INDIA ans is of AMERICAN descent. It can be easily easily checked on the web searching for his biography ot interviews.

Citing that as vandalism proves how unreliable wikipedia is and how unreliable are the moderators. check the following links.

http://www.indiatime.com/archives/2005/01/the_american_fa.html

http://www.karaditales.com/AboutUs/Meet+The+Artists.html

and the list is countless. I hope the page is corrected and the process of classifying something as vandalism is also refined.

kriya yoga

Heya Condem,

I noticed you reverted the page back to the more informative version. Kudos! The person that has been giving us problems on all the other kriya related pages has already reverted it back. I hope you stick around and help us keep this person from continuing to making incessant destructive edits. Please see the Talk:Mahavatar Babaji page at the bottom for the details about how this person is being counterproductive to all who wish to see a complete unbiased article.

Legit

[1] was a legit edit: That image no longer exists and so the commented out text has no purpose. 68.39.174.238 06:49, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's OK. The edit summary was for two reasons: "OrphanBot" doesn't go back through once the image is deleted, so that text stays in there forever after the image is deleted, and it happened to every Tintin country flag in here! As such I was getting annoyed by the time I got to that one. I've filed a request on WP:RI for someone to recreate the images and tag them correctly this time. 68.39.174.238 04:11, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

==Ipod Midget== (copied from userpage)

Dear Condem, Hi. I posted the article IPod Midget on Wikipedia the other week. I have not found time to properly cite and grow the article, and already it is proposed for deletion. Being that you are a RC Patroller, I am asking you to please help me with maintaining the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alegoo92 (talkcontribs) 22:36, March 18, 2006

Optical

It requires the use of an image editor such as Microsoft Paint or Photoshop. Basically anything of that sort (Paint will do). Take the image and open it in said program of your choice; then, take the cut/paste tool, select square A or B, and drag the selection to the other square (example; you cut a section of square A and move it to square B). You'll see what happens. Have fun! ^_^ M o P 05:34, 27 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Message about status changer removed, as it removed links from talk page. ConDemTalk 15:57, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, you don't HAVE to; the whole purpose however is to tell people whether you're available. So yes, if you can, just click whatever status you want and it'll change. M o P 00:12, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

IPod Midget

I have been using a blogger and found out alot about the iPod Midget. A friend advised me to make a web page or article on the hypothetical device to notify other people. I found out a few weeks later that the blogger ASG1022 was a phony, and now I just dont want to get sued or in trouble for using the copywrited phrase: iPod. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alegoo92 (talkcontribs) 21:57, March 28, 2006

Thank you

Thank you for your help and cooperation: I must admit that I was decieved, and I am now happy that the article is deleted. I would just like to make sure that there is no way of bringing it back or someone finding images? --Alegoo92 21:04, 1 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi there! Yes, i do. For some reason, the box at the top of my talk page which lists all the sections has disappeared - or, at least, it is not visible to me. I have checked my preferences, which are correct, and the box appears on all other pages with sections, just not mine! Have you any idea why this might be? Thanks ConDemTalk 15:13, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The table of contents should appear automatically is there are 4 or more sections. I'm guessing there is some code or a template on this page somewhere that is messing with the table of contents (TOC). I have placed __FORCETOC__ at the top to force the TOC to appear. Wikipedia:Section has some more info.--Commander Keane 15:22, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I actually forget to put the __FORCETOC__ on the page even though I said I would, sorry :-).
The template causing the TOC and [edit] problems is {{Status|Condem}} above. Remove that and everything will return to normal. Not sure if you can force edit section links.--Commander Keane 15:50, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, unfortunately I'm not an expert on the code. It shouldn't do anything if you contain it in a box like on my user page. _-M o P-_ 18:35, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Condem,

No hard feelings at all. I understand that it is not personal. I think you make some good points, as well.

Cheers,

Thanks

Thanks for your help with the AfD I nominated. I am still getting the hang of this. Basically I thought the article was kind of weirdly written -- in outline format, not in full sentences, plus basically an overlap with the other article. Do you think I did the right thing (except for the bit I did wrong!)? Thanks --laurap414 23:17, 7 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the note. I've moved the page and fixed it to just talk about the house, not the House. Perfectly clear, I'm sure. :-) Needs some more work, though, certainly.
BTW, are you a fellow OW?

Hi Jamie,
Yes, that's fine. Sysop action is only requrired to close an AfD or similar when actual sysop privs are required (that is, when it needs to be deleted). OTOH, it's generally a good idea not to close discussions where there's a lot of dispute over the result, or where one is closely involved with the page.
Take care,

Hi there! Thanks for your help. I recently uploaded the Pierrepoint film poster at Image:Pierrepoint.jpg, but now it seems it is not appearing when I go to Pierrepoint (film), or when I go to the image page itself.
