October 2008 edit

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.

You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 23:43, 22 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I am just learning how to use Wikipedia, and had created a user page to develop an article about Communities That Care. I had not even actually posted it to Wikipedia when I got your message that it was deleted because you think it is spam. I am not good at remembering user names, so to make it easy on myself, I used 'Communitiesthatcare' as my user name. Communities That Care (CTC) is not a business -- it is a prevention program developed and owned by the U.S. Government that has been demonstrated to be effective in preventing youth problem behaviors like delinquency, violence, school drop out, etc. All the materials are available free of charge on a government website. CTC has undergone years of rigorous research and definitely is 'notable.' Please take a look at the references and the external links I already put into the article -- I think you will see what I mean. I am going to add sections on History and on Evaluation Results, but I wanted to get an article up first, then add those sections as I have time to develop them. Please give me back my article! I wish to adopt a new user name, Sciencerocks.Communitiesthatcare (talk) 22:00, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Communitiesthatcare: we can do this one of two ways - you can start a new account (I'll make sure you're soft-blocked) and I will move the deleted userpage into the userspace of your new account. Alternatively, request an unblock to change your username by editing the page and adding {{unblock-un|Sciencerocks}}, so that we can flag the blocking admin to do the change. For now though, your request is declined.— Fritzpoll (talk) 11:23, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

It's easier for us and you if you just open a new account ... you should be able to do so; if not just post here. Take a look at the username policy before you pick a new one, and post it here in case you have questions about the one you want to use.

And, besides this one articles, is there anything else you would be interested in editing? Daniel Case (talk) 02:34, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

In fairness, he does say that he want the username "Sciencerocks" at the end of his unblock request Fritzpoll (talk) 11:11, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello Wiki adminstrators! Thank you for your review and guidance. I would like to start a new account with the user name Sciencerocks. I will find time to do this before the end of the week. Will that be acceptable? Concerning editing other articles, I may in the future want to edit other articles, once I get a better hang of using the system. Thanks for your consideration. Update for Wiki administrators.. I created a new account, but the user name Sciencerocks was not allowed because it was too close to two existing names. So I chose the user name "Preventionbetterthancure". Would you please move the deleted userpage into the userspace of this new account? Many many thanks! Hello again Wiki administrators. I created a user page in my new account for Preventionbetterthancure. Would you please move the deleted userpage from the Communitiesthatcare account to the new account? Many many thanks! Communitiesthatcare (talk) 20:03, 7 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
